USA Today/ESPN Rankings
I did a couple of searches on this topic and couldnt come up with anything, so here it goes.

i think the 3 are gonna stay near the top for the rest of the year also. i know KSU is cuz of their schedule. "bill snyderism" strikes again. i bet it's ranked 113 or so in the difficulty list. as for UT, other than the new qb, we're all set to go. after the guy gets some experience from the easy games, he'll be rolling. (somewhere i read that chance mock was the #1 high school qb in the nation). .......................and OU STILL SUCKS (for those that dont know, that's how longhorns end a sentence)

Ohio State loses Claret. Michigan loses Marlon Jackson. Big Ten loses all BCS hopes.

KSU will only get in if they win a majority of their games by blowout, otherwise they'd need help.

Hoping for BCS this year.
Nebraska will need a good run, I think the voters will drop them quickly after a loss. I haven't checked the schedules yet. Colorado and A&M should both make top 20. I think the KSU-CU and OSU-UT will be the games to watch. The winner of those will be in the Big 12 championship. |

I see CAL thundering in around 40th or so by the end of the season. Call me crazy. Yeah, that's right, I said 40th. Oh... They'll be top 12 in 2 years.
Then Tedford will be in the NFL, like Mooch and any other great coach that decides not to go to the damned acc. Get rid of the BCS and get a playoff. We need to kill this new good ol' boys club before it becomes an institution. My 2 cents. Cheese |

There will never be a playoff. Why? Because the good ol' boys club controls that. And a playoff = Less money for them (they think anyway) so it's not going to happen.
And Dude, yea, quality of win. Their schedule is pathetically weak and they need the QOW to help save them in the BCS.

Here is one strength of schedule prediction for 2003. I think its well done in that it is not based on last year, but on preseason rankings - don't flip a bird over this, it's just conjecture. Anyhoo, Kansas State is given a 106 strength of schedule, placing them between MAC schools Central Michigan and Northern Illinois. And K-State people cry that they don't get any respect. Try playing someone, and you'll earn our respect. Until then, we don't want to see K-State play in BCS match-ups where they will get blown off the field (they can't play the BCS games at home). |

I think there has to be a playoff due to the fact that the mid-majors and smaller major schools are starting to realize the shaft about to be given to them, and are organizing to try and stop it. I can see a day where if the NCAA doesn't find a way to get a playoff system going half of Division 1-A splits off completely and forms a new NCAA-type org.
That would destroy college sports, so I don't want to see it happen.

putting Maryland above NC State is a bit of a stretch. Either way it is good that there are now three seasons in the ACC instead of just basketball and lacrosse.
I hope MD stays up where they have been but I fear this year will be a bit of a let down.
