Gagne is a beast. I watch the Dodgers like a hawk and I think he's easily the best closer out there. He will get you an avg of 2 K's per inning and hardly ever gives up runs.
Smoltz is the same, except far less K's. The Dodgers are in a hitting slump currently, so they will not have much run support for a while. This means a lot of close games in which Gagne will be a part of. *shrug* It wont matter either way.

Smoltz will end up with a few more saves, but Gagne is much younger than Smoltz, so if your league is one that carries over year to year, I might make that trade.

I agree with the others. I like gagne more and think he would be better if he played on a better team. Though, anothe angle is that because he plays on a worse team they may be involved in more low scoring games meaning more save opportunities. I think it may just be a matter of preference.

Gagne is a good closer but the problem is the Dodgers have to actually score a run or two and be ahead for him to come in the game.
I especially loved not seeing him come out at the BIG A in Anaheim this past weekend. GO HALOS!!
