Urban Meyer resigns from coaching
The buzz tonight is that Urban Meyer has stepped down as coach of the Florida Gators, effective after their bowl game. He is citing health reasons.
He's only 45 years old! What is going on here? I live in Notre Dame land, but I'm sorry to see him leaving the coaching scene. Does anybody have any details... or scuttlebut?

apparently its being reported that his family has a history of heart problems
plus, his offensive coordinator left last season, his defensive coordinator is gone after this season, now Tebow is graduating, among other things they will be rebuilding for sure starting next year, so sounds like a great time to step down when combined with his health reasons I know football coaches love their jobs and dedicate their lives to it, but with all the money he has, I don't blame him a bit |

I've been up all morning, and with the radio tuned to sports talk, this is the only noteworthy story of this past Fri-Sat.
Yes, he does have health problems, heart-related (something about a misplaced/dysfunctional valve and a heart attack undetected to Urban himself at the time). The university has also acknowledged that Meyer had about "4 or 5 episodes" in various games when he had complained of chest problems. After the SEC Championship, Meyer had passed out and had to be rushed to the hospital, while team officials deemed it just "mere precaution" and "a little dehydration". Even if it is a cushy gig with lots of payout, coaching is still as stressful a career as any other, if not moreso--all the adrenaline and excitement and anxiety and emotions rushing through someone all at once, it can certainly take its toll.

Fuck them indeed. Fuck them up their stupid asses.
I hate the Gators and I hate Urban Meyer. I hate the little jump pass he taught Tebow, I hate Tebow and the only bad thing about the Gators losing in the SEC championship was that the Tide couldn't lose too.

WAIT JUST A MINUTE!!!
A day after Urban Meyer shocked the college football world by saying he would resign as head coach at Florida, reports say Meyer has changed his mind. The latest reports indicate that Meyer is planning to take a leave of absence -- but not quit -- to deal with health problems related to a heart valve defect. Multiple media outlets are reporting that Gators offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will fill in as interim head coach while Meyer is out. Addazio has been an assistant to Meyer at Florida since Meyer became the Gators' head coach in 2005. The two also worked together on Notre Dame's staff in 1999 and 2000. Addazio is also a former Syracuse assistant who was once considered a strong candidate to get the head-coaching job at Syracuse. It's not clear exactly how serious Meyer's health problems are or how long he'll be away from coaching. But a day after saying he was done, he might be back coaching the Gators at some point, as long as he's healthy enough. Wouldn't you think he'd make up his mind before announcing a decision???

Way to go Urban, way to make yourself look stupid and like a typical primadonna Gators coach. Spurrier would be proud of you.
I know why he's "coming back", he's coming back because all the recruits that commited were going to go elsewhere (Florida State maybe??) because he couldn't handle not having his ass buddy there, so the A.D. Played with Urban's little balls in his mouth and got him to change his mind...for now. Again, fuck the Gators. FSU |

He came back because his "heart problems" were actually just him being heart broken over his boyfriend graduating, as has been alluded to. Urban Meyer thinks he's God and Tebow's Jesus, if you know, God and Jesus used to suck each other off.
