Terror
I was very surprised to come here this evening and find nothing on this, unless I have missed it.
We all know that terror exists in this world, but for an attack like this to occur, in a place where cricket is a religion second only to Islam is unthinkable and appalling. I believe that these deviants have gone too far and have lost all hope at this time. Any organisation which practices intimidation can only exist if tolerated by the people or the state - and after this neither will be the case. No one will shelter them now: individually and as a group their cards are marked. Sport is the great uniting force in this world - more so than politics ever can be. And it must be defended with all available force from these pathetic half-men, these terrorist animals. Quote:

The umpires were in a second mini-bus behind the Sri Lankan team. I heard the Aussie (Steve Davis) interviewed on the radio this morning - and it sounded like a terrifying experience. Their driver was killed and he said they were stuck in the bus for quite a while with the (local Pakistani) TV umpire shot as well (but not killed). I reckon you'd try to get out of the country and never go back.
Geoff Lawson used to be the Pakistani coach and was pushing Oz to tour last year - he was also on the radio and he was shocked - he really never thought that this kind of attack would happen.

and here i was only last week listing some of the worst moments in history when the israeli athletes were killed..
this has to be up there. no justification can ever be made for this sort of thing. pakistan has just lost the only thing it had left going for it. international cricket. you reap what you sow. its unfortunate, but im really starting to get fed up with the way things run in pakistan.

I hadn't heard about this until it was posted here..
granted, I have minimal exposure to cricket and only understand the basics of the game..but this is terrible. I can't blame the Paki's cricket team..but the Pakistani goverment promised security and from what I gather from the article it was pale in comparison to what former ministers have given for security.. sad. |
