Who's going to the MLB Playoffs?
The season is winding down to a close in a few weeks. Who do you have penciled in the playoffs?
AL East: Yankees AL Central: White Sox or Royals AL West: Mariners AL Wild Card: Athletics NL East: Braves NL Central: Cardinals NL West: Giants NL Wild Card: Up for Grabs... I personally don't care who wins, as long as it's not the Yankees. . |

is it futile for me to be hoping the dodgers snag the NL wildcard?

Yes, unless the whole teams starts eating, breathing and drinking steroids, and even then, no success is guaranteed. .
They got Burnitz who was doing pretty well in New York, but he's stone cold right now. Perhaps if they had grabbed another bat before the deadline, things would be different. |

Praying that the D'Backs can pull it together and snag the NL Wildcard. I think the Braves might be able to win it all this year.

Yeah, the Braves actually have better batting than pitching this year, although it's not abysmal it's a few notches down from where it's been before.
If the starting rotation can start getting things together, they'll be ready for the playoffs. |

Atlanta just always sucks in the postseason for the most part.
I mean they basically still have the same offense like they've had for a long time, but those players are having career years, so that's probably going to be very beneficial in the playoffs. |

Jeez I cant beleive how many people think the Cardinals have the pitching to actually win the Central. Its the 'stros this year but they are going to lose in the first round to the Braves, unless Oswalt doesnt have any more problems with his groin then they may have a chance. But the great thing about baseball is it is so hard to predict whats going to happen. Who would have thought the Astros would have scored 18 runs against the best pitching staff in the majors.

Um.. Sorry guys, but I don't think the Red SOx have a prayer of making the post-season, unlesss Seattle totally bites it.
Sox still play the Jays, Yanks--some real teams. The only quality team the A's and Mariners play the rest of the season are each other. Sox should start offing their payroll right now. Cheese |

If the Red Sox played the Cubs in the Series, I think an asteroid would hit the stadium sometime in the ninth inning of game 7.
ALE: Yanks ALC: Twins ALW: Mariners ALWC: A's NLE: Braves NLC: Astros NLW: Giants NLWC: Cardinals Yankees over Astros. To paraphrase the Marines' favorite saying: adapt, improvise, and overcome... or continue to lose to the Yankees. -Mikey |

Everybody will piss and moan about what a shame it was that Barry couldn't win it as a tribute to his father. Blah blah blah. |

14 games against the O's and Rays, teams that have played the Sox hard this year. Watch out.
Interesting things will be Oakland & Seattle beating the crap out of each other, while Boston (and NY, for that matter) get the crap beat from them by the rest of the division.

I don't know much about the AL so I won't even venture a guess, but in the NL....
The Giants in the West (They're just too good, even without Bonds) The Braves in the East (The Phillies might give'em a run for their money, but they're in the middle of a 27 day road trip and that's got to be tough ) The Cards in the Central (With additions of DeJean, Hitchcock and Matty Mo coming off the DL and J.D. Drew and Vina coming back soon, as long as they stay healthy, they're good to go) It's a toss up for the Wild Card, but I'd go with the Cubbies. Normally, I'd say wait till September and watch them crumble, but this year they've acquired some intangible spark.....)
