Best baseball stadium

Just wanted to find out what baseball stadium everyone thinks is the best.

My vote: Wrigley Field.

cliffxpro 07-23-2003 09:46 PM

Royals (Kauffman) in KC. The Water Spectacular, the grass, the Gates BBQ.....hmmmmm

BigGov 07-23-2003 09:53 PM

Tie, Fenway and Wrigley.

dawg1998 07-24-2003 05:56 AM

Wrigley...they have stainless steel troughs in the men's restrooms...can't beat that commitment to history...

absorbentishe 07-24-2003 09:54 AM

I'll be at Wrigley next weekend, then I'll let you know...

sportsrule101 07-24-2003 10:13 AM

Best new park, is the one who inspired the rest of the new ones
Camdem Yards.

07-24-2003 10:16 AM

Safeco Field is a beautiful beautiful ball park.

The_Dude 07-24-2003 10:25 AM

minute maid park's the only one i've seen so i have to go w/ that one.

edmos1 07-24-2003 11:28 AM

gotta love wrigley, any where there are stainless steel troughs, it has to be good. but Pac Bell is a beautiful park

Micadden 07-24-2003 12:20 PM

Been to them all- Kaufmann is the best

tikki 07-24-2003 12:42 PM

Indianapolis' AAA team has an AWESOME field. The grounds are beautiful.

A close second would be Louisville Slugger Field in Louisville, KY. Another top notch field.

Most major league parks suck imo. AAA is where its at.

BadForm 07-24-2003 03:39 PM

Of the stadiums I have been to (which does not include Wrigley), I would say Pac Bell. The stadium is both beautiful and quirky.

moonlight 07-24-2003 06:34 PM

Tropicana Field - where else can you heckle a hitter from the outfield seats....and be heard by the hitter

Bank One Ballpark - amazing place

Dodger Stadium - get there before the game and beat all of the traffic

National: Wrigley Field

American: Kauffman Stadium

blindside 07-24-2003 06:48 PM

Im gonna have to go with PacBell Park. it's placement + view + aesthetics =

goddfather40 07-24-2003 08:52 PM

I've seen in my life:
Bank One Ballpark
Dodger Stadium
Edison Field
Qualcomm Stadium
Network Associates Coliseum
Pac Bell Park

The best is Pac Bell. Pac Bell Park is simply stunning. Being right on the water with a view of the bay is cool. Also it kind of has a cozy feel.

MikeyChalupa 07-25-2003 06:49 AM

Been to:

Yankee
Shea
Kauffman (back when it was still Royals Stadium and had turf)
Wrigley
Old Comiskey
New Comiskey (Fuck US Cellular)
Busch
Riverfront (Rest in pieces)
Cleveland Municpal Stadium (The Mistake by the Lake)
Tropicana Field

And of all of those, I still say Yankee Stadium is the best place to watch a ballgame. Forget about the history, ambience, Monument Park, and all that for a minute. It's just a comfortable place to watch a game. The food is good, the fans are the most knowledgeable in the game, and you can be pretty sure your team will kick the crap out of the visitors.

Next is Kauffman. Back when I visted in the early 90's it still had the astroturf field and I STILL thought it was the best park on my midwest trip. The bright red seats, the fountains, the awesome sunset over the outfield, and the friendliest ushers I've seen at ANY sports venue. Plus, right next door is another beautiful stadium. Arrowhead, and I love it when a city has two top-notch facilities sharing parking lots like that. I can only imagine how much nicer it is now that there's real grass on the field.

The worst? Shea and Riverfront. I HATE those baseball/football combo stadiums and I'm glad there's only a few left. Busch at least has personality, rabid fan support (The fans wear more red than the players) and the arch that peeks over the top and is visible from most parts of the park.

i cant believe no one has mentioned PNC Park in Pittsburgh. It's downright beautiful. and what a great view of downtown Pittsburgh... downright majestic

PNC Park... remember it

wally 07-25-2003 01:03 PM

rrf- I've always thought the view at PNC Park looks awesome when watching the games on television, but I've never been there in person.

I'm actually considering taking an extended trip next summer and trying to visit every MLB ballpark in the league. Until then, I'll refrain from giving my opinion on the best stadium in baseball.

The_Jazz 07-25-2003 01:43 PM

I've been to most of the parks as a part of work (rough life, eh?), and I've got to say that I love Pac Bell. It really depends on what you're there for, though. If I want to just go watch a game, Yankee Stadium is great, even if they do let the DH and there are bunch of Yankee fans there. I just go to root for whoever the Yankees are playing, but that's me.

If I want to go for the experience, you just can't beat Wrigley in the summer. The bleachers are absolutely crazy, and if you can get seats down low on the lower deck in the sun, life can be very good. I've been to the past 7 Opening Days there, and I can wholeheartedly say that I'd just as soon be anywhere else until about the 4th, when I'm pretty much looped.

Pac Bell has the best total package, and Dodger has the best food (although US Cellular in Chicago is pretty good, too. Try the funnel cake!), what with the Dodger Dogs and all.

However, one of my all time favorites was the Riverside Pilot's stadium in Riverside, CA. I lived literally next door for a year and was there 4 times a week. Lots of fun, even if they committed more errors than a rookie trying to convinced Halx to reinstate the TB.

Buk 07-25-2003 02:43 PM

I have to go with my home town stadium, Safeco Field.

The new Giants stadium is very cool as well, gotta love any park where a homerun goes into the water in the Bay.

dunkelhelmut 07-25-2003 08:24 PM

Wrigley gets my vote, hands down

The Ted (Turner Field) isn't bad either

If we want to include non-existant stadiums, I'll throw Tiger Stadium into the mix as well. What a classic stadium with some amazing history.

crupdawg 07-25-2003 08:31 PM

i cant believe only one person said Yankee Stadium....for me, its all about the history and leagacies of the game, and the House that Ruth built is #1

SAM821 07-27-2003 01:34 PM

the Florida Marlins new retractable roof Stadium.....whenever they build the damn thing...

wiseguy1100 07-27-2003 03:05 PM

I have been to a few stadiums, and I think Yankee Stadium is definitely one of the best. You can't help but feel awe and admiration as soon as you walk in the House that Babe Built.

Camden Yards is great for families.

Esen 07-27-2003 05:43 PM

I love Safeco field, It is a great stadium, also you can watch the pitchers really close up warm up, great food ,bars .
I recommend you check it out you would have fun.

Neotokyo 07-27-2003 07:41 PM

San Fran's park by far

cj2112 07-27-2003 07:47 PM

I did most of the woodwork in Safeco Field, along with my coworkers. Thank you for saying it's beautiful, I'm kinda partial to it myself.

348Dav 07-27-2003 08:09 PM

Dodger Stadium

A building frozen in time.

yoda77 07-28-2003 12:45 AM

pac bell on a foggy evening, home field advantage , oh yea...

ndulacd 07-28-2003 02:35 PM

Wrigley Field and Camden Yards would have to be my two favorites. Can't beat Boog's BBQ or the crab cakes at Camden Yards.

Although I've got to say that Yankee Stadium is still very impressive, if just for the history of it. Damn Yankees. :-)

Met22 07-28-2003 03:45 PM

Pac Bell be the finest!
Wrigley the grand lady, just a special place!

bobw 07-30-2003 08:24 PM

Wrigley !!!! sit in the bleachers
Fenway is second

Pac Bell is only cool if you like wine and sushi at a ball game. Or you can go with the $8.50 beer while being around people who show up in the 2nd and leave by the 6th.

been to:
Wrigley
Comisky ( I still call it that)
Oakland
Pac Bell
Coors
Minute Maid
Miller
Fenway
Arlington

Showtime 07-30-2003 09:16 PM

Minute Maid Park in Houston
Turner Field in Atlanta

djtestudo 07-31-2003 12:39 PM

As few as I have been to, I do have to vote Camden Yards.

Glory's Sun 07-31-2003 12:48 PM

Fenway gets my vote with Wrigley being a very close second.

paddyjoe 07-31-2003 07:28 PM

Out of the four or five major league parks I've been to, Fenway would be my favorite. However, living in a AAA city, you couldn't ask for a sweeter ballpark than this one. Tickets for $5.00, sixteen oz. of beer for $2.50, and some nice ball being played as well. Rochester's Frontier Field, home to the Twins triple A team.

djtestudo 07-31-2003 09:32 PM

Can't like Rochester, since they let a few losing years get in the way of a 40+ year relationship with the Orioles.

Amusingly, the Ottawa Lynx, our new affilliate, are 4 games better then the Wings, and that low due to the call-ups of their best players.

Fagabeefe 08-01-2003 07:57 AM

The Cathedral of Baseball, Yankee Stadium...

A slice of heaven on earth.

Cozmo 08-01-2003 02:35 PM

Wrigley is my favorite, and not just because I'm a North-sider. Where else do you feel so close to the action? No real parking is a pain, but it is a neighborhood ball park-what do you expect. The bars across the street are awesome. Try going to sluggers after 7 beers and hitting a fastball in the batting cages. Murphy's is a must go also. I'm in LA LA land now, and I think Dodger stadium sucks-no personality if you know what i mean.

daryl10 08-01-2003 05:42 PM

Been to

Pac Bell in SF
Jacobs Field in Cleveland
Turner Field in Atlanta
Astrodome in Houston
Fulton County Stadium in Atlanta

Turner Field gets my current nod since the tickets I get are next to visitors on deck circle front row. Do have to be careful with brew, can get beheaded when Smoltz is pitching to left hander with late swing.

Went to Pac Bell in early August. Wore a long sleeve shirt and jeans. Got so damn cold I cold not drink another beer. Great stadium, just needs to be in warmer climate.

As far as old stadiums, nothing could beat the 8th wonder of the world, the Astrodome. The coach of our little league team would take us to Houston each year for a game and you could see the Dome 20 miles away. This would allow for the anticipation to grow to fever pitch in a van load of 10-12 year olds. God bless our coach, those memories I will never forget.

One day before I die or the owners/players kill MLB, I will spend a summer travelling to all the parks and watch a game.

dragon2fire 08-01-2003 10:21 PM

the jazz hit the nail right on the head

wirgely is just plain great

Jerpitcher 08-03-2003 04:46 PM

I have only been to 2 major league parks, Qualcomm in S.D. and Bank One in Phoenix....I have to say Bank One kicks ass, I have also been to a AAA park in Tucson, and that was a great field also

iceman2032 08-04-2003 10:40 AM

Pac Bell park. There's not a bad seat in the house and no matter where you sit, you feel close to the action

Peetster 08-04-2003 10:44 AM

Camden Yard. There is no bad seat in the entire place.

stinkynutz 08-04-2003 11:00 AM

Minute Maid Park in Houston, TX

alec 08-04-2003 06:50 PM

Camden yards or Fenway. There is nothing quite like a Red Sox - Yanks game at Fenway. Not a game to take your kids to. Well, unless you want to raise your kids the right way and teach them to throw batteries at criminals in pin stripes.

Camden Yards is a beautiful park and is great all around (great food, good service). Only thing missing now a days is a decent team.

08-04-2003 09:14 PM

Wrigley is great, but I still miss Tiger Stadium.

absorbentishe 08-07-2003 08:55 AM

Well, after going to Wrigley on 8-2, I think it's a pretty awesome sports bar, that happens to have a baseball game going on. Great personality, love the ball park. Pick Wrigley over many others.

Parks I've been to
Tiger Stadium
Comerica Park
Jacobs Field
Riverfront stadium
Turner field
5/3 Field (Toledo Mud Hens best small park)
Wrigely

Axeem 08-07-2003 09:32 AM

actually, the best minor league stadium is the Dell Diamond in Round Rock, Texas, home of the AA Round Rock Express.
