This could be a good place to chat about upcoming races.

I'm a newbie; only 11 marathons so far.

What's your favorite race to date? I have a soft spot for the L.A. Marathon as it's my home course and I appreciate it SO much more since I've started running races elsewhere -- its scope is really stunning and the city's participation is magnificent, from services to people in their homes on the route.

The most scenic race I've run yet was the inaugural Grand Canyon Marathon last year. Wow. Just... wow.

I'm a reformed runner. I raced competively for about 12 years (I'm 32 now), but I had a string of injuries that have turned me into a pedestrian. You can turn muscle into steel by running, but you run around Asphalt America long enough, and a strand of grissle will go pop, and there you are walking.

As far as races go, I love Chicago for the course (no hills), Boston for the people and the Marine Corp in DC for the crazies. Prettiest course ever was the Smokey Mountain Marathon in Townsend, TN, but it's a bitch. If you're talking shorter stuff, I love the Bix in Davenport, Bay to Breakers, the Expo in Knoxville, TN, and the Corporate Challenge in Chicago.

The Grand Canyon sounds incredibly cool, though. Maybe if I can ever find someone that has the $6M that it will take to put me back together, I'll run that one.
