Avram Grant sacked

To be honest, Chelsea are becoming a laughing stock.

Sacking a manager who took over the team mid-season who were reeling from losing a charismatic and popular leader, and to take them to second in the league, League Cup finalists and losing the Champions League in a penalty shoot out... its a complete joke.

They sacked the special one for only winning the League the season before.

I dont think any top manager is going to want the job, who wants to be at a club when your liable to be sacked after one season if you dont win everything going?

They are wrecking the team and it is sad to see. They are going to be unable to hire a decent manager.

Money talks - if Abrmaovitch offers Rikjaard or Mancini or anyone else a big bag of cash, they''ll take the job, IMO.

I've heard Sven Goran Erikkson's name being touted for it.

And some (I dont believe them) rumours that Mourhino could return.

Also Gus Hiddink's name has been in the press.

I haven't like Chelsea's style of playing of late. While ManU goes all out to score goals, Chelsea is content with a win of a goal or two.

I'm a Chelsea fan, but the game against ManU (I loathe them)was abysmal to say the least. So many shots were off target, and the ball possession was almost entirely in ManU's... hands?

Ok, we lost the titles, but that doesn't mean Roman Abramovich can scream "Off with his head" every time a manager fails to snatch a title! He might have all the money in the world to get managers, but like Strange Famous said, I doubt anyone would want to be held responsible for everything that goes wrong.

Yeah, the Board is doing the Club and the fans no favors with this move.

On the one hand, I sympathize a little, because after breathing some life into a side that has a rich history and huge fanbase... this move is a first step to wrecking the team. Not to speak of hoarding class players who get to ride the pine while they'd be automatic starters for, say West Ham or Everton. "Buying trophies" isn't a bad thing, no matter how much shit the press or other fans might mock you for it.

Then again... fuck Chelsea. We've got Arsene Wenger, for a couple more seasons at least!

(And yes, I'm laughing, LAUGHING at Ca$hley right now. Serves him right for leaving the club that brought him up through the youth ranks - even if we did no better with ten men in Paris.)

A.Cole, Shevchenko, and Anelka have been disappointments, and that's being nice to them.

I agree, Arsenal has a wonderful style of playing, and an enthusiastic team. Watching a Gunners game is always exciting.

Fuck Chelski.

There..now that that is out of the way.. I don't really see much sense in Grant being sacked. He did well with what he had. Rumor has it that there are 8 Chelski players on the move as well. One of those is Drogba. That makes sense to me..

oh and another thing, what's this shit about ManU having ball possession most of the game? That's a load. It was pretty even. Chelski just didn't go on the counter as they should and they were too worried about getting in the ref's face (yes I'm talking to you J. Cole) instead of playing. The game could've gone either way.. but ManU won because that cunt JT choked.

As soon as the special one left I think Drogba going was on the cards.

Its a big blow to Chelsea... he is a fragile personality, but going forward he is the only player they have that really frightens you as a defender.

Cashley Cole was always a bad signing to me, especially as they let Glen Johnson go because of signing Cashley - and allright, Johnson was raw but he had a lot of potential and Wayne Bridge is a quality player in that position already.

I dont see things getting easier for them either. The Makele's powers are just starting to wane a little and Obi Mikel isnt good enough to fill his shows.

Dont know that Man United fans can take too much high ground about intimidating refs though... I can remember a few incidents of Roy Keane in the ref's face screaming at him...

One possibility I thought about for Chelsea was Rafa Benitez... if the board go ahead and get rid of him. He's a big enough personality to control all of those big ego's... maybe too big a personality for Roman to deal with though - and Im not sure he'd ever manage enough English club anyway out of respect to the Liverpool fans.

Well, right now it looks like Hughes and Mancini are at the top of the list.

As much as I hate chelsea, I think Mancini would be a terrible fit for the club.

Tan Cate justed got sacked as well, which probably rules out Rikjaard as Ten Cate was his assistant for a time, IIRC.

Me thinks it will be Mancini -Abramovitch wants a (recently) proven winner, which rules out Hughes, Sven, and a few others.

Hah, all the probable managers are dropping out. Guess no one wants to have that responsibility hanging over their heads. Manicini it would be then

@guccilvr: When I was watching the match, the ball possession in the first half was 65%-35% ManU at a time. I'm sure of it.

Mikel is one bad player. In terms of diving and making a fuss, he's the only one who is a match for C. Ronaldo.

then what happened in the second half? Chelski had a similar figure of possession. so in the end, ball possession was about equal. The only thing United had that was a bit better was passing accuracy.. and of course people that could score a penalty

True, Chelsea passes are always off the mark. More often than not, it's sent to the opponent.

Damn JT.

Anelka did show how much of a puss he is. He used that lame excuse simply because he didn't want the pressure. Drogba just looked like a bitch, but I have a feeling Chelski won't have to worry with that much longer.

JT is just a cunt all the way around..

Drogba might make a move to AC Milan. Anelka has been a royal disappointment so far.

Interesting choice - Scolari has been a winner wherever he has gone, pretty much, and has a great rep for getting the best out of his players. With Boswinga, Carvahlo and Ferreira already in residence at Chelsea, can see a couple Brazilians or Portos showing up. He was a successful club manager in South America, despite a lack of European club management experience. His English is terrible, though.

Oh, and fuck Alan Shearer. Seriously, will this guy just declare he's scared shitless of trying his hand at management and people can just forget about him once and for all?

And while they're at it, someone give Paul Ince a job at a big club? I had no idea he would be as successful as he has been first at Macclesfield and now at MK Dons. After Big Sam, I think Ince would be Blackburn's best bet.

Seeing how Roman Ab. kept axing managers who failed to win a trophy, I think Chelsea were lucky to get Scholari.
