I was tickled to see the skankees so totally dominated and shut down (almost out) last night by Cliff Lee
Here's hoping that wiley ol' Pedro can do it again tonight as well. He's gotta keep the Phillies from dipping into their bullpen to face overdue skankee hitters in that stadium. My only worry is that some of those hitters might already know Pedro's stuff too well... |
Pedro has a history of dominating the skanks.. I almost tear up thinking about his performances (sans the Aaron fucking Boone) performance..
Phils 2-0 after tonight |
Things look bleak for the Phils but Utley is a beast.
|
Hopefully, the skanks' hitters and pitchers have all shot their wad and are fizzling...it will almost certainly be a battle of the bullpens tomorrow night....
|
this has been an odd series..
I'm starting to accept the inevitable.. :( |
Girardi got either desperate or cocky: he figured that, since he has three really nice starters and...Joba, it would be better to pitch those three on short rest rather than give them a better chance of success on full rest and risk a mediocre Chamberlain outing costing a game and bullpen flexibility. Instead, a bad Burnett outing cost them a game and bullpen flexibility (though the off-day helps), they have to pitch a 37-year-old on short rest in Game Six and Game Seven will be Sabathia on short rest again plus $161 million worth of pressure on his shoulders.
Plus, the Phillies will likely have Lee available for Game Seven, if he's needed to relieve. In regards to Utley, I have this to say: the way you become "Mr. November" is by tying, or breaking, the home run record of "Mr. October", not by Michael Kay screaming it in a moment of joy. This series definitely is not over. |
