Have you ever had unprotected sex?

I'm really curious about this one. I always see so many "Wrap it up" posts in threads about pregger scares, or in "new to sex" threads. That's why i'd like to see how many of us have actually gone bareback, even if it's just once.

djflish 08-07-2005 05:53 AM

I voted yes. Only twice though, and both times I was really drunk, so its ok :D

kramus 08-07-2005 06:01 AM

I have never had it any other way. Now that I'm getting a divorce I will have to discover the wonderful world of rubbers - yech. And I never got fixed so I fire live bullets as well. Double damn. Well, when the subject comes up in a future private moment I just hope for a cheery guide in the ways of modern sexual practice to help me with selection, putting the damn thing on, what to do with it when done, all that weird stuff.

yech again :(

snowy 08-07-2005 06:55 AM

In terms of pregnancy risk, I've only done it twice unprotected (though whether or not I was actually unprotected is up for debate as I was going off Depo-Provera), and would never, ever do so again.

In terms of STD-risk, my current partner and I do not use condoms. We have both been tested, we are monogamous, and as I am on a reliable form of birth control we see no need to keep using condoms. Were our status to change in any way we would immediately return to using condoms (I have a big basket of them by my bedside for a reason). Any future partner besides my current one will have to use a condom. The only reason this partner and I don't is because we truly trust each other and I also like to finish him off with oral (the taste of latex is truly a hindrance there, yuck).

Coppertop 08-07-2005 08:06 AM

Many, many times with a single partner. Never with a stranger.

splck 08-07-2005 08:09 AM

many times with many women, but I started before hiv was known, back when condoms were hardly ever used........AKA, the good old days.

never had a std, never knocked up a woman...except when planned.

greeneyes 08-07-2005 08:10 AM

It's been a damned long time since a partner and I used a condom. Then again, my number is really low and they've all been men I've loved and/or trusted.

bobillydylan 08-07-2005 08:38 AM

no never use them, when i was younger i would say i was just lucky that i didnt catch STD! but now i have to really know someone before sex...but it doesnt make any difference at the moment! im in the monk category...oh i forgot to say ive had the snip! dont want any children....

DEI37 08-07-2005 08:39 AM

Both us and our regular partners get tested, and it offers some trust when we meet new people to us, but are friends of our friends. Most of our partners have been bareback, and that's the way we prefer it. Nothing compares to the feeling (for both sexes, I hear) of a man cumming deep inside his lover.

Gatorade Frost 08-07-2005 08:42 AM

Yes. With both, actually. Never got pregnant. In terms of STDs, the first girl we were both virgins, the second she was a virgin, so I wasn't worried. I do use Condoms for the most part, but there were times.

Now the current gal (back to the original girl, actually) is on birth control so I suppose it's mostly protected.

Sugarmouse 08-07-2005 09:24 AM

i weigh up the risks before hand..with bobillydylan i was unprotected he has had the chop but i have to admit i was lil scared!i weighd up about how long he was wi his ex etc etc..the risks were low..with my bf after him i was cos he was practically a v reg anyways..i just wudnt sleep wi someoen i cudnt trust in the first place..STD s are nasty things!!im petrified of them.

guthmund 08-07-2005 01:19 PM

Yep.

It was late, I was pretty drunk, and looking to make the easy score. About a month later, she called me to tell me she 'might' be pregnant.

Long story short...It was all a sham.

Needless to say it scared the shit out of me, so...never again.

World's King 08-07-2005 01:24 PM

Yeah... All the time.

Well, not all the time. Only when I'm dating someone.

SiN 08-07-2005 02:14 PM

I've always been protected against pregnancy, iirc ..
... then again, I recall a couple occasions of 'late' periods, so perhaps a couple times not.

Against STDs ...

...i'll just say I've been very lucky.

I know I'm clean now, and in the future I'll (most likely) be more careful.

Bacchanal 08-07-2005 02:37 PM

I have 2 kids. Take a guess. :D

I always use one now though. I'm not interested in any more kids, STDs, all that. Plus, I'm not in a relationship, and that's the only time I ever don't use them.

HoneyPot 08-07-2005 10:37 PM

Yes...very bad idea. It defintely can put a girl on edge... yeah not good

World's King 08-07-2005 11:01 PM

The problem is that safe sex doesn't only consist of wearing a condom.

Birth Control is a very good idea. Getting tested every 3-6 months is also a very good idea.

You can have as much sex as you want with as many people as you want if you take the steps to make it safe. Trust me.

analog 08-07-2005 11:59 PM

i'm more of a girlfriend guy, not a "random fuck" guy... so i generally will start out using a condom with a girl, unless she knows she's clean... and i've never had sex with a girl NOT on birth control. So, condoms are a rare thing for me.

Demeter 08-08-2005 12:20 AM

Let's just say I am very very lucky never to have caught anything. Now I get tested yearly, even though I'm living monogamously, and I shudder to think of the terrible mistakes I have made.

mandy 08-08-2005 01:11 AM

when i didnt have a bf, ...all the time, never ever took a chance.been tested, im all good, i thought i had to, it would not have been fair to my current bf, whom i've been with for more than two years now, had i not been, seeing as he was still a virgin.

having said that, we only recently stopped using condoms as i am on birth control.

777 08-08-2005 01:28 AM

Nope

I was on my way to the company gala. The convention center had a security check point. I didn't think it'd be necisary at a black tie event. Oh well. The metal detectors were set rather low that day. Loose change or cell phones weren't setting it off. It's my turn to walk through, "Beeeeeeep.". The gal runs the wand over me, something in the left coat pocket of my coat. It's my first time wearing it. Was something left in the pockets that I didn't notice?! I reach in and realize that I had put that there in the morning. Didn't think it would set off the scanner.

It was a condom :)

bad jane 08-08-2005 06:21 AM

pregnancy isn't a risk for me. the only partner i haven't used condoms with is my current partner--in the beginning, we should have, but didn't. we were good friends first and i trusted he was clean, but honestly, you shouldn't trust that. it was a mistake to do so, but i wanted too so i did anyway. fortunately, it turned out to not be an issue--but i would never ever suggest anyone take such a risk.

livewirerc 08-22-2005 05:45 AM

I hate condoms, but unfortunately in today's STD/AIDS/preggo-laden times they're a an unfortunate neccessity.

Fortunately, I'm 2 years married now and haven't used them since my wife (then girlfriend) first went on birth control.

To answer the question though, yes I've gone bareback. With a fresh piercing (less than a week old). Bad idea, but nothing bad came of it.

AVoiceOfReason 08-22-2005 06:04 AM

Back when I was dating, I had more unprotected than protected (if by that, you mean condoms); only one female insisted on that every time. Another was OK with unprotected when it was safe for her. That was in the 1970's, and the others were on the pill.

Married since 1981, we only used it for birth control when it was not safe.

ophelia783 08-22-2005 08:33 AM

Most people have, even for just a minute.

aberkok 08-22-2005 09:11 AM

Yes. All the time. One of the best parts of a monogamous relationship with your first love.

MexicanOnABike 08-22-2005 02:20 PM

no for 22years then the condom broke...

cycloptor 08-22-2005 02:44 PM

yep....with current and last GF.... so there...

filtherton 08-22-2005 03:34 PM

Plenty. Had it for nearly a year with my lady friend. Then the lady goes on the pill and shortly thereafter gets knocked up. I recommend the pullout method over bcp's any day. That being said, i've always used rubbers in the past when i'm unsure of the other person's cleanliness or when they aren't the kind of person i would want to have a child with.

shesus 08-22-2005 04:12 PM

I hate condoms. With the first we started with condoms but after the first couple of times, I said forget this and went on the pill. I've always been scared of STDs and AIDS, hence I've only had actual intercourse with 2 people. But I found ways to have fun without penetration with a few others. ;)

Kalnaur 08-22-2005 05:19 PM

Nope, I always wear the little rubber rainsuit. I don't want kids right now, couldn't deal with them.

Konekochan 08-22-2005 05:27 PM

Yeah. Like others have said, on the Pill, so after awhile - 6 months or so - we stopped with the rubbers. Been together for just over 2 years now. Had one scare, turned out to be nothing. Probably should start using them again, just to be sure. That and they make clean-up a lot easier afterwards! ;)

hunnychile 08-22-2005 05:37 PM

Been married so long -that neither of us has ever worried about using a "hat".
As someone once said, it's like "taking a shower in a raincoat". We trust each explicitely, and I never have had an STD, unwanted pregnancy or anything remotely like that. One clean machine, I must say..and it feels really really good.

Loyalty has it's rewards! .....And it's a wonderful feeling.

noodle 08-22-2005 06:05 PM

Yes. Allergic to latex and lubrication paraphenalia. Tried twice with a condom and it broke both times and I was so severely uncomfortable for days afterward, that we gave up on that end. My SO got tested monthly after he caught his ex-wife cheating with multiple partners and he was my first. I only had to go in for The Cheating Partner Panel once after we broke up. I've been on bcp for 15 years and he was too paranoid and insisted on pulling out, so we were doubly protected on the pregnancy side.

**MOD / Concerned TFP'er Note**

Let me just make a simple statement- which will not be discussed, refuted, or agreed upon in this thread, as there are multiple threads already on this subject matter...

In case there is anyone reading this thread who is not as "worldly" in the ways of sex as some of us are...

According to anyone in any real medical field, people of authority to speak on such matters, the "pull out" or "withdraw" method IS NOT a valid form of birth control. The penis often secretes a little during intercourse, carrying with it the very swimmers you're looking to avoid by "pulling out" before orgasm, AND CAN RESULT IN A PREGNANCY. Comments to the contrary contained within this thread are the opinions of those members, not medical fact. If you're really concerned about it, talk to your doctor- or just ask a pharmacist, they will also provide good information, if you can find one with a few minutes to talk.

Please continue the topic as though this post wasn't here. Thank you. :)

- analog.

P.S.- anyone with anything to ask about or comment on, regarding this post, PM me directly, do not post in this thread.

the_ref 08-23-2005 03:45 PM

Yeah, but this was during a very monogamous relationship and she was infertile due to medical problems in her past.

**shrug**

Zephyr66 08-23-2005 04:08 PM

Nope, as long as you consider Birth Control protection. I've only had sex with 2 girls. I got lucky(no pun intended) with the first one, she was already on BC for menstrual cramps, which eliminates the possible problems of having to tell her parents, etc. And with the second, we just always used a condom.

legolas 08-27-2005 12:33 PM

she never went on the pill and we don't think it's worth risking a baby over a night of pleasure. one day it'll happen and it'll be all the better though.

Mr_Tickles 08-28-2005 05:34 PM

It's simple in my head...

until a partner has prooved that they can be trusted to be honest, and tell you if there's any problems (STD's etc) and that you both can be trusted with whatever method of birth control you have - then your buddy stays in a wetsuit.

I think within 3 or 4 months of seeing someone, you should be able to see if they can be trusted with birth control (e.g. does she take her pill at the same time every day?) or if he/she's the type to hold things back from you.

At that point a very open and frank conversation is usually whats needed. (e.g. "should we both go get tested" or... "do we have any reason to get tested" etc.)

Either way, it shouldn't be a decision made easily

this_is_vince 08-28-2005 09:43 PM

yea it feels great. better than with a condom.
