Lennox is old and outdated and far too cocky, Mike Tyson is a joke, and the Klitchkos are the only remaining interesting heavyweights.

Oscar DeLaHoya will soon retire, Shane Mosely will never again have the public's interest and Bernard Hopkins is a stupid idiot who will never succeed because of his horrible decision making.

WTF is there to look forward to? Even Tommy (Aids Infested) Morrison is considering a comeback because of the extreme lack of talent out there today. Fernando Vargas is a noob on steroids who can't hang with someone half his size .

I miss the good ol' days, when boxers boxed.

Then watch HBO, this Saturday, at 10:30 EST. Vernon Forrest vs. Ricardo Mayorga II. Tons of action here. Mayorga is the cocky guy, lots of pucnhes thrown, tons of power. Forrest was ranked just last year as one of the top five lb. for lb. in boxing, before losing to the big puching Mayorga. Look for Mayorga to lite up a cigarette on the way in the ring, and if he wins. Forrest is also quite active, this will be a good fight.

On the undercard, Zab Judah begins his comeback after a disastourous loss. This kid has skills, but he's stepping up against a live opponent, in DeMarcus Corley. Lots of puches thrown here, too.

Yes, doc, boxing is easy to slam cause the heavyweight division blows. It's just disgraceful. But boxing is healthy in the lower classes with great stars. Look, just a few months ago was Ward/Gatti III, called by boxing critics one of the greatest ever. And that Lewis/Klitchko will be a blockbuster this fall.

And since you correctly threw out some older names, doc, here are some younger ones that are just as good.

Antonio Tarver, Roy Jones, Fernando Vargas, Mayorga, Kostya Tszyu, Acelino Freitas, Floyd Meathweather Jr., William Joppy.

And many, many more.

Yes, welterweight division is alive and well. It's so rare that there is a good matchup anymore these days, though.

I love the sport, but only a few top-ranked fighters have the gumption to fight the other top-ranked competition.

Back in the day, the fighters had no choice: they had to fight whoever was next in line on the list.

It is the only sport that is completely controlled by television and promoters. What is with this "Union" I've been hearing Max Kellerman talking about?

I will admit that the Klitschko/Lewis fight was damn good though. 1900000x better than that awful Tyson/Lewis fight, and I actually had to pay for it!

Kellerman is a dreamer. He wants to
1. eliminate the title bodies and have one "unified" champ
2. put the weight classes back to the six there originally were instead of the twelve or so they have now
3. something to do with mandatory challengers to eliminate the "he don't fight nobody" thing
Kellerman and cronies have taken to calling the top ranked guy in each class by Ring magazine the champion.

I'm not saying this isn't a great idea. It's just that this would eliminate ALOT of the money men. And they won't stand for that. There's too much at stake.

Its true that the heavyweight class recently has been just horrible overall. But theres been some very good fights in the lower divisions. The problem with boxing is that there hasnt been in fighters recently that have made kids want to become boxers. Boxing needs someone that catches the publics attention or something similiar to what the first Rocky movies did for the sport.

What the hell has happened to Zab Judah? Did you see him last night against Corley? Listless and apparently uninterested. Certainly uninteresTING.

Mayorga certainly is fun, though.

Zab Judah IS a punk. But he's a quick one.
Judah overmatched Corley last nite (and he knew it). Let's wait and see what happens to Judah over the next year. In my opinion, probably not much when his chin gets tested. Corley couldn't do that. But Judah will get his, you are right, he was listless and bored. I especially disliked him making fun of Corley in during the fight. If Corley was such a dog, Judah should have put him down. Not do a little dance.

I thought the Mayorga/Forrest fight was a good one. Not great, but good cause you just knew anything could happen at any point. Mayorga is the champ in this class and ALL his fights are worth watching.

Thats a bunch of shit lets see you step in the ring with any pro boxers and they'll show what boxing is.

I'm excited to see who Roy Jones is going to fight now that he is gunning for the heavyweights. I wonder if Lennox Lewis will think of fighting him next year. Boxing is doing pretty well, I agree that only the heavyweight division sucks.

I think boxing should be to the death. No one could complain about wanting a rematch and no more disputed decisions.

Boxing always attracts criticism no matter what era.
There are plenty duff fights true. Yet there are many great fights along the way.
As for to the death? would you be interested in competing if it were...............................?

The problem really is that guys into boxing years ago are the guys getting into the team sports these days. Imagine if some of these NFL and NBA guys were to have trained their whole lives in the sport of boxing with their athletic abilities what we'd be seeing now.

I hate boxing because I think some fights are rigged. I wouldn't watch any sport that had potential for being rigged.
