It's great when everyone else hates you! You know, no matter what the form book says, that we're the one team they all want to beat!
|
walking round town today... kids just carrying rugby balls about under their arms, half the stores having their staff in England shirts.... whatever happens now we should be proud of our boys.
Argentina played out of their skins last night - France were dissappointing, I felt like they were just out-fought (but the sin binning of Ibanez was a bit harsh... if you collapse down like that in a mall you should expect a bit of leather, no one trod on the guys head or anything...) Les Bleu's still have the core of a good team, but I think they have done a lot despite their coach rather than because of him. They need to sort out the no 10 position. I still dont think they know who their no 10 is, and they dont know exactly what game they want to play. Had to take your hats off to the Puma's for that defensive stand at the end of the first half though, absolutely massive. Also, they dealt with The Seabass just the right way. The hit on him was late and prolly did deserve a yellow... but thats what you need to do, get into and whallop hard. |
im off to go watch the rugby.hopefully i can bring u guys some good news about the boks!

I feel pretty bad.
Just want to say, congratulations to South Africa, the best team won. I dont understand the decision on Cuerto's "try" - but overall the Boks were dominant in the line out, more disciplined in open play - they deserved to win. I'm proud of our boys to get this far... we lost to same great champions tonight. ___ And for balance, England could have easily got a yellow card at the end of the first half for persistant penalties... It was a close game, it swung on a few decisions and the Boks dominance of the line out... we cant come out of the game with any real complaints. If the Try had been given it could have been different, but if the yellow card had been issued it could have been worth more than 4 pts to the Boks... it was a fair result. I said you wouldnt get another 36-0 and you didnt. The Green pack was very strong and held their own against us and was stronger at times, Percy stood up to the pressure and kicked his goals brilliantly. Im typing through tears... until 2 weeks ago England Rugby was considered a joke... we arent a joke anymore. But the best team throughout the whole tournamount took the trophy. |
Not a night I'd want to be the (Australian) off-pitch ref.
The Boks played a blinder, and England can console ourselves with the fact that we fought hard and prevented them getting any tries. After the 36-0 Arsefucking we got last month, I think we did pretty well. Not well enough, but not a disgrace. |
It was a good run that, to be fair, got us to a place we surely did not expect to be.
Fair play to SA, they were the better team on the day, but well done to England they did us proud in the end. Also, well done to the Argentinians. Can't stand their footy team, but the Pumas are alright and have come a long way to join the elite of the rugby world. |
Go Bokke ,their victory last night was awesome ,and what could be better than being a proud South African right now.

daniel - thanks for the plug mate..yeah the ref WAS aussie, but id have to disagree with the decisiono on that try
titan - the only thing that could be better than being a south african right now is being an aussie any day of the week! hahaha i must say i watch the rugby down with a rowdy crowd of a few thousand english and safa expats. i enjoyed the game, but was dissappointed that in 2 whole games of world cup rugby finals (england vs australia, and now england vs SA) that a single try wasnt scored. its a shame that the 'running game' has become a mere kicking game. the english have scored 1 try in their last 3 games. kinda disappoints me to think that the game has become a gridlock. something needs to be done to free up the game. maybe bring back david campese or something :D |
dlishsguy - no thanks! haha ha

that was the quarter finals was it not?
then in the semis against france they didnt score..no one did..and again in the final no one scored. im starting to think that portugal scored more tries than england did throughout the whole tournament even though portugal lost every game. i did hear that they scored a try in every game they played. i still rekon a campo comeback is on the cards. |
