College Football!!

As an avid Auburn fan, I see I great team for them this year. I have read several boards, but mostly involving Auburn fans. I just wanted to see what everyone's opinion is about them this year, or more generally speaking, who do you see contending for the championship this coming season. I see Michigan having a great season, and as much talent as Ohio State has returning, it would be a fluke for them not to repeat with a good season.

I'm a FSU fan but I doubt we'll be contenders this year.. damn this running game shit..I wish we'd go back to the passing game but then I guess we'd have to get a real quarterback. I think it's up in the air this year. OSU does have alot of talent returning. UT (tennessee) is looking good and of course Oklahoma is good.. damn I hate that coach.

I'm a big Buckeyes fan here myself. As long as Clarrett doesn't get ruled ineligible for the entire season or something else big like that, I don't see why they can't compete for the national title again this year.

Big 12- OU looks really good and is hard to pick against. with only games against Colorado and TX, maybe a tuff one in alabama (but who knows how bama is gonna turn out) on the road that look difficult, I see them winning the south division, and takin out K-state in the big 12 champ game to play in new orleans. Nebraska has a lot to prove this year, but i believe they still a couple years (and a new offensive scheme) away from being near the level that they were.

Big 10- I like OSU to win the big 10, if thier defense can jell. Offense looks like it will open up a bit with most of the starters returning, tho u have to watch out for michigan, which is seriously hungry for a big 10 title again.

ACC- is hard to pick, with 4 decent teams that could contend this year. The terps are becomming pererinal contenders, Fsu looks to be reloaded (qb is still an issue witht the team tho). Nc state looks exciting to watch down the stretch, and Virginia is a serious up and commer.

The SEC- looks like it is Auburn's year to take it. they do have arguably the tuffest schedule in the nation tho, and that could really affect its best chance in the last few years to take the sec. LSU looks strong as well, and i'd like to see them do more than just turn a few heads this year. In the east, it looks like tennesse might get its act together (if they can find some offense) while georgia is reloading at defense.

The big east- is pretty easy to pick, with Miami being the no brainer. Might have a few issues at QB, with transfer brock berlin taking the helm, but he has no lack of talent. i like pitt to finish second over VT actually, simply because of the promise that they showed last year. be nice to see them crack out of the shadow of the top 2.

Overall i like OU to play for and win the championship against miami, tho i hope they play OSU simply so i can give hell to some buddies of mine.

FSU has had the 'potential' to be good the past 3 years. DAMN YOU RIX DAMN YOU. Our only chance this year is if rix actually learns how to be a quarterback and gets his shit together, if not, its gonna be another rough season. but i dont really care, i was here at fsu for the 99 season, where we totally pummeled everyone. hehe thats good enough for me for a while.

The Buckeyes year was not supposed to be last year. That was why the season was such a surprise. "This" was supposed to be the year.

Only two things will trip them up. Clarett getting hurt and/or a tough road schedule Mich/Wisc/PennSt.. Two great early games to watch though both at home Washington and NC St.

It'll be fun.

Thanks for listening.

All I know is that TWO Big Ten teams (OSU and UofM) are 1 and 2 in the newest preseason poll. I used to live in Ohio, now I live in Michigan. This year is going to be a great one to watch football.

Hell, now that I think about it, what year isn't a great year to watch football.

Purdue is gonna be damn good this year. We got two veteran quarterbacks now, a lot of upper classmen, etc. The 6-6 record last year did not show the talent the team had (since about five of those losses were by like 24 points combined).

Of course, I won't be attending any of those games because I do not enjoy having alcoholic beverage bottles chucked at my head.

I second the motion made by Tikki. Jim Tressel, (HC OSU) said this about our team last year. "By far the hardest game to get [to the fiesta bowl] was purdue, there were times when i just didnt know if we could pull it off."

And the fact that Maruice Clarett decided that he didnt like class so much. ;o)

Hail and all that...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, if Casey Clausen gets his shit together, every damn body better watch out for the Vols. Mark it down. Auburn will be good, and I can't wait til we play em.

Outside of the SEC:
Oklahoma will own ass this year
So will Texas and Miami
I absolutey despise Florida State, but I honestly think they'll be back in full swing this year, which sucks.

GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!

This is my favorite rivalry in all of sports, because it is a true RIVALRY. There's no bitter hatred, no destruction of the city following the game, and upon their graduation, ALL of the former adversaries find themselves on the same team. No other rivalry can claim that.

Yes, both teams suck, Air Force is by far the best of the service academies and last year was briefly in the top 25. But even if, like last year, Navy only wins one game all year, the season is still a success because that win came against Army.

I'll stick to the SEC since you're an Auburn fan, and I'm a closet TN fan. Auburn is definitely the team to beat in the West, but may not mean much in November. As far as the East goes, who knows. GA is probably the team to put your money on, but not by much. If TN can get some receivers, look out. And who know what the Gators will do. SC could also show up and scare some people (it wouldn't surprise me, anyway).

That's my read on it, anyway.

As a long time Michigan fan, I am thrilled about the upcoming season.

As a Georgia Tech fan and student, I'm not too thrilled about our season. Unfortunately, our program is not in good shape and we aren't anywhere where we used to be (bring back Joe Hamilton!!!!)

Either way, this will be another great season of college football. Let the season begin!

Well, I'm a die hard Notre Dame fan, but even though they'll be a better team this year, they will have a worse record. Their schedule is insane once again and I don't see them getting through the first half too easily. Michigan and Purdue will be very tough, then we've got FSU and USC later on, along with an opening game against Washington State. I think we've got a great defense, but the offensive line lost 4 starters and there isn't much depth, so I can't see the offense being much better than last year. Oh well, I'll wait a few years. They are making strides now that Davie is gone.

Navy is my second favorite team having grown up in Annapolis with my dad working at the Academy. I agree with MikeyChalupa in that there is no better rivalry in the country than Navy v. Army. Although ND v. USC is a close second. ;-)

I'm a die-hard Michigan fan so clearly I hope they win. That being said, I have grown very accustomed to the third-game, out-of-conference loss that Big Blue usually suffers enough to know that any chance at a national championship is usually awash by October. That being said, if the offense can perform better than last year, nothing should be a surprise.

I am a big Florida State fan, but I don't know if the defense can turn around from last year's disasters. For god sakes, fucking Seneca Wallace almost beats them and then goes 4 of 22 with four (?) picks against Oklahoma? They have to get back to the dominating defensive style of the 90's. I am an ASU fan, and I'm really excited about this year. Andrew Walter is fucking good, I see him throwing for more than 4,500 yards this year easily. The defense should be interesting to watch now that there is no Terrell Suggs. Someone has to step it up. Texas should be good, with NFL WRs and no more pussy Simms. But the team I fucking hate and always ends up doing good is Oklahoma. Their defense is just too good. I hope Texas can finish the job Simms couldn't and blow them out the water this year. GOD DAMN I can't wait till football starts again!

I am a huge FSU fan and hopefuly, praise be to God!, we will turn it around this year..... Rix better damn well become a team player and learn to throw with that wonderful arm. Also he can't forget to use his legs when needed. We have Bolden coming back which is a huge plus and Jones is back at as our killer back!

I have to admit I am a fan of Auburn and UGA and I hope either one of them will dominate the SEC this year... as you all know fans of FSU automatically hate UF and would gladly love to see them crash and burn....

4 words - "He's Not Steve Spurrier"

They could bring in John Madden, Knute Rockne or anyone else, and they would still have a hard time filling Spurrier's loafers in the alumi's opinion. Not that Zook can't/won't do fine, but he's probably got a halflife of 3 years before he gets fired for not wearing a visor.

First Old business-
I am a huge husker fan. Born and raised in Nebraska and yes I know we aren't the team we use to be, give us a couple years and we'll be back in the hunt, remember the early-mid 90's Sooner fans. However I have spent the last 20 years of my life in various parts of big ten, country. It is about damn time a team from the big ten stood up to be counted in a national title game. Congrats to the Buckeyes. Yes I know Michigan split in 97 with my boys, but the 97 Wolverine team was not nearly as good as the 02 Buckeye team, What they did to Miami was alot more impressive, than what Michigan did to Wash St. in there respective bowls.

Now on with the new-
My top .....
1) Ohio State, Still a lot of talent returning and they know what it takes to get there.
2) Oklahoma, This one pains me to say but they look good.
3) Miami - Chip on its shoulder from last year.

This entire season rests on the thousands of dollars worth of things-you-buy-when-you-just-got-paid-off that were in Clarett's car-you-buy-when-you-suddenly-come-into-money.

Michigan by a quarterback who may yet prove to not suck quite that much, but will assuredly be blamed if they lose.

Auburn should win the SEC west - SC, UT, BAMA at home - UGA has a decent shot at repeating in the East, and my guess is that AU will do to UGA what we did to Ark last year in the championship. After that... who knows what sort of chaos will come out of the BCS rankings as to who is in New Orleans...so I wont even attempt a guess at that.

The SEC is going to have a down year. Everyone is pining over Aurburn as the SEC savior on the national scene. I don't think they will get the play they need out of the QB to run the table in the west. Sure they have 4 great running backs, but only one can carry the ball each down. Keep an eye out on Arkansas if they get some early wins and Jones (QB) stays healthy.

UGA lost all there O-lineman and linebackers but are still the pick to win the East. Don't understand this reasoning, but Green is a great QB. Too bad he plays for an idiot and has to spend 1/3 of the game on the sideline while Shockley does something to loose the game. Tennessee is my pick in the east in a dogfight of mediocrity. Hoping Lou will get the Cocks in the fight this year (hope is all the Gamecocks fans have ever had going for them).

Oklahoma is my pick for the Big 12 and nation. Texas will never win the big game as long as Brown is the coach. He never beat FSU when he was at Chappel Hill. Even if Texas gets by OU in Oct, Brown will make up for it by loosing to Kstate and aTm. OU should take care of Kstate in the championship game to play for the national title. Kstate may be undefeated when they play this game.

Go Cocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
