I like Rich Franklin to. Alot of "Pride Fans" give him shit but he is a dominant and fairly well-rounded fighter. Alot of people especially started trash talking after his loss to Anderson Silva, who by the way is the #1 middleweight fighter in the world, there is no shame in losing to a guy like that.

well, i don't want to argue as for "pound for pound", but here is a list of 5 guys whose styles i really liked.

sakuraba (especially sakuraba vs newton, that was a bjj clinic)

kazuyuki fujita (i love his single legs, the one on sapp was a work of art)

fedor (machine, try dropping him on his neck, guess what? doesn't work!)

bas rutten (he's just nuts! and the slap he got on frank shamrock when they were both working the leg locks still makes me laugh)

genki sudo (excellent grappler and unorthodox striker, also some of the best entrances ever!)

you can tell i'm a little biased towards pride guys and grapplers. but ufc has it's fair share of excellent talent too, and believe it or not i actually like strikers as well!

I met Quinten Jackson at King of the Cage when they staged it at Soaring Eagle Casino in Minnesota. He was a really nice guy.

The Pride guys aren't shaping up as well as everyone thought. Remarks about lack of juicing are running rampant.

I will go on record as saying Jardine must have broken one or more of Chuck's ribs tonight. Chuck is so one-dimensional that he had no clue what to do.

If it's not juice, It could be the wrestling factor. You need to use some wrestling in the cage, in a ring it's not realy necessary.

interesting thought, can you explain a bit more?

are you talking about restarting when they fall out of the ring?

The restart is a major factor, but I'm talkig more so in the sense that in a ring there are four places you can be pushed into and you can use the ropes to help roll you out of the corner where your back is to a rigid post. In the cage, you can be pushed into and held anywhere and grabbing it is forbidden, not to mention it gives a bit and traps you in even more. You need to learn how to push off of the cage and use wrestling to do it (judo and Sambo would suffice as well, but ot so much bjj). It's for that reason that if you put Randy Couture and Matt Hughes in a Pride ring they will be considered disappointments as well. That is also the reaons Rampage is so dominant in the UFC and was a perennial mid-carder in Pride. Shogun showed no cage work or wrestling at all, with a bigger stronger opponent like Forrrest Griffin, who is trained by the cage master Randy Couture, you realy need it.

I wouldn't have expected BJ Penn to be a choice, but I personally agree. He's extremely talented, and possesses a talent that many seem to overlook today, IMHO....defense.

The reason Bj Penn is so overlooked is because everyone on the UFC payroll who isn't a fighter (save for Joe Rogan) doesn't even mention BJ until he fights. The biy was a superstar in the early half of his career, but then he stopped doing what the UFC wanted him to do and started handling his career his own way. So they don't wanna push him like they do Chuck Liddell and then have him leave, or change weight classes.

God forbid someone not conform. What I can appreciate is the fact that he does it his own way, and is still a surprising success story.

Definitely, I mean he went up two (three depending on what you see as his natural weight) to fight Machida and took him to decision. Bj Penn is just an incredible warrior.

Now this fight could be interesting, both have lost their last two fights. Silva is coming into this as the mega hyped Pride fighter. But look what happened to Shogun, Henderson, Cro Cop, etc. etc. These hyped monsters of MMA have been dropping like flies....

Although I think he will take down Lidell. Lidell is too one dimensional in my opinion

I'm glad the fight is finally going happen. But when it was champion vs. Champion, it had that element of intrigue which is now gone. The messed up part is that both men have back to back losses, and I cna almsot guarentee the winner getting an automatic shot at 'Page. Dana is all about the politics... which is why wleterweight has been Penn, Hughes, and GSP for years now. If it weren't for TUF, Matt Serra wouldn't even be in the picture.
