NCAA Football Offseason
The slowest damn time of the year, but there is hope! Soon, we will be able to drink before noon. Untill then, let's argue about our beloved teams.
One problem the offseason creates is that players get bored and decide to do stupid illegal things. So, why not make a way for these teams to still compete off the field. http://sportsargumentwiki.com/index....tle=Fulmer_Cup . This is a tracker for something called The Fulmer Cup which was created by the folks at http://www.everydayshouldbesaturday.com as a way to rank teams based on their criminal activities. So, who do you think will win it all? What's your pre-season top 25? Early Heisman favorites? |
This past year was almost a dream come true for me. App State, the college of choice for people from my high school, beat Michigan and won another D-II title. At the other end of the state, East Carolina had a great year and Chris Johnson went first round.
I think LSU could repeat, but USC, Georgia, or Ohio State could win it. I'll be rooting for East Carolina as long as we're paying off my wife's student loan for her M.B.A. Ever since Skip Holtz took over, they've improved every year. It always seems like a Chris Johnson type is graduating, leaving them hopeless for the next year, but somebody always steps it up. |
My Buckeyes have a tougher schedule than last year, but a runner up in the BCS championship during their "rebuilding year" when they were expected to finish 4th in the Big Ten alone shows some promise. Hopefully their QB acquisition will give them the option to have some mobility when Tressels ground and pound system becomes stagnant. Outside of that, just about everyone is back this year from last year, so they should be firing on all cylinders.

Georgia, Ohio State, and USC are the AP and Coach's Poll top 3. LSU is 7 in the AP, 6 in the coach's poll.
I'm a little annoyed. There are three teams that got points for the top 25 that ECU has beaten. Yet ECU gets no points. I guess we're not a power like Potato State. |
