Any Cubs fans out there?
I dunno about you, but seeing the news today Palmerio still considering the Cubs just makes me feel good about the direction they are headed. Dusty Baker has stepped in, making the Cubs into a contender. While still in 2nd, and only 2 games over .500, Palmerio would have a huge impact to the lineup. They quite possibly have one of the best 1-5 line ups in the NL. Pitching is going to break the MLB record for most strikeouts in a year. The offense is finally starting to click. Lofton was a huge addition, Rameriz hit a homer tonight.
I dunno, just reading about Dusty Baker makes me really excited about where this franchise is going. =) w00t, go Cubs. They actully have a chance to win the Division. Although, the most Estes pitches, the worse they're chances get. =/ |

Go Cubs!!!
Cubbies are heading in the right direction.
Here are 5 moves the Cubs need to make in order to win it all: 1. Remove Estes from the rotation and start Juan Cruz. 2. Trade for Rafael Palmeiro. 3. Cut/Waive/Release Antonio Alfonseca 4. Cut/Waive/Release Shawn Estes 5. Platoon Palmeiro and Karros |

Agreed I hate Estes his era is around five. If anybody saw the game friday night they lost 3-1 but should have lost by more, it seemed like estes loaded the bases almost every inning against one of the worst offenses in baseball. Put Cruz in. Their would be no lefties in the rotation but who cares stick him in the bullpen for long relef. I like bako keep him in. Gonzo sucks he strikes out way too much and has minimal power. Once we get MArk back at second I would bench gonzo. Pitch guthrie more out of the pen.

Call up Bobby Hill ASAP. (Whenever he comes of the AAA DL)
Augie Ojeda was hitting .220 at AAA, what's he doin in the majors? Cruz is of no benefit in the bullpen. He could really help this team and give them 5 great starters instead of 4 great starters with an automatic loss in Estes in between the jewels. Why is Aramis Ramirez so frickin lazy? I just had a nightmare about the Cubs game coming up on Wednesday against the Astros. In the nightmare, Estes gave up 7 runs. The Cubs were starting to come back but Baker put in Alfonseca and he gave up 6 runs. 3 of Alf's runs were unearned cuz Ramirez made 3 errors. It was horrible. Hopefully it wont be reoccurring! |

The absolutley cannot start Juan Cruz.
The reason he doesn't start, bottom line, he can't get the ball over the plate on a consistent basis. He's got 95-96mph heat too. He just has major control issues. I'm sure somthing Dusty Baker will tackle head on in the off season. Tons of talent, lots of heat, no control. Story of a million pitchers in the bigs. |

Cubbies above 500 this late in the season is definitely a reason to be optimistic (I am, of course, the eternal optimist as is every Cub fan). Didn't like the series with the Dodgers (where did the offense go?), but Prior looks like he is back in top form again. Woods pitched a good game Monday (9 strikeouts but still lost), but the Cubs bats went to sleep again. I like what Dusty has done to this ballclub and I don't think this is the year, but we can say (as we usually do): "just wait until next year". I think the Cardinals and Astros are better this year-the Cubbies just don't have enough offense since Patterson as well as Grudzielanek got hurt. Go Cubs!

THey took 3 from Houston. 1/2 a game back now. St. Loius is tied. I really do think when they hit the 4 man rotation, they have one of the best 4 man rotations with the was Zambrano is pitching right now. They are playing well, I actully havea pretty good feeling this year.
I still think St. Loius is the team though. Plujos is a one man wrecking crew. Cruz has control issues no matter where he plays. Maybe not like Estes, who really doesn't suffer from control issues. Just bad placement, and no pitches that do anything. Cruz as a starter his era is probably around 3.75, not bad, but he's 4-8 as a starter (in career - I think) and 0-1 this year, with a 3.00 era. The month with the most IP that he has, his era was over 7, not to mention, that's the same month he made his 1 start in. Keep this guy on the bench. Not that estes is any better, but I'm sure they can find someone more productive on they're staff. I can't actully believe they let him start. I just refuse to see Cruz out there starting either. There has got to be someone on that staff with better production. Estes won't be in Chicago next year, Dusty may have brain damage after watching him start 30 times. Go CUBBIES!!
I'm pulling for a Royals/Cubs World Series. I'd have to cease being a Cubs fan at that point, though, and root for my boys in blue. And, for all you who want to pile on and say it will never happen, you're probably right, but that's why they play the game. Stranger things HAVE happened. Seriously, I do hope the Cubs make the postseason.
