nope............my team sucked that night too,as well as last night.........
start out with a lead in the first and then fuckin' blow the game. might not make the post season......... bastards |
One more day has passed.
In the East it looks like Washington is the only team outside of the playoffs right now that is threatning to make it in. The two teams inside that are at risk are the Bruins and maybe possibly the Flyers. As a Habs fan I would much rather see the Bruins stay in then get knocked out by the Caps but A general Hockey fan would probably much rather see Ovechkin in the playoffs then see the Habs Face the Bruins in the first round. The West. Nashville and Edmonton still have a shot and it may be at teh expense of the Canucks (sorry Fly) and to a stretch The Avs. Can we ask for mor exciting Hockey? It seems that this year, more than ever or at least as far back as I have any possibility of remembering, that parity is amazing. I do always wish, however, to see all the Canadian teams in the playoffs but that will have to wait another year (again). |
Well, I shift my attention to the Habs. So long Leafs. What the hell was Kromwell doing calling the offside? He should have been trying to make a play, leave the stoppage to the holders of the whistles.. then maybe Boston would not have scored, and the Leafs would still have that .03% chance of making it.
|
A simple message to the Leafs.
Ahem. Na na na na. Na na na na. Hey hey hey. Goodbye. Sorry life long Leafs hater here. At least they didn't make all you members of the Leafs Nation cling to hope until the last game of the season this year. Go Wings! |

Disagree re: all Canadian teams in the playoffs. Every year without the Leafs is a good year! Now I can stop listening to every radio show in Toronto (especially 640) going on and on about one of the most pathetic franchises in sports today. A team with more potential than any other, but one that has been mismanaged by both its ownership and fans for decades. |
Interesting question here: What will the Leafs look like this September? I think that Sundin will finally be gone. Will we keep Antropov? I say yes. As well as Stajan. But I think Kaberle is trade-able too.

There are two scenarios I can stomach: 1) The Rangers and Flyers both tank and the Bruins surge past them into 6th place and meet the Canes in the first round. 2) Ovechkin's Capitals overtake the Bruins for the last playoff spot thus ending my personal nightmare. OMG - What kind of a fan have I become? |

You should believe in your team and be hoping to face the Habs in the first round. That's what we are hoping for from the Habs perspective. As of today, even though the Pens slipped ahead of the Habs, the Flyers fell behind teh Bruins and the Bruins will still have to face the Habs in the first round. Quote:
Seriously, It really does not matter. Until the Leafs make serious change in the management (above the general manager) of the club they don't have a chance. The Franchise is so screwed up becuase of teh owners. |

http://sports.yahoo.com/nhl/playoffmatchups I like our chances better vs the Penguins since we split the season series with them 2-2. Personally I hope the Caps make the playoffs by overtaking the Canes in the Southeast Div. Only 2 points separate them. |

 But I agree 100% |
Too many cooks.
Too many people holding the reigns. Just look at the whole firing Ferguson ordeal. |
you know, they couldn't even fire Quinn properly.
I'm sick of it. I refuse to wear my jersey. It's been in the cupboard for 3 seasons now (with apologies to Salming). Time to back a winner like Montreal. |
Montreal had horrible head office years as well but final decisions, at least, were always concentrated in very few peoples hands.

The Habs clinched the division title last night and at the same time knocked the Sens one step closer to missing the playoffs entirely.
The penguins and the Habs are tied for the conference lead - each with 2 games left to play. The Pens are playing tonight against - can't wait to watch. In the West, the Oilers got knocked out last night. They just ran out of games. |
Oh the Canucks... give up a golden opportunity to have the showdown with the Flamers tonight.
Bah, another year wasted. |
With the Pens loss today the Canadians finish in 1st in the east.
Here are the overall standings: East 1 y - Montréal Canadiens* 2 y - Pittsburgh Penguins* 3 y - Washington Capitals* 4 x - New Jersey Devils 5 x - New York Rangers 6 x - Philadelphia Flyers 7 x - Ottawa Senators 8 x - Boston Bruins West (Anaheim has one more game to play) 1 p - Detroit Red Wings* 2 y - San Jose Sharks* 3 y - Minnesota Wild* 4 x - Anaheim Ducks 5 x - Dallas Stars 6 x - Colorado Avalanche 7 x - Calgary Flames 8 x - Nashville Predators |

I am so tempted to change my Ottawa Pittsburgh prediction to Pittsburgh in 4.

Only one thing to say..
GO HABS GO!!!! But meh, yesterday loss wasn't really convincing. The bruins are not giving their life away easily but it's still 2-1..anyway I said MTL in 5 so they had to lose one someday.. |
Bracket Update:
http://img355.imageshack.us/img355/9704/example5kq7.jpg I am upset at the Habs loss last night, of course. But am I afraid? It depends if they use this as a wakeup call. The Habs have not played the last to games up to their potential. Actually the game 3 OT they played exceptionally well but anything can happen in OT. If they can play with that intensity in game 4 then they should be able to win without a problem. If they don't wakeup then Boston can win. |
Quote:
|
Not in thier control.
They can outplay them if they want but the wakeup is what will either happen or not between the end of the last game and Tuesday night 7pm. Thomas played really well last night. Price as well. It could just come down to the goaltending if things continue to go the way they did in the last two games. |
Quote:
Lot's of great saves and only three goals netted makes for an exciting and suspenseful game. |
The last period and the OT were great to watch, I hope the excitement keeps up.

I'm with you there. Nothing like an Original 6 matchup. And a Leaf fan cheering for the Habs eh? |
Quote:
There are no Leafs fans in the post-season, lately. Hard to root for a team that didn't make it. Since Ottawa's pretty much out and Calgary's chances aren't that great, Montreal is where it's at right now. |
Bracket Update:
http://img440.imageshack.us/img440/8210/example5ow8.jpg Martian, Montreal has been where it's at all season. Montreal did somethign special this season. No one thought they would be where they are. Very few thought they had a chance to make the post-season and most picked them to place outside of the playoffs at teh bottom end of the division. |
Quote:
Post-season, the landscape changes. There's only 16 teams there, so a fan's options are limited. I'm sure as hell not going to stop watching, so I choose another team instead; I'd really like to see the cup come back to Canada, hence my analysis above. None of that diminishes the accomplishments or Montreal this season, which have been nothing short of astounding. |
I actually feel bad for you Leaf fans.
As We discussed earlier I think that it is going to take a lot to turn things around there. It is not about the players and the team, it is about the management/ownership. They are just stuck in a deep hole. I still think that Calgary has a shot. |
