Nah.
KSU plays too many cupcakes that they won't be ready for a real team. Only one of Texas and Oklahoma has a shot, and I doubt either ends up undefeated. I think there could be 8 or 9 11-1 teams this year. Maryland could have the advantage, as they lost early, while a lot of others won't lose until November.

I agree, losing early is the key as opposed to losing late, if you lose early, you drop down the rankings, but you have a chance to recover in the next 11 or so games, if you go 11-0 and drop, you have no way of moving back up the rankings, until the post season rankings that is.

as a Ohio State fan and alumnus of that fine school, I have to say that last nights total dismantling of #17 Washington suggests that the Buckeyes are right back on track, and that the Clarett situation is not going to be a significant distraction.
I see them winning the Big Ten fairly easily. And I dont see anyone on their schedule whom they cannot beat. 12-0 baby!!!! The only question is how the BsCS rankings will come out and whether it will put them in the title game. I think it will.

Dear Dude,
It was NMSU pleeeze, Yes the Horns look good, but lets' see how trhings progress. It is a long season with a number of potential disasters. Sion, I thought the Bucks looked very impressive, but I also think that was a HIGHLY over rated Washington squad ( the Newweasel situation has obviously taken its toll). Those guys couldn't catch the clap in a backwoods brothel. I started feeling sorry for Pickett. Mr. Krenzel on the other hand is very savvy and has some darned good help even if Clarrett isn't in the mix. Don't forget UM they have experience and a solid team, though I think they are the only Big Ten team to give the Bucks a run. Maryland Washington and Auburn were the biggest "suprises" of the weekend. USC looks darned good too (and I'm not just talking about the POM squad).

I know how you feel. Seeing the Sooners second teamer was a huge relief. Paul Thompson, you will love him he's fast and has a gun. If the White goes down as he has in the last 2 years. Actually, seeing UT's second QB was pretty much the same type of player. Looking forward to the 11th of October!!

Michigan has an easy enough schedule to get there, but I don't think they'll win. As for OSU walking through the Big Ten last year, you must have missed the Michigan game. Michigan dominated both sides of the ball but could not score

OSU didn't walk through anything last year, and won't this year. Neither will Michigan, for that matter.
The NC won't be from the Big 10. Probably from either the Big 12 or ACC.

OHIO STATE with out a doubt has one of the best teams this year. It has the best coach in the country and the best defense in the country. Nobody can beat them this year, this is not the bucks of past, there are no joey galloways running there mouths, or jon coopers calling obvious plays. This year we have a passing game and running with or without clarret.
GO BUCKS!!!

True, but look at who our coach was. Same players with a different coach = different outcome. Don't forget the boys who beat you 2 years ago where coopers. Leadership is important.

On the other hand, Chance Mock enjoyed a HUGE amount of popularity on campus and the UT forums before and after the first game (a majority still believe he should start, including me). Vince Young is also riding the popularity wave among the fans. So, to answer your question, no. He became more and more disliked after he replaced Major and then started "choking". As true fans would do, we didnt make the dissent public and visible to the enemy. /damn, that was a rant...

All I hear you guys talk about are Midwest and South teams. Haha the best football is played in Florida folks. The Canes were robbed by a blind judge... I mean line judge. The Luckeyes owe that judge a plaque in their trophy case.

Scratch Maryland and Auburn from the contenders, even if they manage to win their respective conferences.
I foresee the Oklahoma-Texas winner having about a 2/3 chance of being in the Sugar Bowl, with Oklahoma State playing the potential spoiler to either Oklahoma or Texas. |

Miami, OSU and ND had trouble beating weaker opponents at home today.
I think that somebody will beat these teams on the road.

Nah. Usually you have one chance to knock off a top rated team. Once you don't momentum sets in and they roll.
And the "weak" Gators would give alot of teams fits. San Diego State and Washington State are not in Florida's league.

Michigan always disappoints?
I believe they won it in 1997. OSU is a pretender. Barely beating a SDSU team with their 2nd team QB and the offense not scoring a touchdown. Very sad. While the best team probably is in the Big 12 I think the fact that you will all beat up on each other makes it that much tougher for you all. Dont forget Colorado they are looking pretty good early season. KSU is the weakest out of OU, UT, CU because they dont play anyone. Division II teams? Give me a break. FSU could have a real shot since I do not think the ACC is nearly as good as it was last year but they still got a tough schedule. WF seems to be the 2nd best team in the conference right now. Tennessee looks very good and they beat a very game Marshall team who always gets overlooked. Georgia also looks half way decent. Florida choked against UM and that is going to hurt them. Auburn showed how much of a joke they were. USC gave up 18 points to BYU so there goes the theory if they cannot score. Pac10 is the weakest big time conference this year. ASU is the only other team with a shot. UM, VT and Pitt all very good but I think VT comes out of that whole thing in the best shape. Wisconsin was not very impressive against Akron...sure they score 40+ but they gave up 30+. You should not give up that many points to a 2nd tier team (Marshall is a lot better than Akron). In the end I see VT versus U of Michigan in the championship game (be great if one Big 12 came out undefeated also so that we could have a big ass fight about the BCS.. Art |

Great post artermis! Yep, I've been pretty impressed with Michigan so far. After the defense was rediculed, they stepped up and shut down Houston who could not do a thing. I would still like to see better results with the passing game. The power running game and Michigans defense is going to give a lot of teams fits this year.
GO BLUE! |
