Michael Strahan Steps off the Field
Giants' defensive end Michael Strahan announced his retirement yesterday. He walks off the field holding the Giants all-time sack reckord (141.5, with an assist from Brett Farve), seven Pro Bowl appearances, and, "the icing on the cake," a Super Bowl championship.
"I don't think you need a ring to fulfill your career, but when you don't have one, you justify to yourself that you don't need it," Strahan said. "Then, when you get one, you're like, 'There's no way I could have left without it.'" Happy trails to you, #92. |
It's a shame that he's leaving, but hopefully, he'll end up in the booth. He's a very likable guy and I think he'd be great at it. (Even if he wasn't, he can't be any worse than Joe Buck :p)

Perhaps he can take over for Tiki Barber; we thought he'd be a good commentator, but he sucked last year. However, I think it's more likely that he'll become a defensive line coach; he did a great job teaching the rest of his line last year.

one of the best

I've always admired Strahan, he was a beast (coming from an Eagles fan).

Strahan in the past two years, for me, has become a PR whore, just like Tiki before him. Will he retire, won't he? You have him in the background saying "I know what I'm doing, but I'm not going to tell you; it's my little secret".
He was amazing, but with the addition of the huge surprise Osi, plus Justin Tuck (who will probably move outside) and the most dominant line in the league I think they will be fine. At least he left on top, with Favre. I feel bad for Jonathan Ogden who was (perhaps) one of the best players at their position ever, and McNair, who was memorable, who stepped down after very disappointing seasons. |
