Who are your sports heroes?
There's already a thread about people in sports who piss you off now lets make one about people over the years who you've looked up to.
Here's a few: Cal Ripken Byron Leftwich Magic Johnson Mario Lemieux Brandin Knight

Grondar, I 'd have to agree with you on a couple;
Stan Musial Rex Hudler Kurt Rambis Dan Marino David Eckstein My sports heroes tend to be the guys that got where they are becuase they worked their asses off. Not necessarily because they were gifted with a ton of natural talent. |

Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" |

Jared Lorenzen-- some have dubbed him the Hefty Lefty and the Pillsbury Throwboy, but still he gives men like myself hope that we can excel and play quarterback at that.

Sandy Koufax - quiet perfection, "the left arm of God" as SI once put it
David Robinson - I hate the Spurs but this guy is a model citizen David Eckstein - this guy is amazing, he has no arm, mediocre range, an average bat, but just seems to come out on top all the time Sammy Sosa - very modest but very powerful Magic Johnson - I saw him speak a couple years ago at my school. Very inspirational and a smart businessman.

Emmitt Smith
He is a perfect gentleman. He is a tribute to his sport. He knows that he is a role model and fulfils all the obligations as such. I hope when Arizona comes to Texas Stadium this season Emmitt has a 300 yard game and scores 72 points.

Shjon Podein.
He used to play for the Colorado Avalanche though I lost what happened to him after he was traded out. Sports heros also have to have a good presence in the community and Shjon made himself known in community service by choice, not because he was forced to.

Mario Lemeuix, cancer and record breaking at the same time has to be tough.
Brett Favre. What a big heart and love for the game. Not Corey Dillon. What a whiney piece of shit. Barry Sanders. The back who had it all. Lance Armstrong. 'Nuff said.
