Date Ideas....?
I was wondering what are some fun and non-typical (typical if you don't have any of the non variety) date ideas?
I'm tired of the same old shit, so I know some people have some ideas out there. |
Ice skating. No matter where you live, there are ice rinks year round. :)

Baseball game
Build a Bear Workshop Amusement park (Disneyland) Hiking GeoChacheing Mini Golf Bowling Painting potery Movies A dinner theater place Go see a play Discovery Center or places like that Bike Riding Picnic Fishing Downtown in some cool city Concert Beach And evrerything else that is cool to do |
Ice skating is gold. It worked awesome for a first date I had a while back, even if I blew the second one. Everything else Mavric listed is a great idea.

if you know how... you can never go wrong with taking a girl sailing.
|
good one irate even though I don't know how to sail.
You could always ask the owner of the local diner if he'd let you have the keys to the place for the evening, and have a candlelight dinner in the tiny diner. |
i was thinking similar to irate.. a small row boat on a small lake somwhere. ahh.. supreme

One mistake to avoid: whatever it is, let it be something that you actually enjoy doing, or think you'd enjoy doing. Keep it reasonable -- no monster truck rallies on the first date, unless she looks like the type who might enjoy them -- but remember: you're not just showing her a good time, you're sharing some of your likes, dislikes, and lifestyle knowledge with her, in a way that shows your confidence in yourself.
If you just try to do things that you think she'll like, she won't really know who you are but she _will_ think that you're pretty uncertain about who you are. And that's not attractive. |
It depends on how far into the relationship you are. If it's early, you want something creative but not too out of the ordinary. Ice skating sounds like a lot of fun. For someone you've been with for a while, something more romantic like hiking in the woods and having a picnic while watching the sun set from the top of a cliff is romantic, and running around in bathing suits on the local golf course* when the sprinklers come on at night is fun and unusual, as well as memorable.
[size=1]* - If you're on a golf course, stay away from the road, otherwise someone will call the cops and a country club employee on a tractor will come out and chase you. |
I once took a girl climbing at a wall I used to work at, it went fairly well. It helped that as an employee I had access tot he place any time and could belay without having to test or anything.
Or for the less active individuals you might try something like finding a jazz club or smaller sort of pub to go to where they have live entertainment; the atmosphere in those places can be incredible. Or, if you're looking for something quiet, maybe a book club meeting can work. Just about anything can be a date and deviating from the old 'dinner/movie' standard can show more interest, since you're going to that extra bit of effort. The only important thing to remember is that it should be something you'll both enjoy. I once took my girl to a baseball game. It's not everyone's favourite and probably wouldn't work on too many people, but it suited both of our interests and we had a great time, so it was a good date. |
feeding the ducks at a lake, if she's outdoorsy.
if she's intelligent, try an artsy movie house that shows indie films, etc. or catch a midnight movie and throw popcorn at the screen. i love to play pool with my guy at hole in the wall places... i even win sometimes. take her to paint pottery or to a modern art museum/art gallery opening, if she's artsy. i totally dig the jazz club/pub atmosphere when i'm with someone special because it's more intimate than a concert and you can relax. try a wine bar, too, if she's into it. kinda makes a girl feel swanky. |
