Is anyone else enjoying witnessing the team highest team payroll in professional sports history sucking as bad as they do?

Thats right I am talking about the New York Yankees, could not have happened to a nicer team, and especially their fans. These are the fans who expect, no demand a world series championship every single year. They act as if it is their birthright.

Living in Jersey I have had to listen to these people for alot of years, and as this season dwindles away for them they still think by some grace of fatass Babe Ruth they still have a snowballs chance.

But I have to admit I am loving watching the local news lately.

Too bad the Baseball Gods don't have complete control over the situation, as shown by Thursday night in Baltimore, when the umpire refused to call the game in a monsoon...until Jeter got a two-run hit.

As a person who grew up just outside of Boston, but not in a baseball-following household and still doesn't follow baseball...

I hate the Yankees almost as much as I hate the White Sox. Watching the two teams play each other is a special kind of torture for me.

So watching both of them struggle is pretty satisfying.

I'll agree that this is baseball bliss watching the "Tankees."

And no doubt about the ump's bias toward them. In the series vs. my Angels, there were several ball 4's called to A-Rod and Jeter that were clearly strikes. We still kicked their asses, of course.

Yup, goes without saying, but I'll say it anyway too. The way it is happening is epic, Proctor burning his equipment on the field, A-Hole always whining and then his dumb wife wearing a tasteless shirt, Pettite melting down, Clemens (the savior) having like a 5.00 ERA, Pussada complaining that they aren't giving effort, Jeter being melodramatic and surly, as always, Giambi, talking about his steroid use, and even Mo Rivera looking very pedestrian.

It just goes to show that true farm bred talent is better than $$$ talent any day.

A team full of should be all stars missing the playoffs will really make me happy.

Sparked by the recent returns of phenom starter Phil Hughes and slugger Jason Giambi, the Yankees have their full roster healthy and together for the first time since April, which fans around the world have solemnly realized is perfect timing for the stretch run.

"It seems like every time the [sports] ticker comes up, they're winning 10-1," said Chicago resident Jeremy Killian. "You knew this was going to happen. You knew. Right when they got Clemens back, you fucking knew."

Although the Yankees' schedule becomes tougher in the coming month, with multiple series against the Tigers, Angels, Red Sox, and Mariners, most baseball fans have resigned themselves to the fact that the season is "pretty much fucking over."

"What the fuck can you do?" said Detroit citizen Terry Grey. "Every call. The Yankees get every break, the bounces all go their way. It's luck. They're lucky. They're so fucking lucky."

Really, they were bound to turn things around eventually. They were grossly under performing their pythag (losing record but scoring much more than they were allowing). Still, The Onion said it best.

pfft. They are still under performing. Big deal they had a few hot games with hot bats. They don't have a pitching staff that can get them into the playoffs. This is one Boston fan who isn't worried one bit about the Skankee's this year.

They have the toughest schedule out of the remaining wild card teams and they are starting to lose their offense. Hell even Rivera is going through a slump. This doesn't bode well for a team who pretends they will be there in October.

I only watch baseball when the Marlins aren't sucking, but I do know that the Yankees will make the post season and will more than likely win their opening series. You can count on it.

The skankees have the hardest schedule in front of them in the AL East. There's no way they have the pitching or the offense for that matter to make the postseason. Their bats are cooling off and their pitching is suspect. The bullpen has tons of issues and as long as A-rod is on the team, they won't win another World Series.

I'm taking Seattle for the AL Wild Card.

I think the Yankees could do quite well in the post season. Even though none of their starting pitchers are that dominant they have three that are better than league average. Don't forget that they have the best offense in MLB by far. They also have a pretty good pen (at least the ones who would get action in the playoffs are)

Look at who's on the Yankees schedule from now until the end of the season.

Detroit, Boston, Tampa Bay, Seattle, Kansas City, Toronto and Baltimore.

TB, KC and Baltimore are all garbage teams and figure to add to NY's win column.

NY took took three out of four the last time they played Detroit.
Since the All-Star break NY has won more against Boston than they've lost.
NY is 5 - 2 in their last seven games against the BJ's.

So, you know, based on that information I think NY's chances of making the post season are pretty good. Keep in mind that I'm not a Yankee fan, but you can't argue with facts. The only way for them to NOT make the post season would be to have a monumental collapse down the stretch.

Also, what's wrong with A-Rod?

You can say all you want about teams being garbage, but when you're starting pitching is struggling such as the yankee's staff, it's hard to place them into the postseason. Their bullpen struggles. The only reason they went on a tear was because they had hot bats. That has already cooled off and will continue to do so.

What's wrong with A-Rod?? Look at his performances in the post-season and tell me he's a post-season player. He just isn't that type of player. He's the best in the game right now.. except when it really counts.

That's such a load of crap. You can't define a guy by a sample size of 130 ABs spread out over 10 years. If you want to talk about clutch stats, look at his BR Splits page. Not a ton of variance there.

It's not a load of crap. Ask any Skankee fans what they think and they'll tell you they don't think A-Rod has the skills. So what if he only has 130 AB's. With his talent, he shouldn't need any more than that.

His clutch stats are pretty decent.. but look at the Monthly stats.. he falls under .300 in Sept./Oct. I understand the reasons this could be, but like I said, he has an amazing talent and he should helping his team win when it counts.. so far he hasn't done it.

No, it is crap. From 1995-2004 he had a .974 OPS in the playoffs (103 AB) and in 05 and 06 he had a .395 OPS in 29 AB. So tell me, did he have it at one time but then lost it or is one of those sample sizes more representative of what he can do when it 'counts'

ARod wasn't the only one who had shitty playoffs in 05 and 06. Hell in 06 just about all of NY had a sub .600 OPS in the ALDS but you wouldn't hear about it. Instead, everybody wants to hang the highest paid player in the game.

Being an Angles fan, I could care less if its the Yanks or the Mariners, because we play well vs. both of them. Coming off of the road sweep of the M's to push them 5 back in the AL west and even with the Yanks for the WC. Should still be a fun last month to watch.

Mister Coaster Big & Brassy Location: The "Canyon"	Being an Angles fan, I could care less if its the Yanks or the Mariners, because we play well vs. both of them. Coming off of the road sweep of the M's to push them 5 back in the AL west and even with the Yanks for the WC.
