I have believed for a while, and still believe, that Ken Griffey Jr., at his best, is the greatest all-around baseball player of my lifetime. He could hit, run, throw, and field better then anyone, and probably still can.
Barry Bonds is a great hitter, and was a good baserunner, but his defense was never as good as that of KGJ.

![]() And Griffeys going to the Hall, no doubt about it. He was the best player in baseball for too long. He can hit 600 if he plays decent for a while, which gives him help getting there that he doesnt need. Only thing I'm not too thrilled about is how gingerly he plays defense now, its pretty sad to see. |

junior will go into the hall, but he will not be mentioned in the same breath as willie mays as everyone seems to contend. he will instead be in the company of mickey mantle: supreme talent and we never really saw it all because of continual injury.

Griffey Jr not in the hall of fame? cooooome on....
There are three guaranteed tickets to Cooperstown: 1) 300 wins as a pitcher 2) 3000 strikeouts as a pitcher 3) 500 dingers as a hitter Griffey Jr is in the hall. If Dan Obrien trades him I will definitely SPIT ON HIS SHOES every time I see him. Griffey Jr, when healthy like this year, is still one of the most productive center fielders in the game. I like him wearing the wishbone C of the Cincinnati Reds thank you very much. ![]()

Having been a Mariners fan since the beginning in '77 and seeing Jr. pretty much grow up in Seattle, I think Safeco Field is the house that Griffey built.
He made the M's the team of what they are today. (okay last year). I'm glad to see that he's starting to turn his career around this year. He's got his ticket punched for Cooperstown.
