David Abeischer has been put on suicide watch.
This may be a little late. But poor David Abeischer. Granted he's sucked hardcore for most of the season, but first he was trapped behind Patrick Roy for all those years in Colorado and now it seems Christobel Huet is bound and determined to take the starting job from him.
It's only been a few starts for Huet but look at his stats. 2.06 gaa (1st in the nhl) .933 sv% (1st in the nhl) and the big one: 7 shutouts (2nd in the nhl in just 32 starts. comparison: kiprusoff 8 so in 68 gp) with that being said...David Abeischer is now on suicide watch because he looks like he's going to be riding the pine again. |
Huet has been great. As a Kings fan, I'm pissed they dumped him in favor of Garon only to see Garon get off to a good start, then absolutely suck with an overall GAA of over 3.

I'm sure Huet will be like the vast majority of "amazing" goalies in recent years. He'll play great until his demands for an insane contract are met, then fall apart, or at best be average, for the remainder of his career. The only exceptions I've seen to this rule are Vokoun (although I'm not sure if he's got his giant contract yet) and Kiprusoff. This has even happened in a single season, with Ryan Miller of Buffalo. He was horrible last year, played his way to greatness this season, and as soon as he got his contract, he hasn't had a S% above .900 since, and has for now handed over the starting reigns to Biron.
Aebishcer was destined to fail in Colorado, as he was given the starting job after the team had already ripped apart their defensive ranks in the off season. |
The sad this was aebischer was playing pretty good hockey up until he was traded and now he can't even get a start.. What is worse is he is on my fantasy hockey team..

mine too! I had such high hopes. But in the end, I really don't care because I'm a Leafs fan, and I"ve got bigger things to worry about.

Now that I got THAT outta the way, I can't help but feel terrible for Aebischer. Especially knowing that theres probly 10 teams that would kill to have him right now (my own Canucks included). And Huet? I hope he works out, I really do, but can anyone else remember Jim Carey and his Vezina run? I didn't think so. |

Like how the Jays will do this spring? Nothing sweeter than knowing it was the Habs and Huet who put the final nails into the Leaf coffin ... |
Well if my Canucks are going to keep losing they're gonna miss the playoffs
So thank god for Abeischer being in Montreal - my other favourite team... Big win last night against Ottawa! Thanks Dave! |
