Woods and Els Go Down in Defeat
I cannot beleive these two lost to Phil "The Thrill" Mickelson and Sergio Garcia, 2up...
I mean Phil has been lucky to make any cuts this year and while Sergio is having an OK year, it certainly is nothing spectacular.. and these two guys beat the top two golfers in the world. If I was a betting man I would have lost my shirt on this one -- I figured Els and Woods would have had them closed out by the 14th hole. Incredible..... Anyone else's thoughts?

I watched it last nite. Like all of these events, it doesn't get real interesting till the end.
I thought Phil and Sergio had a good shot, Troit. You wouldn't have lost your shirt cause I would have told you not to make the bet. Remember, Els had an awful British Open, and Sergio played very well. While I agree with your assessment overall, golfers can be streaky - it can pay to go with the hot hand. Plus Phil had played the course numerous times before. Pretty good show last nite, I was glad to see the nice pieces on Bob Hope. |

In a one-game, winner-takes-all scenario, the one thing I learned from my father was that any team can win on any given day. Depending on the odds, I probably wouldn't have touched it.
These are four of the best golfers in the world - who knows how it is going to play out? Were any of them really taking it seriously? Unless I can for certain say yes, I don't bet. Watch it for what it is - something else to watch instead of Dog Eat Dog.
