Lurkette, what the $(*@ is the matter with me? I bought those nice modal sheets, they felt like liquid metal, it was amazing... and they pilled. Pilled all over the place. Quickly. :(

The only thing that my wife thought might be significant is that we have a Tempurpedic mattress, which has sort of a terrycloth cover to it. However, I emailed Tempurpedic, and they've never heard of such a thing. We wash everything in cold water, with non-dye liquid detergent, no bleach. I'm at a total loss.

Is everyone else still happy with their modal sheets?

What does pilled mean?

Pilling is when the fibres in the fabric start to pull out of the weave. Then the threads knot themselves.

Ah, I have seen sheets like that, but none of mine have ever done that.

Gotta be a bummer if they were expensive sheets.

I recently bought a set of bamboo fiber sheets from Target. I absolutely love them! Unbelievably soft and comfy. And, pretty affordable. :)

i have the modal sheets from bb&b. i've used them as my only sheets since september. iwash them once every week adn half or so. i have regular sealy spring mattress. i wash on delicate cycle with cold water and dry on delicate (ie low heat) i have had very little if any pilling. the pillow cases are worse than the sheets. the only problem i've had is i got a toe nail stuck on one part that pulled it up a bit but it hasn't worsened.

i use a pretty regule detergent (costco) and no softener or static sheets and i don't iron them. pretty much they're in great shape. only thing i've noticed is some darker spots that seems to be from long term sweat stains. overall i've been very happy with them and will buy again.

don't know if that helps but, hey, mabye...

Huge cotton fan here too. There were some satin sheets at my grandparents' house and I felt like I was just sliding everywhere when I saw sleeping on them.

Hmm.....we have two sets, and both were very linty the first 2 times we washed them, but they haven't pilled. Did you wash them by themselves, or with other items? Pilling is usually caused by friction, which can be caused by overloading the bin, high spin cycle, or washing with rough fabrics like denim or towels. I had this happen with our cotton sheets got a sweater comb and combed the pills off, and then never washed those sheets with other stuff again, and they're fine. In fact, they're our softest most favoritest sheets, besides the modal ones. We've had our modal ones for a couple of years, and there hasn't been any pilling yet. Try the sweater comb and then make sure you wash the sheets by themselves in the gentle cycle.

Good to know! Thanks for sharing!

I still want to know where those pin-up sheets came from, and the book as well.

Hmm, there were probably other types of sheets, but nothing else. I probably washed them on a regular cotton cycle, as well as high drier, however.

Combing them is gonna take some time, damn. Ah well, my fault.
