Condoms on an Airplane?
 

I tried searching for this topic, but coming up with nothing using the various variations of condom and airplane. My question has to do with the safety of taking Condom's on a plane. I'm visiting my girlfriend in a few days, and instead of buying new condoms when I get there, I would much rather just bring the ones I have. Does anyone have any information or experience regarding possible safety problems that taking a condom carry-on can cause? The last thing I want to do is end up causing the condoms to break or get damaged. They'd be traveling with me in the coach section, so they wouldn't be in the luggage area by the way :)

I can't imagine you would ever have problems with that. The pressure differences only effect sealed containers, so if you're tying your condoms closed, I guess there could be a problem, otherwise, nah.

The only risk is if you use it on the airplane. You could be embarrassed or even prosecuted. And your girlfriend might not appreciate it either.

You'll be fine. The cabin is pressurized so it shouldn't have any adverse effect on the condoms. My only advice is to just be prepared for security to possibly find them if they go through your carry on bag during the screening process. That's just a matter of trying not to be embarassed. That's happened to me before, luckily the security agent just moved on to the next pocket of my backpack.

It isn't illegal in and of itself but lewd behavior, indescent exposure, etc. are. Flight attendants will eject you from bathrooms. I used to travel quite a bit and heard great stories from the attendants. Evidently it's more common for them to find people screwing around in their seats with a little blanket cover.

Small businesses exist at many airports that offer flights with beds for couples who have more money than mettle.

I wouldn't think there'd be a problem, but personally better safe than sorry. So I wouldnt risk it.

No one sells condoms wherever you're going? If you're that worried about it, then buy some when you get there.

Well, yeah. Nobody here is an absolute expert and the advice given is alway caveat emptor, as it were. I can't see why there'd be an issue unless the cabin depressurizes (and probably not even then, although in that case I don't think the condoms would be your top concern), but if you want to be on the safe side, you may be better off waiting until you get there.

Cabin pressure for passengers should be ~10-12psi. (14.7 is sea level, Denver is 12.2) Airlines let cabin pressure drop to what you'd experience ~5000-8000ft above sea level as a happy medium between passenger comfort and aircraft material fatigue. Condoms aren't packed with air and aren't sealed on themselves, so even if you bought your condoms inflated the expansion would be less than the difference between morning wood and Angelina Jolie naked in your bed. If your condom can't handle the altitude you'd see on a skiing trip then I'd vote for another brand.

I suppose the paranoid guy could write Trojan and ask if it's safe to order their product shipped by air freight. And do they provide child support guarantees? :)

I think the condom will be safe, what won't be safe is if the girl found out your secret "I travel 1000's of miles to infiltrate your crotch" agenda.

I think I saw that same sentiment in a Halmark card the other day.
