It's amazing where you end up by random clicking, I'm not sure where I really started, but I ended up at this site.

it's the Netflix of sex toys.

In theory I can see this as perhaps being a good idea, you can try out the toy to decide if you like it or not, but it's kinda skeevy, at least to me, wondering where that toy was before it ended up in my mailbox.

So, would you use such a service?

HELL no. There is no way to guarantee where that thing has been... and even if you do use condoms on it (as they suggest), what's the point? I like my sex toys because they're my sex toys, and I picked them out after much consideration and thought (usually after going to a hands-on, user-friendly place such as Toys in Babeland or Good Vibrations). And if they don't work, at least I know I'm the only person who handled them. So far, with my spendier toys I've done enough research on them beforehand to know what would or wouldn't be a good investment.

The only use I can see for this site is if the toys were silicone, and one could disinfect them at home and be sure that the thing was clean. But damn, even then it would be dodgy... I dunno, I just don't like it!

I honestly wonder how they get around board of health laws. You can't return, and have the store resell underwear or swimsuits that have been worn, one of these sex toys is obviously used, so because they aren't technically selling it but renting it, do they bypass the laws....

The WHOIS on that site isn't particularly useful; it was a private registration through "Domains by Proxy, Inc.". Registration was only completed on April 10, 2005. I find it kind of weird that they don't list their actual content, but instead "(Since you are not signed in as a customer you will be redirected to a site that sells but does NOT rent sex toys)" All of those links go to 'sextoysex.com'; if you hit that website, it shows that they have an affiliate system where you can resell their stuff.

So, what we have here is a clever marketing tool that will never become a rental company. Nonetheless, anyone feel like signing up for the Free Trial? Someone should do that (with a disposable address) and report the results.

Within 2 seconds, I was able to determine that this site is fake. It's a front for a sex toy dealer, but the renting part is a viral marketing gimmick.

Well, aside from the fact that site appears to be fake....

We buy second hand stuff all the time. You buy second hand clothes, furniture and the like, all of which could come from skeevy people.

I mean, my old roommate used to hang out naked in his room all the time. Check his e-mail, nude. Lay around in his bed, nude. Sit on the futon and play video games, nude. You get the idea. When it came time for him to move out, he sold his desk, the chair, the futon and his bed. So, somewhere there is an office chair being used that my roommate's bare ass and genitals were all over, somewhere someone is using the bed my roommate used to get it on with his skeevy girlfriends and somewhere someone is using the futon that my roommate lounged around naked on while playing Final Fantasy VII.

Not to mention, rental houses. Someone used that toilet before you, right? Someone brushed their teeth using your sink, washed their ass using your bathtub/shower, possibly had sex on your kitchen counters and floor, right?

I'm just asking what the real difference is? If someone wanted to rent/sell used sex toys, what's the big deal?

My last job, until the humorless HR department intervened, for a surprise birthday party for one of our colleagues, purchased a whole barnyard full of blow up animals. How is the idea of renting a sex toy different from "renting" a prostitute? (since you are essentially renting her vagina for a time period). Even with a condom, I'd be pretty freaked out if I was a guy... seems way dodgier than renting a sex toy, actually.
