UT also known as Choke U.
In the last 5 years 3 universities have the most wins in Div 1a:
1. University of Miami Hurricanes 2. Oklahoma University Sooners 3. University of Texas Longhorns Can you guess which one of these has not won a National Championship in that span? Texas never can get the job done and they sure as hell won't do anything with Mack Brown. OK he has a .739 winning percentage since 1990 but his teams don't win the games they should. He hasn't beaten Oklahoma in 3 years either. Which I'm sure all UT fans don't like to think about. Are you UT fans ever going to stop claiming the National Championship after your first week win against (nameless university)? I hope this loss to Arkansas shuts your mouth for the rest of the year. Unless Miami. FSU, OU, OSU, Michigan, and USC all stumble I once again see no National Championship for you. |
Sorry, The Dude. It's not fun when your team loses. I felt bad for you when I saw the updates.
Hrothgar, I know what you mean about people hyping their team a little early - but that's what's so great about September, everyone except Rutgers can win it all. The Texas voices are usually quite loud. And yes, I think this quiets them down a bit. I even saw one of the college analysts on television this week proclaiming Texas to be the best in the country. I went, "After one game against a non-opponent?" We didn't know anything about Texas coming into today. I will say this: Texas lost because they could not run the ball. My Ohio State Buckeyes nearly lost because they could not run the ball. Unless these teams pull a 180 in the run game, there will be multiple losses for each. If Texas can't run it, defenses will be happy to take their "chances" with the young Texas QB. Oh, and Mack Brown is in real trouble. |
Exactly, it's amazing how many people hype their teams up right after the first game or whatever. There's still a full season left.
|
Going back to North Carolina, Mack Brown could never win the big game. Sure the man can recruit, but he doesn't have the X's and O's to win the one that counts. He won't win a National Championship at Texas, you can bet on it.

Time to change the avatar.
Maybe it's the Hogs' year after all! |

I have zero sympathy for "the dude". All he can talk about is how great UT is and UT is that. Oh, this is going to feel good....
AHAHAHAHAHHAHAHABAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHH I loved seeing UT eat it on national TV. Thank God I am not going to have to listen to all of the UT national championship crap for the rest of the year here in Austin. Hey Dude, maybe we should kick UT out of the Big 12. They almost have the same number of losses as Baylor! (For those that dont understand my hostility, see the Baylor thread in this Forum). Quote:

Whoooooooo PIG SOOIE!!! Razorbacks!

Go Hogs! Texas Sucks!
|
It's amazing how all these Razorback avatars sprang up in the last few hours... :D
|
It's not a bandwagon. Honest! :D
I wasn't sure how the boys in Fayetteville would do this year. Polls had them ranked anywhere from #11 to #64, depending on to whom you spoke. Beating Tulsa last week didn't change anything; hell, even Baylor has a shot at beating Tulsa. Beating Texas however, now Arkansas is going to get some respect. Razorback fans have been down this road before. They've looked hot going into a season and promptly choked. We also had the stretch from 1987-1999 where we didn't win a bowl game. Hopefully this year is different, Orange or Fiesta (SEC champ is an At-Large this year) would be great and Sugar would be phenomenal; but we know that it requires beating most of Alabama, Auburn, Florida, Mississippi, Kentucky, South Carolina, Mississippi State, LSU, and the SEC East winner to reach the Elysian fields of a BCS bowl. It's easier to have faith when there's some works behind it. :) |

Make sure you provide SEC updates thoughout hte course of the year. |
I had my avatar up before the game. It's my school after all. :)

God that sucked ass. I was there and we never had a chance to cheer except the 1st td. The the pigs took over.
It was so desperate that we started the "Vincent Young" chants in the 3rd qtr. the defense just let the air out this time. We had them pinned on their OWN 1 yard line for 3rd and 30 and they CONVERTED it! who else to blame than mack brown? even the dumbest dumbass would know that they would pass on it. noooo not mack brown. cedrick benson just sucked ass, like last week. the running game sucks ASS now. the one positive spot is the passing game. roy w and bj johnson were awesome. As for a national championship, I think that we are still in the race. We play KSU, OU, Nebraska, OK-State, and Texas aTm. If we win all of 'em and win the big12 championship, i think we have a legit shot. that is, if mack brown changes his play calling. |
Dude that is a lot of ifs and you need only one undefeated team also.
How many more years does Mack have if he loses to OU this year? Art |

I asked that because he sounds like John Cooper to me. Great recruiter but could not win the big games. OSU ran him out of town and got a real coach. See if there are any good DI-AA coaches who have won a few NC in your backyard and grab him..:)

Why are you losing respect for a coach? Seems like you people go praise crazy when they're doing good, but when they lose a game, you get on their asses.

it's sad that we lose to OU year after year, but it sucks when you lose @ home to arkansas. |
No shame in losing to Arkansas. ;)
I will say that Matt Jones had a hell of a day, and when you mix that with a turnover ratio in our favor, it just doesn't look good. Our team finally started executing on offense, and that's something that a lot of Arkansas fans have been waiting for. In a lot of ways, we envy the football program at Texas, and we went in this game a 13 point underdog. Practically every prediction in our school paper had us losing, but it's football, and strange/wonderful things happen. Strange, like us having a shot at the top 25, and wonderful, like being able to make fun of texas for a couple of years. |
actually, y'all are in the top 25, at spot #14.
polls were released today (sunday). I was also impressed with the fan turnout from arkansas at the game. kinda ironic that y'all had maroon-ic colors also. i had a couple of girls from arkansas sittin behind me and they kept screaming for every single thing. it got so annoying that some people told 'em to stfu. so, they moved to somewhere else at half time. i thought it was kinda funny. everytime they said somethin, people looked at 'em and grinned. |
Ok, first off, they could have won without the running game. Number one reason, Chance Mock's numbers, freakin awesome and no interceptions. Number two reason, we let a WR that's NOT Roy W run the ball on a trick play. Number three, three turnovers that resulted on three touchdowns by the Razorbacks. Number four, the mobile QB of Arkansas, we had our safeties spread out when we should have been blitzing hard and often. Number five, the Defense let us down, period, the offense showed up to play and when the Defense went out there it was like a whole 'nother team. The last reason is this, prolly the biggest reason, we didn't take Arkansas seriously and we paid for it horribly.

Texas fans suck. I am going to love watching you lose more games this year just to hear who you are going to blame it on next. Maybe the team colors had something to do with it. |
The name of the game at schools like UT, OU, OSU, Michigan, Miami, Tenn and numerous others is to win rivarly game first than the national championship game.
I would love for Michigan to win the NC every year but as long as they beat OSU, State and ND (when they play) I am happy no matter what else they do all season long. NC is just the icing on the cake....beating the three above mentioned teams with the first two meaning the most...means more than a NC. NC just gives nationwide respect....winning the rivarly gives you bragging rights for a year against your most hated enemies. Art |

chance mock was playing good, but we were hoping for a miracle with vince young to salvage the game. if you remember from last game, vince young had 2 rushing touch downs for playing less than a quarter. we could have used some of that. |
None of the UT rushers were having any luck against the Arkansas defense. I seriously doubt they would let a quarterback come in and beat them by rushing on them. Also, comparing last week to Arkansas is a joke. New Mexico State isn't even close to being in the same league.
UT lost. Period. Arkansas was better on Saturday. Have you ever thought that maybe Texas just wasn't as good? Or do we have to blame someone for losing? |
So it's the coach's fault they lose? Maybe the players should step it up.
Ain't the coach's fault if the team underachieves. |
the turnaround play of the game was when arkansas converted on 3rd and 30 from their own 1 yard line.
yes, i blame this on mack brown for the bad play calling. |
Well Texas is a bunch of underachievers so I guess that's a factor as well as the coach.
|
Texas didn't take Arkansas seriously, period, that's why they lost, they thought they could stroll in there and put up 42 points on the board in the first half. The Razorbacks had other ideas though, and I give them credit for playing their asses off and beating a very good (despite all other opinions) Texas team. The Defense did not play at all, period, not at all. Mack Brown has some fault calling those two trick plays when he should have just pounded it up the middle with Cedric (granted not very many yards, but hey, at least you have a better chance of hanging on to the ball). It's only the second game that we have played, Arkansas was much better than any other analyst would give them credit for, and I think that their only trouble spot will be OU (maybe Tech, but no more Klingsburry, even tho he's a product of the system) yet they need to approach every game as if they were on the brink of losing it and take each and every team seriously. The whole team needs to step it up, but they'll learn eventually, UT has a National Championship sometime in the future.

Texas is back.
That game against rice was PURE RAPE. texas benched their starters after the first half and the rest of the game was all about running the clock out. finally, cedrick benson got something going on the ground and our passing game was AWESOME. and I'm PISSED of at mack brown for benching roy williams. he had a streak of about 15 games with 100 yards + and mack brown benches him before 2nd qtr was even over? WTF? |
It's called building for the future, besides, we all know the Roy Williams can go out there and dominate whenever he wants to. Plus, it was just Rice for cryin out loud, until they beat K State or OU, I won't be impressed.
|
Are you joking? Texas beats Rice and now they are "back"?
Rice SUCKS. If Cedric Benson DIDN'T have a good game against them, he wouldn't have a good game versus ANYONE. This is like making a statement that North Texas is going to content for the national championship because they beat Baylor. You Texas fans blow my mind. :hmm: Quote:

lol, i agree that rice was an easy cupcake, but we are playing tulane next week.
this should really tell if UT's "back" :D |

best clarify that "UT" ... us University of Tampa peeps don't choke

another AMAZING performance by texas! Texas is back! |
Look two posts above the one you just posted.

well, we pretty much stuffed 'em. |
The Vegas Lines did have a +29 1/2 for Tulane. Most of the "experts" didn't think that Texas would win this one. While I don't claim that Texas is "back" just yet, they are heading in the right direction.
