Lewis vs. Klitschko Results
Lewis wins by TKO in Round 6
Klitschko has 2 gashes over his left eye and the doctors stopped the fight IMO, Lewis is damn lucky the fight was stopped because Klitschko was winning the fight and he was more fatigued that Klitschko ...Your thoughts |

Klitschko would have won in my opinion. Lewis is extremely fortunate he got the cut on him. It was a great fight overall and I think Klitschko was underestimated... and Lewis still doesn't give him much credit in his post match commentary. The rematch (which will definetely happen) is bound to be great.

Actually, one HUGE gash over, and one minor one under.
Also, for the record: Quote:
Vitali showed tremendous heart, comparable to that of Gatti a few weeks ago when he faced Ward and broke his hand in the third round, and continued on and eventually won by decision. He also showed a lot of heart by running into the ring yelling "no" and wanting to know who stopped the fight and why. After watching the Sanders fight this past winter, I lost a lot of respect for the Klitschko name, Vitali rebuilt all of it, and then some, tonight. It's extremely refreshing to see an athelete (especially in boxing) caring more about the sport, instead of the money.

One day an Englishman, a Scotsman, and an Irishman walked into a pub together. They each bought a pint of Guinness. Just as they were about to enjoy their creamy beverage, three flies landed in each of their pints. The Englishman pushed his beer away in disgust. The Scotsman fished the fly out of his beer and continued drinking it, as if nothing had happened. The Irishman, too, picked the fly out of his drink but then held it out over the beer and yelled "SPIT IT OUT, SPIT IT OUT, YOU BASTARD!" Last edited by BigGov; 06-21-2003 at 07:47 PM.. |

Man, I'm so pissed by this, not because I feel it was the wrong thing to do, stopping the fight, hell, I figured they'd stop the fight after Round 3. No, I'm pissed because its just not fair, Lewis is such a cocky dickhead, and he deserved to lose tonight. And he DID, he lost tonight, and he knows it. God, I can't wait for the rematch.
Now, I might be wrong, but I'm fairly sure that after he ran out yelling "NO!", he asked Lewis for a rematch right there in the ring, I'm not talkin about when he was being interviewed, I mean DIRECTLY after the fight was called. And Lewis wouldn't give him a straight answer, and Wladimir pulled Vitali away, and he was screaming "YOU LIAR!" I loved that.

Lewis was losing. He knew he was losing. That's why he was so defensive. I think Klitchsko earned alot of respect for what he did tonight. If he didn't show heart tonight, I don't know what it was. He should get a rematch.
BTW, for the guy who called it. =/ The fight ended between rounds, at the start of the 7th. And as far as people losing respect for the name when Wladimir got knocked out, gimmie a break. Seriously. Lewis lost to Oliver McCall, and got knocked out by Rahman. Wladimir got hit once and never recovered... Maybe it was the hardest punch he ever took in his life... Maybe it was so good, it woulda put anyone down... You won't know till it happens again. It could have just simply been a fluke. It's a big question mark. No one questioned Lewis when Rahman put him on his back. Now he needs to get out there, prove it was a fluke, and shut the nay sayers up. I hope he does it. After what I saw tonight, Lewis wants no part of the other brother. Last edited by Kurant; 06-21-2003 at 09:25 PM.. |

i could have accepted lewis" win by tko however after seeing the postfight interviews i concluded that lewis is a pompous asshole who won the battle but will lose in the long run on all levels im sure his fan base is slipping and he showed his lack of class by trying to get adversarial with larry merchant in the interview

Lennox was lucky that he cut him because if he didn't he wouldn't be the camp this morning. |

I thought the fight was alot better than it could have been. We were lucky to see such a great contest. I thought we'd see two big guys hugging each other for twelve rounds. Instead, we got above-average action for heavyweights.
I can't wait for the rematch. It will be made, cause the money will be there. It's gonna be a year or so though, cause that cut won't heal easily. You DO need to give Lewis his props, cause he cut the man. It was a legit TKO. Lewis won this fight, no doubt. But Vitali will get a chance at him again. Ten bucks says Lewis drops twenty pounds before the rematch. |

I have always liked Lennox Lewis......... But this fight had the same look as when he fought Olliver McCall he was so slow and lethargic early on....... If Klitchko would have landed another straight right in the second.... It might have been over then. It looked like lewis was finding his range later in the fight.. (that savage upper-cut in the sixth) . I would have liked to seen it go farther.... The cornerman was getting the cuts to stop inbetween rounds... So, with klitchko ahead on the cards I thought let it playout a few more rounds, see what would happen. I can also see why they stopped it..... that eye was NASTY!!! IN the rematch, If there is one...... I see Lewis in better shape. He better be for his sake.

It was crap. Vitali had the fight won, but the cut was HUGE!!! I could have stuck 2 fingers in that thing easy. The cut man had it stopped after every round though. THe rematch should be great to watch(hope its not PPV,prolly will be though).I hope Vitali knocks his punk ass out, especially after the disrespect is the post-fight interview.

Lewis was very lucky. At least Vitali comes away with respect and the peoples champ if not the belts. Funny how things go around Lewis won respect after the Holyfield draw most people knew who won. Although i thought the second fight was closer and could of gone either way. Judges had to say Lewis.
Klitschko really impressed me. It will probably be months before he is healed so hopefully as lewis edges towards retirement he wont want to end his career like that, and give him the rematch he deserves.

Was very disapointed to see Lewis sleepwalk his way into the win. It was only after the first two or three rounds that Klitschko ogt his attention. Too bad Klitschko didn't KO him early in the fight. Klitschko's got heart and Lewis ends up looking like a punk, but a punk with the title.
FWIW - was surprised to see Lewis' cutman not wear rubber gloves. Throught that was a requirement. |

For what it's worth I think Lewis probably would have gone on to win. VK didn't look like he was going to knock Lewis out, and points decisions always go with the champion (right or wrong).
That cut's going to come back to haunt Klitchko for rest of his career.
