The Rape of Auburn

oh my god! 23-ZERO

and the game was played AT auburn!

i watched most of the 2nd half and SC looked just plain explosive!

they could run the ball with little obstruction and their passing game went well also.

If they keep going like this, i can see 'em playing for the natl championship.

congrat's to all the trojan fans.

So much for The Sporting News's prediction of Auburn being National Champs.

Sporting New's is a curse, Simms was on the cover a few years ago, and he didn't step it up in crucial games.

I don't know if it's a curse or the fact The Sporting News just sucks at picking.

Probably both. :p.

On the bright side, for those teams that are still hopeful of having a decent season and got a loss in W1 (Maryland, Auburn, etc), an early loss is much less noticable than a later one.

I saw this one coming from a mile away. "Auburn's running backs are so great, and they have four of them!" Yeah, well, you can't put 'em all out on the field at the same time. Although, I had conflicting emotions about this game, I know someone who plays for Auburn, Karibi Dede, he played at my high school, man was he an electrifying player to watch.

I thought "the curse" was with Sports Illustrated. http://www.tournament.com/forums/ima...lies/shrug.gif

As for the game, how did a bunch of Cali boys not only survive the malaria-incested-oops-infested swamp that is Alabama, but come out with a shutout? I thought the hot and muggy conditions would overwhelm the Trojans, along with their graduation losses and a (thought to be) good Auburn team.

Oklahoma, Miami, and Ohio State better be watching for Southern Cal.

There's an explanation for this. Univ. of Louisville took Bobby Petrino, their old OC, as head coach this year. And then Auburn decided to revert to their old offensive set, not the one Petrino used last year thats so explosive. Auburn shot themselves in the foot by changing offenses, thus getting killed. Now its going to be interesting to see how Petrino fares as HC of the Cards.

I hate sc, but a bunch of the players came from my old hs Mater Dei. Including the quarter back, one of the OL and the linebacker Grootedgoed.

Groots is maybe the best hs player i've ever watched live except for DJ Williams at De La Salle (now at miami) In groots junior year he played both ways in the championship game against Long Beach Poly. Poly has the distinction of having more kids in the NFL than anyother HS in america. groots ran for over 200 yards, had a fumble recovery, interception and over 10 tackes. He's small for his position, but just a natural hitter. When played running back he would seek people out and just run through them.

SC is for real.

Auburn was overrated to begin with. USC played great but Auburn is nothing/was nothing but hype. LSU will be the team to surprise everyone out of the SEC West.

I was at this shame, er umm, "game."

In order to honor Auburn's recently deceased play-by-play announcer, the cheerleaders took the field before the game and had the entire stadium practicing a new cheer called "Touchdown Auburn," which was to be shouted after every Auburn touchdown. Over and over the crowd was encouraged to yell "Touchdown Auburn!"

I turned to my wife right there and said, "That's a really, really bad idea."

Whoever had Auburn winning the National Championship this year obviously never watched Jason Campbell play. You have to have a decent QB to win, not just a great running game. I bet Auburn loses at least 4 more times this season!!!
