Tiger Woods wins 60th tournament

Tiger has 60 TOUR wins before the age of 32

Tiger has more than $75M in official TOUR earnings

and he is still inking endorsement contract like this:

[qoute]LEMONT, Ill. -- Along with being a Nike client since turning pro, Tiger Woods has endorsed everything from automobiles to financial services to watches to video games. His next deal likely will be a sports drink.

Woods said Friday he is close to signing an endorsement with Gatorade.

"We're talking about Gatorade right now, and we're working on hopefully finalizing a contract," he said after a second straight 67 in the BMW Championship left him one shot out of the lead.

Golfweek magazine reported on its Web site that Woods has agreed to a five-year deal that could pay him as much as $100 million. The magazine cited sources it did not identify as saying the compensation would be based on an endorsement fee and royalties from the sales of at least three Gatorade products, included a new drink that would be named after Woods.

Woods said he considered another company, but did not say which one. Golfweek reported that Gatorade beat out a bid by Vitamin Water that was said to be worth up to $75 million.

The deal comes about four months after his longtime endorsement with American Express expired amicably, with both sides wanting to go in a different direction. Among the endorsements Woods currently has are Nike, Buick, Tag Heuer, Accenture, Gillette and Electronic Arts, which has a video game that Woods promoted last week in New York. [/quote]

He in my opinion will be the first $1 billion sports figure.

I wonder what Michael Jordan's total is up to...hell, he may already have passed a billion.

in any case, Im sure Tiger will be the record holder before he's done (if not already).

I looked up several sites, and they all estimated Michael Jordan's net worth as between $398 and $408 million.. so, essentially he's probably worth $400 million.

Also, the consensus estimation for Tiger Woods seemed to be $300 million.

But... considering that Michael Jordan's career as an athlete is pretty much done, and Tiger pulled in $112 million last year... He's definitely going to beat Jordan, but it will be interesting to see if he breaks the billion barrier, and how long it takes him.

You know, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus, both retired and decades past being competitive golfers, still make bags of cash with their clothing lines, sports equipment lines, and various other endorsements. Tiger has another 50 years worth of money making in him, so he'd a good bet, with inflation, to hit the billion mark at some juncture.

This guy is a machine. The only thing that can limit him and or his potential accomplishments is his will to stay at this very high level. If he can keep it up over the next 10-15 years he will top the most successful (financially and within his sport) athlete EVER!

The cash means nothing to me. The only true measure is how many major titles Tiger wins. If that were the poll question, I would say that Tiger will have more than Nicklaus in the end.
