NBA EAST
Does anyone thing the east has a cahnce this year? I am a Pistons fan and I think the only two teams right now that could compete are Detroit and NJ. Both teams will stand a much better chance if their new big men pan out.
i think nj will do the job again and reach the finals. detroit has a shot, but a small one. if ben wallace can do a lil more than block shots and get rebounds and provide another scoring option, they could go to the finals.
NJ....if they had T-Mac. otherwise, no chance.
Orlando is my dark horse this year, Howard helps them alot and I think Gooden is going to be great. Also, I think the bulls will make the playoffs.
Yeah I agree NJ and Detroit are the big boys but hey I'm a Raptors fan and seeing what deals they make....so far some minor guys Bateer, Moiso, and some other dude lol not much help...
Being a Piston fan, I really really hope the East can do something to keep up with the West, but with superstars taking pay cuts to win championships (never thought I'd see the day), it looks like the West will just keep getting stronger and stronger.
I think even at age 18 Darko can and will be better than a lot of bigs in the league which will help the Pistons. Its also good to see free agents like Howard and Arenas come East.
The East have no shot at all next year.
If the Lakers don't win it next year, some other West team will have become utterly dominating through trading. Possibly Dallas if they acquire a big man and learn to play D. Possibly Sacramento if they trade Webber for someone good. Hell, the Nuggets are going to be a tough team for the East next year with their additions. |
I'd like to see the Magic do better next year, but I don't see any team from the east having a real shot at the championship.
The whole league is spreading pretty thin with just a few teams acquiring actual skill in pairs and 3's
Is the east still in the League? I had forgotten all about the JV teams out there in the east.
Well, with the 4 team deal out there now, Glenn Robinson is probably going to end up in Philly for Van Horn. I think that makes them legit contenders to anyone. Robinson is as consistent and crafty as any foward in the league.
Glenn Robinson and Iverson on the same team? Bwahaha. There aren't enough shots for the just the two of them on the same team.
as long as the east keeps sending major talent west (Cassell, Sprewell, Payton, etc) there wont be a team that can challenge the lakers, timbewolves, mavericks or kings.
gold star goes to the Wizards for luring Arenas east, but at this point he is a poor man's Sam Cassell. He does have potential, its just a matter of what he does with it... same for the rest of the kids in Washington.. they could be a very good team in a couple years if Kwame, Dixon and Arenas all step up. |
I'll defenitely agree the league has grown too big and the talent spread too thin.
Hell just 10 years ago the entire league was abundant with players of great talent and on basically every team - olajuwan, drexler, jordan, barkley, shaq, malone, miller, etc. nowadays, sure they're all old and mostly retired, but the other players haven't relaly captured the charm and what not and sometimes the nba feels so stagnate the fact of the matter is certain teams keep getting the players and IMO its bad thing - sooner or later there will be teams out to win only championships and everyone will take a paycut to win and dominate year after year... not the best way to do things lets hope this is all just a one year thing and not something that may make the nba a lot worse off |
I definitly think the East is going to catch up in the near future. The Pacers are young and talented. Chandler and Curry have tons of potential to make the Bulls contenders in a few years. I still think Kwame Brown is going to be great and now the Wizards have Arenas. The Cavs are even starting to look pretty good.
Plus, Detroit is a fifty win team that added the #2 pick and NJ made it to the finals and added Mourning. |
I doubt it, a lot of the east's best players are moving to west conf. teams
