fantasy football 1 question and one "would you take this trade?" poll

ok... i ended up w/ dominick davis... my ? is do you guys think he'll see some action this year?

now my trade ? it looks intriguing

his deuce mccallister and donald driver

for my marvin harrison and drew bennett

from what i can tell, bennett is a throwin and this is pretty much a 2for1 trade. driver is all brett favre has to throw to this year and w/ deuce mcallister, im reading that he's ready to make some noise after his injure prone last year.... another appealing factor is that i have reggie bush, so i can handcuff bush and mcallister.

opinions?

Well Davis is out for the year, so if he was going to be your #1, you may have to make the trade out of necessity. On the other hand, I wouldn't be happy at all with having Deuce and Bush as my top two backs (not sure if you have another quality RB, you didn't mention that you did).

Neither Deuce of Bush are going to give you great fantasy #'s, it will be more hit and miss. I would suggest dangling Harrison (whose stock is higher now that Edge is gone) and Bennett to someone else for a good back and wide out. Bennett battled injuries last year and wasn't always productive, but he never was McNair's guy, and McNair loved his TE's last year. Volek and Bennett click, but looks like Volek will be third on the depth chart behind Collins and Young, thus negating that positive. Driver is a great choice, especially with Green back to take the pressure off the passing game.

Overall, it’s not a bad trade, but I would see if you could get a clear #1 running back rather than starting Bush and Deuce. Don't forget, they have to play Carolina, ATL, and TB twice each. Atlanta is much improved on defense, and Carolina's and TB's defense need no explanation.

thanks for the insight. i also happen to have lamont jordan who i know is good, and chris brown and marion barber III, who i know nothing about on either... any thoughts on the trade with that additional info? the trade is still on the table.

I wouldn't do that trade. Though your scoring system is a factor too, some leagues really don't give much for WRs. If your league gives decent points for rec. yards, I'd keep Harrison unless a top QB or RB was dangled.

Ok, here is a possible trade.

I have Boldin and Mike Bell.
Am offered a trade for those two and I would get Reggie Brown and L.J. Smith and Marion Barber.

The kicker here is I also have McNabb, so with this trade I have a pretty good combo possibility in the PHI TE and WR.

Also, I would like Boldin, but ARZ has a lot of targets, so not sure how good he is as a pick.

For other info, I also have tomlinson and Ahman green and will pick up Wali Lindy tomorrow as RBs

Any ideas?

(should I do a new thread for this?)

Here's a trade I'm currently pondering: Matt Jones (WR-Jac) and Deion Branch (WR - Sea) for my Carnell Williams (RB - TB). The problem is that I'm thin at running back after that (T. Jones and Wali Lundy are my other two). The league rules are pretty well balanced, but I'm having a hard time giving up my #1 back, even for a happy Deion Branch.

Thoughts?

Hambone, I would stand pat on your trade, even if Bell is going to platoon like it looks like in Denver. You've got 2 #1 RB's on your roster, and shouldn't have much to worry about.

high_jinx 09-13-2006 09:18 AM

hard to know without seeing who your wr's already are, but if your already thin at back, then keep cadillac...he's gonna go up in trade value after this week no matter what anyway.

Here's my next dilemna.

I'm itching to pick up another qb and there are some decent ones out there to pickup (its only a 6team head to head league). i currently have tom brady and alex smith..... i also have a mediocre rb i'm willing to drop for a backup qb to the 2 i play so out of the following list, which 2 qb's would you take????

alex smith
byron leftwich
phillip rivers
ben roethlisberger
drew brees
trent green(thinking he'll get better sooner than later)

BadForm 09-13-2006 08:51 PM

I'd go with Leftwich and Brees. Green and Roethlisberger have the obvious injury considerations, and Smith and Rivers are riskier simply due to their inexperience.

Trent Green probably has more upside than anyone on your list so I wouldn't give up on him unless his injury is worse than they are saying.

Alex Smith could put up some very good numbers since SF will be playing from behind most of the year but he is young and a big gamble. Most games he will probably have to air it out to try and catch up.

From your list I would probably take Trent Green (until we know if he will be out more than a few weeks) and Big Ben or Drew Brees ( if Big Ben gets the start this week).

It's hard to say after only one week, as you can probably tell, I like to gamble.

high_jinx 09-19-2006 11:03 AM

i went w/ brady and smith for week 2 (i like to gamble too). worked out for me but i lost, believe it or not w/ mon. nite defense, my pitt vs. his jax! before that it was a 2 point differential and i thought i had it in the bag.

i agree about green... i had ended up picking up leftwich for my backup but will probably switch him out for green this week.
