2010 NCAA Division I Men's Basketball Tournament

2010 NCAA Tournament Bracket - March Madness Tournament Brackets - ESPN

Any thoughts?

Maryland has a tough bracket. They likely can get to the Sweet Sixteen, but I'll be content with that and a non-blowout loss against Kansas.

Pickin' the Terps to win it all, though. Which is why I don't plan on getting in any brackets for money

I did create a TFP group on Yahoo, though, if anyone wants to join.

Feeling bad for my Boilers. Knew the season was the same as over when Hummel went down. Feel bad for Chris Kramer since he's been such an integral part of that team and he's a senior.

I really can't predict who will win this one, or even the final four. Lots of very good teams, several extremely good teams but unlike previous years no great teams. All of this could really make for a very exciting tournament.

Or I could be all wet. That's why they play the games.

I'm surprised that the ACC had so many in. I think Maryland can do some real damage if they get the guard play from Vasquez they've had all season, and if Duke can get past Louisville they should at least make it to the elite 8 where the Villinova game should be amazing.

I'm not going to join your bracket because of the password.

Oh and I'm going with Kansas. They have good length, leadership and great guards. That's a potent mix. There are going to be some interesting teams this year, but I'm picking Cornell for my bracket buster. They could go fairly deep..

I've posted this in past years, so my apologies for posting this again... My bracket auto-generator has been reset with this year's teams. Not much else new with it, just a teams update & resetting of stats & numbers.

I don't pretend that it's perfect, but it can help fill in some blanks!

If you don't join, you won't get to see my bracket and how far I have Duke going. And who I have them losing to that deep in the tourney

Fuck.

That was one of the best games I've seen in a LONG time. Feel free to use dukesucks as your password from now on dj.

Now I just have to hope that Coach K is smart enough to say no to the NJ Nets at the price of $12-$15m/season

Outstanding final.... Butler was amazing yet DUKE prevailed... excellent season by the Blue Devils. They definitely played to their total potential. Haters can now proceed to hate....

All praise to Duke. They deserved to win the game as much as Butler did. That said, I will now go light myself on fire.

But seriously, I think if Butler doesn't spend most of the last eight minutes focusing almost solely on fouling-out Zoubek, that games looks a lot different.

Didn't help that the biggest call of the whole game was blown: the charge Zoubek took that was an obvious block, keeping him from fouling out and taking two points off the board (and a shot at the and-one) in a game that ended up a two-point difference. But this isn't a blame-the-refs situation; they were even through the game and both sides had questionable calls go both ways as well as plenty of chances to change the outcome.

I wish that shot had fallen, but Hollywood doesn't extend to the real world often enough, and Butler getting to the point of needing that shot to drop used up more of the movie magic than most would ever get to use.

What a fantstic game. Butler didn't win but they were far from losers. Even though Duke won, all the post-game talk has been about how well Butler played.

One thing struck me as odd, obviously Zoubek was instructed by Coach K to miss the last foul shot. Why? It damned near lost the game for them. Why give the opponent a chance to win? A chance to tie, maybe. But giving the opponent a chance to win is leaving too much to fate. Of course, what do I know? Coach K is polishing his trophy tonight and I'm sitting home without a job.

Congrats to both teams. One of the best championship games ever.

This is why Coach K and Coach Izzo are so good in the tournament. Everyone expects the shot to be made and the other team to have an opportunity with all the time. By missing the shot, the clock was started on the 'bound and it was a scramble for a shot with precious time ticking down. Granted, it would have been a disaster if Butler had made the shot and won (for Duke obviously) but just like Coach K said, if Singler didn't get raped on that screen at the end, the guy from Butler would never have had such a clean shot to get off anyway.

It's sort of 6 in one, half dozen in the other.

I think I would have gone 2 for 1 in the final 48 seconds rather than holding the ball as long as Duke did.

There were a ton of great stories that came out, and I felt like people were really dissing on Butler by saying they were a "david" similar to Indiana State, but the fact was Butler has been good all season. Those kids are going to be tough as hell next year if they stay healthy and the coach doesn't leave.

I think other than me being pissed at the lack of shooting from Duke, the only thing that pissed me off more was how all the reporters were ignoring Thomas on the post game interviews and everyone was going to Zoubek all night when all season long they were dogging Zoubek at every turn. Lance Thomas has been the fire for the Duke squad for 3 years and he never gets the respect.

Now, I'm hoping Duke starts getting recruits so I can quit watching them all go to UNC. Although, I'm not too impressed with the last class that came into UNC.

Butler didn't have a timeout. So if he makes the shot, they have a chance to set up a play with the clock stopped which could allow them to get the ball most of the distance they needed to travel before the clock started again. Whereas, the missed shot meant that the clock was running while Butler brought the ball up and almost guaranteed a half-court shot or longer.

Basically a missed shot gave Duke a better shot at the win, while a made shot would make overtime a realistic possibility. Duke took the chance at the win.
