Need a non-creepy way of finding someone... - Tilted Forum Project Discussion Community

I'm guessing this is the right forum for this - it typically seems to be.

I'd like to find out a non-creepy way to get ahold of someone I have lost touch with. I may or may not be interested in this person, but things were put on hold that could have developed into a great relationship or friendship. I was pretty good friends with her for a decent amount of time before we lost touch.

The information I do have about her is her name, her work number from over a year ago, which may or may not be still valid, and her mom's number simply because that's where she lived for a while. I'm not sure if she still does.

I do NOT want to be thought of as a stalker - I'm far from that. I simply want to get in contact with her again, see how she's been, and try to restart the friendship... maybe go out to a movie or a bar or something and see what happens from there. However, as tech-savvy as I am, I can't think of any good ways to figure out how to find her without coming across as creepy.

Any suggestions?

you've got potential phone numbers - -use them.. .call the work number on a weekend, voice mail might pick up... you'll know if it's a good number.

Call her mom's phone number and say you are an old friend trying to get in touch with her daughter.

I'm with sugar and spice, call her mother, I was good friends with a girl back in high school (first crush

) Still thought about her everynow and then, lost touch with her. Still had her parents phone number, this was a few years ago that I did this mind you, rang her parents place, she was still living there, got in touch, had a good ol' chin wag and things were good

Nothing developed out of it, I still call her on her mobile every now and then, or send her a text to see how she's going, but yeah, hoping to get a invite to her wedding one day

I tried Yahoo People Search, but there were a lot of this specific first initial and last name, and it also occurred to me that finding a girl's number on the internets just SOUNDS creepy.

Especially if she knows/knew that I was into her at one point.

I could call her mother, I suppose... I'm just not wanting to a) have to deal with a guy on the other line when I call, because if I get a mother's boyfriend, her brother, or God forbid if she has a boyfriend, that would suck... and b) don't want to have to deal with "lost" messages, not knowing whether she got it or is ignoring it, etc. I've called her work line before when we've temporarily lost touch... I guess that's the best route so far.

Thanks guys/gals... if ya have any other ideas let me know.

So call her. Tell her you saw something the other day that reminded you of her, and you got to thinking, so you looked her up to say hi, see how things have been going, etc. Talk about your lives, sincerely be interested in how her life is going. If she has a boyfriend, do your damndest to sound like you're happy for her.

Or call her family and ask them to gove her your number.

There's nothing really creepy in that at all.

Go to the address where you think she might live and go through the garbage looking for evidence she might still be living there. Gather opened mail, food with bite marks, and used sanitary napkins for use in building a shrine.

Unfortunately in this day and age, there is no good way to do this. I think the best thing to do is call her mother and leave a message and your contact information. If she calls you, you are good to go. If she doesn't, let go completely.

Listen here, you never know what you could be missing! But then again, its great to get in touch with someone you haven't seen in forever. I would totally used the phone numbers you have and like Sugar&Spice, let her mother know you are just trying to get ahold of her. Its that simple, go for it!
