The Texans!

OMG! they've stunned us again this year in their opener!

they beat the dolphins IN MIAMI!

i think that they have a REAL GOOD SHOT at makin the playoff's this year under dom capers.

even more surprising is the fact that the miami D did NOT sack carr at all! that's after carr took over the sack record last year.

the offensive line is doing real good and the def has been above avg and we just might have a playoff team in our hands.

Hrothgar 09-08-2003 03:43 PM

On any given sunday... last time I checked 1 win didn't equal a playoff berth.

gov135 09-08-2003 03:59 PM

Loosen your bolero, Tex. Make sure your brain is getting enough oxygen. :D

Ah schucks, I suppose anyone can beat anyone in the NFL. The Texans got better when they added a back that can be used every down. They have some talent at wideout.

I think they'll give up too many points, and the offensive line will be exploited just yet - my opinion - no way they make the playoffs.

However, the worst team in the NFL? Far from it. Chicago, Arizona, and Cincinnati I think will lead that list.

AL9045 09-08-2003 04:24 PM

Mediocre record is possible, but I think a playoff berth is getting ahead of yourself.

BigGov 09-08-2003 07:07 PM

Hrm...

Chiefs
Raiders
Titans
Patriots
Jets
Steelers
Bills
Chargers

Think the Texans are going to be the sixth best in that list?

archer2371 09-08-2003 07:13 PM

Man, I think the role of the Texans from here on out will be opening spoilers, until they actually get good and maybe win a Super Bowl (stranger things have happened *cough* New England *cough*).

RoadRage 09-08-2003 08:56 PM

I don't see them quite following the path of the 1995 expansion teams (Carolina and Jacksonville) who both made the playoffs their second seasons. A 6-8 win season is a reasonable expectation from them.

Where they'll beat the Bengals in the AFC championship game and go on to play the Bears in the Superbowl. :p

Sorry Dude, but they'll need more than one win to make the playoffs.

Thanks for the giggle spectre....this made me laugh out loud!
And The_Dude...enjoy your win now for my team won't let that happen again in a hurry!

The_Dude 09-09-2003 06:40 AM

I'm not really a Texans fan, but becomming more of one after each win.

If they can beat Miami @ Miami, they have a lot of potential.

Plan9Senior 09-09-2003 01:52 PM

It's silly to watch some fans jump to conclusions before the season is even halfway over, let alone after 1 game :p

Reddevil63 09-09-2003 03:34 PM

Who thought the Browns, Falcons, and Jets were gonna make the playoffs last year? Anything can happen and its just gonna make it that much sweeter when the Texans prove it wasnt a fluke.

shalafi 09-09-2003 03:46 PM

You need to have a talk w/ your texans Dude. They were only supposed to keep my fins from covering the spread....they werent supposed to win the stupid thing.

Elegant Holmes 11-26-2003 01:21 PM

New life to an old thread. The game against the Pats was almost as disheartening as the Oiler's record loss to the Bills for me. At least the Texans were in it until well after the end of regulation. After the blocked punt, the blocked field goal, the interception in OT, the resulting loss of yardage; what a rollercoaster. That was the most exciting game I have seen in awhile. (well, also that Tampa Bay win on Monday Night earlier this season.)

Elegant Holmes 11-26-2003 01:26 PM

Also, I have heard the old AFL Texans became the KC Chiefs. Anyone know about this?

djtestudo 11-26-2003 04:10 PM

There were two Dallas Texans teams.

One played in the early fifties, and got so little fan support that they played their one year as "Dallas" almost exclusivly on the road, then became the Baltimore Colts.

Similar thing happened with the AFL team; they got poor support then moved to KC.

Elegant Holmes 11-26-2003 04:17 PM

Thanks! You are my new hero of sports trivia. Were the Colts the same as the Colt 45's?

dragon2fire 11-27-2003 06:50 PM

last i checked the jags had the worse record in the afc south

so if the texans suck the jags suck more

the titans are great every year for the last five years

and my clots have been better then the jags in the division every year sice the realignment i dont know about b4 that cause i followed the afc east

quest1mark 12-03-2003 07:18 PM

ill give it to you this year. but next year, our defense is gonna make the rest of the afc south cringe.

the jags are gonna finish 6-10 this year and make the playoffs next year. just watch.

leftwitch has more growing to do then that 2 year playoffs

the jag d is fairly good

Elegant Holmes 12-04-2003 07:19 AM

This does seem to be shaping up into one mean division. There are no Bengals or Chargers to be the whipping boys. I predict the Texans will be in a playoff game in two more years. As for the Titans, until Butt Adams sells the team they can't win the big game. He is cursed.

dragon2fire 12-04-2003 11:46 AM

i tell you in a few years there will be some real good teams that wont make the playoffs in the afc south case they will beat each other up

may it not be indy
