Boise State :woot:
Have to admit I only saw the last few minutes of regulation and the OT, but damn, what else was there. That had to be the most amazing series of plays I have ever seen. Gimmick after gimmick, but they all worked. Oklahoma is a serious hardnosed traditional football team. Boise State is not.
In case you missed it, its now on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ENwDDB0dlRk&NR |

Hook and lateral.
Direct-snap run/pass option. Statue of f***ing Liberty play. That may have been the best college football game I have ever seen. USC/Texas can go f*** itself. Plus, that clip doesn't show the best part: the star running back proposing to the head cheerleader on national TV. We were watching a movie.

Yup, unfortunately I only caught the highlights on youtube ... I'm sad I missed it live, but given my luck those gimmick plays wouldn't have worked had I stayed up to watch...
The game itself definitely is in the top 5 of all time, right? What do you guys think about how this game will affect the BCS and any hope of a badly needed 1-A playoff system? |

Watched the game from wire to wire and I think it was the greatest game I have ever seen. I was cursing at my TV when Boise gave up the lead (which was 18 points). I thought they were done. Then they hook and lateral to score. That play hardly ever works.
Overtime. OSU scores on first play. BSU has a 4 and 2 and they send there QB in motion and snap it to the WR? Touchdown. Fake WR screen/Statue of Liberty for the conversion. Coach has balls the size of church bells for that playcalling. Ian Johnson is a lucky guy also. Her current last name is Papadics. Fitting. |

Yeah, I was in Mexico for the game and it was a popcorn flying and loud yelling wild game ! The 6 of us watching the game made enough noise for 12 people I think. I grew up in Boise, Idaho so all of us were rooting for Boise State. The Oklahoma coach was on his 8th year coaching there I think, so he took less risks. Risk sometimes pays off.
Hopefully there will be a nationwide A-1 tournament in college football, just like basketball. Might be a little costly to fly teams all over the usa, but so be it. Jonathan Quote:

Assume Florida upsets OSU tomorrow night. Then you'll wind up with a "national champion" that has 1 loss, and the only undefeated team left in 1-A college football that's .. well ... happy with its Fiesta Bowl trophy? Yes, Boise State played some weak opponents, but they deserve a shot at the actual championship. I really do hope Florida wins, that'll hopefully rile up this playoff debate...

yeah, this was one of the best college games i have ever seen. In a couple years once the dust has settled i may say it was the best. it really had everything, not only did gadget play after gadget play work at the end, but it had the whole swing from here to goat to hero for the QB and the whole Cinderella theme going for it. As was said following the game though, if anything it is a vote against a playoff, because it is unlikely that they would be able to replicate this performance three or more times in a playoff format against top teams like USC, Florida, Ohio etc.
