Nebraska wins easily

Well, I watched the game tonite, the first time I had sat and watched Nebraska play this season. I was semi-impressed. I realize that calling this a great win is like calling Texas' win against Rice "great." (Just kidding, Dude).

I did like the fact that Lord threw some passes and didn't look too bad as a passer. We all know his strength is on the ground, but he showed that he could pass the ball a few times if he needed to.

The defense is what I liked the best. Not counting the fourth quarter, I think that Southern Miss had 150 total yards. I dont count the fourth because their reserves were in and the game was already over. The Southern Miss QB they brought in was impressive but I dont think he would have faired as well had he started the game.

Overall, I think Nebraska is ranked right where they should be. They are a team that should be between 7 and 15 in the polls. They aren't the greatest in the NCAA but they are better than most. Until they lose, I DO think they should be ahead of teams like Michigan and Texas. I think that Nebraska could easily be undefeated going into the Texas game. That will be their first test and I honestly think Texas will win, although it will be a close one.

In case you can't tell, I am a Nebraska fan (stuck in Texas - and Austin of all places). I love everything about the state of Texas except UT and A&M. I guess that is what happens when everyone in your extended family was either born or still lives in Nebraska.

Go BIG XII!!!!!!

you're in heaven and you just dont realize it! maybe some day....

--------------

as for the game, i watched it and was pretty impressed with the 2 or so td's that lord threw.

on the other hand, he did throw a lot of shitty passes to open receivers. but, it's nebraska that we're talking about. Lord went 6-13 for 124 with 2 td's and no interceptions.

it's against soouthern miss, but still it's impressive.

anyway, they're far from being anywhere to close to having a balanced offense. but this is good for nebraska.

Btw, Texas WILL beat nebraska when they visit us.

Well, congrats. Nebraska won. I watched this game. Despite the fact they blew them out, congrats on have the worst offensive, call it a scheme if you will, in college football. The over-under on Nebraska's passing was 67 yards last night.

Sorry, but they are they most boring, unskilled offense football team in the country, but, somehow, they get it done. Beyond me. Just as long as I don't have to see them in January playing for the BCS National Championship, they can do whatever they want.

Go Miami!

They have big boys up front. They know they will need to get four yards a down on the ground to win, their fans know it, and their opponents know it. But that doesn't mean they can stop it. It might not be pretty, but I can respect it. As for the scheme, I agree it's outdated - and a fast, smart defense that doesn't overpursue will be able to stop the offense.

I wouldn't get too worried about seeing Nebraska in the Big12's BCS slot.

Hey, at least Nebraska realizes they need a passing game and is changing their offense a little bit to accomodate that. He had more passing plays this week than in weeks prior.

Nebraska has never been a passing team and they have won 3 of the last 10 national championships. Do I need to say any more?

yeah, they have.

obviously, it wasnt working anymore. if it was workin, why would solich fire almost his entire coaching staff?

there is no way that a 1 sided team will win the national championship (anymore).

example : texas tech.
look @ how much they throw the ball. the qb had like 650 yards against ole miss. their leading rusher (which was also the qb) had 20 yards.

now watch 'em come to texas and get a can of whoopass handed to them.

Just so y'all know, I'm not a "what have you done for me lately fan". I only root for 2 teams. The Huskers and the Braves. I am die hard and hard-headed about them. I think the Braves and Huskers are going to both win the championships in their sport. When they lose, I will be disappointed, but I have blind faith until then.

Just playing devil's advocate here, why is 2003-2004 different than 1994,1995, or 1997? Why does a team have to be more balanced now? This is a serious question. Why do you think it is different now than it used to be? (Dude, this is pointed at your statement.)

Damn you and your Miami game!

P.S. I believe Solich fired most of the staff because they sucked. The defense and offense were terrible. It wasn't because of the people's strategies. It was because they were bad coaches. Check their defense this year. The Blackshirts are back.

They do not recruit nearly as well as they did 5 years ago. No one is scared of them either. The return of Oklahoma as a national power. Notice how Nebraska slipped and OU has stepped it up. This is due to OU beating NU out on a lot of prime recruits. Everyone wanted to play for Osbourne. Playing for Frank is just not the same. Also KSU is a lot better and they take players from NU also. NU just does not go into living rooms and plunk down a schollie and people just jump on it like they did 10 years ago. i also think that the schollie limit has really hurt Neb as much as any team....and the crackdown on the so called walk-ons.

You have to be a well balanced team to win games these days.

Look @ OU. They have a great corps of receivers + rb's. Look @ Miami. Look @ Ohio State. Look @ Texas (had to throw texas in ).

I just dont see a one sided team winning a national championship.

Nebraska has one poor season and they should switch offensive styles. There running game works, they just did not have the talent last year. They ran this same style of offense all over the "modern" schools of Miami, Florida and Florida State and won 3 national titles doing it. One thing that makes an offense good is running plays that teams do not see all the time. New offenses do well until teams adjust. Few teams can run an option effectively and therefore most teams have a very hard time stopping a well run option team. They defenses are geared to stop pass style offenses. With that said, Nebraska has to be able to make some passes and have that be a threat. That opens the running game even more for them. Go Huskers!

that's all nebraksa does, run the option

i was watchin the nebraska vs aTm game and they kept on pounding the defense with options till they all got tired and nebraska ran over 'em even more!

i'll root for nebraska as long as they are not playing texas or kansas state.

brotherhood in the big xii.
