I do blame the scorers for not scoring... enough of that ...
The more I think about the goalie situation..the more I think that we should keep Cujo. Here's why. Even though Cujo sucked in the playoffs we do have a 3 year contract with him. With Hasek we have a one year contract. If we keep Hasek and he decides to retire (again) we'll have to look for another top netminder. Which in the end will hurt us even more. With Cujo at least we have a few years before we decide what to do and who knows he may not choke next season. Hasek is getting old and with being out for a year I just don't know if he'll be able to compete like he used to. Honestly I think Hasek is the bigger liability in this situation. He wants to play for the wings but it's up to the orginization not him. Just because he won a cup for us doesn't mean he'll do it again or that he'll have the same motivation. Osgood helped us win the cup and he hasn't had much success since. All in all I'd rather keep Cujo, choke or not. I think it's the better business move. |

Yes but unfortuntately hes gonna be sitting there sucking up $8 mil of payroll a year while the wings need to re-sign free agents like Yzerman and Larionov as well as shop for a forward to replace federov. Another possible move for them could be a trade to Colorado in exchange for Hejduk, but who knows.

Thats why Ive been saying that they are screwing Cujo over. I dont care if Cujo was the worst goalie in the history of hockey(which he is FAR from), if you lure him from another team with promises of a multiyear deal and a no-trade clause, then you honor that deal and suck it up if it happens to be a mistake. Instead of the NHLPA worrying about getting players to the 10-12mil/year mark to make itself look good and destroying the economics of the game, they should be lobbying against moves like this, that potentially effects a player's entire career.
As far as he Avs goalie situation, Theodore didnt have the greatest season last year, which definitely puts a damper on the amazing credentials he earned for himself in the 01-02 season. Owners and GM's are notorious for being easily spooked, and the early season fumbles he had last year could do the trick. Who knows what the Avs' move is going to be, because early on Lecroix said he wasn't going to make any big free agent aquisitions at all this off-season, and then he went out and picked up Selanne and Kariya. So for him to say he is going to wait until december to see if he needs to get a goalie could very well be a bunch of horseshit. Last edited by Nikilidstrom; 07-11-2003 at 11:24 AM.. |

Are the Sabres gonna come outta their shell?
3 yrs ago, they were in the 2nd round, then goes Hasek and Peca. Then Boom, no contention. Then with the past year ownership crisis, the past hasnt been good. But there may be light at the end of the tunnel.... 1. New owner with lots of $$$ 2. New players - Druery from Flames - Delmore from Predators 3. Expanding market to play game in Rochester. - Canadian Game will be a hell of a lot better, outside, duh Maybe the Sabres will be in it! |

O.K. Cujo didn't play HORRIBLE, he didn't play great either, BUT he didn't completely suck either.
03 Playoff stats - GAA - 2.08 (this is more indicative of team defense rather than goalie ability tho). SV%- .917 This should have been good enough to win the series against Anaheim, 'cept the scoring hit a little bit of a wall. A wall named Jiggy. Giguere's Detroit Series Stats - GAA - 1.24 SV%- .965 You decide whether Cujo just plain sucked, or was it maybe perhaps the lack of desire and heart by Detroit that Anaheim had to win that series? Same thing happened with Dallas, Anaheim just had more heart and work, and heart+work>talent any day. Turco's Anaheim Series Stats - GAA- 1.91 SV%- .920 Jiggy's Dallas Series Stats - GAA- 1.85 SV%- .936 As someone on the Politics Board said, stats don't lie, only statisticians.
