Yeah, the SEC is devouring it's top contenders... but on the flip side of that, there's a chance that 11 SEC teams will be bowl eligible by the end of the season, which is just insane.

I'm not sure ASU or BC can run the table with the schedules they have left... but this season has been so crazy, they'd never be this close to the top otherwise, so maybe it's fate?

It will be very interesting to see not only who ends up in the championship game, but the other BCS bowls as well. USC might end up in the Holiday bowl, while Hawaii and/or Connecticut may get an automatic berth to a BCS game. How backwards is that?

I'm going to the USC game this time against Oregon State. I hope they don't have another upset like when I went to the Stanford game.

USC won 24-3. It was overall a good game including an interception and something like 10 sacks. There was no scoring in the second half but the most important thing is that we won. Hopefully we will shoot up at least a couple of spots due to Boston College's loss.

Give me two good reasons why KU jumped Oklahoma. (One is they are undefeated) But come on.

And, Ohio State has not played anyone in the top 20 yet. They are good, but not number 1 good.

IMO, the top 4 should look as such:

Oregon
Ohio State
Oklahoma
LSU

ok, now that my Buckeyes lost, who wants to bet on how much they drop? I'm guessing at least 4 spots, maybe as many as 8 or 9.

this despite the fact that they have at least 1 (and as many as 3) more wins than other one loss teams that they will drop below.

and yeah, I know...this loss "validates" the criticism that they "haven't played anyone". now, I'm not gonna try to make the argument that they still deserve the #1 spot, but this loss is no where near as bad as Michigans loss to Apalachian State, which IMHO, should have dropped them out of the top 25 not to return. And yet, going into this weekend, they sat at #12 with two season opening losses to unranked teams (Oregon was unranked at the time).

meh...this whole ranking system stinks to high heaven. we need a playoff system, JUST LIKE THE OTHER DIVISIONS in college ball.

I believe that they will sit somewhere around 7.

USC won against Cal 24-17. It seemed at one point that the game could have gone into OT. Good game. The Trojan's needed that one.

Oh come on... everyone enjoys a pillow-fight.

http://www.dukesuperbowl.com

The funniest part on that website has to be that ND has the same number of bowl wins the last 10 years as Duke... ZERO. haha

Well... Fat Charlie managed to avoid Notre Dame's first ever 10-loss season. Good for him. More good news for ND fans... they won't get pummeled in a bowl game for the 7th (or is it 8th) year in a row.

Now, on to more pressing matters... this Saturday is the last in the regular season and both the top 2 teams (Mizzou and WVU) are playing. If either of them lose, Ohio State goes to the championship game again.

The fact that Ohio State could make it into the national championship just demonstrates the fact that the Big Ten is a pussy conference. Yes, I said it, the Big 10 is the most overrated conference and on top of that they're deathly afraid that someone will reveal the fact that they are, in fact, a complete sham of a conference.

Play a damn championship game like everyone else and get on with it. Put Ohio State and Michigan in the same division and make it actually mean something to win the Big 10. In the past 5 years, the SEC, Big 12 and the ACC have all consistently had better teams at the top and, more importantly, at the bottom.

And I fully expect my Vols to get stomped by LSU now that the Tigers are over the Michigan distraction. That was my only hope for a win.

Why single out the Big Ten? The Big East and Pac-10 don't have conference championship games either.

And yes, the SEC may be the toughest conference right now... but you cannot seriously say that about the Big 12 and ACC... let alone make the argument that they are tougher conferences simply for having a championship game.

I'm sure we could pull up stats and numbers all night to support either side of the argument, but it's still all very subjective because you will put different weight on certain stats than I will... so what's the point?

I said it and I stand by it. The Big East needs a title game, especially given how big it is and how good some of the schools have gotten.

The Pac-10 goes in spurts. We're in a competitive one now. Otherwise, not so much the last 20 years.

Given how big it is... you mean how it's tied with the Sun Belt for having the fewest number of members?

Everything is cyclical. No one team or conference stays on top forever... and that includes your precious SEC.

I agree with the jazz about the big east needing a conf championship but, i also believe the pac 10 needs one i mean come on spurts? the big east has been good for the last like 3 or 4 years only really and the pac 10 produces at least one bcs contender every single season maybe which team it is producing changes in streaks but it doesnt change the production from the conference. If Dennis Dixon hadn't gone down would you have accepted oregon as being better than USC which is playing great right now (granted oregon was as well) i kno i wouldve liked to see oregon and USC duke it out again for all the marbles. plus the big east has only one top 25 ranked team and outsider looking in in Uconn(which is officially 25 but unranked in the AP polls). the pac-10 has had 3 #2 ranked teams or higher this season. But, Either would get more out of a champ game than the big 12 which was weak this year which resulted in 2 slightly above average teams (Missou and Kansas) to excel.

I'm getting pwnd in my College Bowl Contest. Among the teams I incorrectly picked to win: AZ St, UConn, UCF, GA Tech, USF. The worst part is that I'm from Oregon and I picked South Florida only to see them blown out. Unpredictability is the charm of College Football though, too bad there's no way I'm getting my $20 back.

OK, since we all know my Gamecocks suck the big fat floppy donkey dick this year, should I be surprised the Fortuna, that tawdry whore, has put the Illini into the Rose Bowl? This is just wild and whacky stuff here, but I get to pull for my other school to beat the crap out of the other USC.

And Clemson lost.

I'm kinda surprised there hasn't been more posts lately... has everyone already moved on from football?

I'd say the most exciting bowl game so far was Michigan/Florida. I kept waiting for Michigan to implode or Harvin/Tebow to take over, but the Wolverines kept their intensity up, despite 5 turnovers and a blown 14-point lead.

The Rose Bowl definitely messed up when it picked Illinois to match up with USC. Georgia/USC would've been an awesome game.

Also, the fact that Missouri was left out of the BCS altogether is nearly criminal. They beat both Illinois and Kansas who are playing in BCS games and they dismantled Arkansas completely, who beat LSU not too long ago.

Hey for a year that was supposed to be a rebuilding year and knowing next year these guys have experience under their belt and one of the hottest recruited classes..... I'd say my OHIO STATE BUCKEYES did pretty damned good by just getting into the NC game.

Tressel is one Hell of a coach. May not always win the NC but he gets us there and whips Michigan's ass in the process.

I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but in the 2nd and 3rd quarters, WHAT was with the officiating? OSU makes a great defensive stand, then gets nabbed with the "roughing the kicker" penalty, which completely changed the game from manageable to out of reach. Toss in about 3 or 4 personal fouls for guys running their mouths or a very questionable late hit call, and it seemed like LSU was starting at OSU's 30 every time they touched the ball. Not to mention, the only personal foul they even showed on replay, LSU's player had a Buckeye in a choke hold, and the Buckeye just got flagged on a retaliation shove.

It just seems to me that the refs were on a bigger bandwagon than the media was for this one.

Congrats GEORGIA on their national championship.

OK, LSU beat the snot out of OSU. From midway through the first to the end of the 3rd, it was all LSU.

The roughing-the-kicker call was absolutely right. He hammered the kicker without touching the ball. It wasn't running-into-the-kicker since he made hard contact. If he'd made contact with the ball, it would have gone the other way, but the officials got it right.

The late hit call looked wrong from the sideline view, but if you watched the replay, the LSU palyer was clearly already out of bounds when he got hit.

Georgia didn't even win the SEC East. They're no more national champions than Tennessee is - and Tennessee beat Georgia, by the way.

Maybe the Pac-10 and Big-10 will start talking out some sort of limited playoff system now. Those are the two big holdouts here, and the Big-10 got hammered again in the bowls. Maybe....

Wow, the ESPN "analysts" couldn't wait to slam the Buckeyes again. Can you even call yourself an analyst if you are clearly biased towards or against one team/conference? I think the GameDay crew does a great job of providing objective insight, but I think the rest of the ESPN staff (Mark May, Pat Forde, Ivan Maisel, and Mark Schlabach, etc) has an obvious bias against the BigTen. I really don't understand why nearly everyone outside of Ohio hates OSU so much.

Anyway... congrats, LSU.

The only thing this season has shown is that there's no question that a playoff needs to be implemented to end this bowl BS. All the NCAA needs to do is say, "ok, here's our system, you can either play in our tournament or go play in some meaningless bowl game."

Any excuse that a university administrator gives that a playoff won't work in I-A is invalidated by the fact that a playoff in I-AA has worked for years.
