Women's favourite colognes for men

Women's opinions please - which colognes/sprays do you like best on men?
Thanx.

astrahl 04-25-2005 06:54 AM

The scent has to work with the guy's individual chemistry. I like Eternity for Men, but it doesn't smell that great on all guys. I like soft, musky scents on men, nothing too strong.

And the best thing, imho, is to only use a little. If I can smell you coming or going... = too much. It is best when I'm close enough to feel the warmth of your body and then I get this faint, delicious scent ... mmm, <tingles>

GIORGIO ARMANI ACQUA DI GIO - super hot
polo sport usually works for most guys too. gluck!

akito 04-25-2005 07:58 AM

I have a couple colognes I wear:

-Drakkar Noir
-Pi

I've been getting many compliments about Pi.

Halx 04-25-2005 08:28 AM

I think it's fucking hilarious how batty girls go over acqua di gio. I don't wear stuff that often, but when I do... well.. one time I did, Buddah's wife would stop every time she passed me, sniff, and melt.

John Henry 04-25-2005 08:49 AM

I started wearing Issey Miyake (technically an eau de toilette) because a girl I really fancied at university told me how she found herself unable to resist sniffing the guy who was wearing it and sitting in front of her in the lecture theatre one day.

StormBerlin 04-25-2005 09:45 AM

I'm a big fan of Fierce. It's an Abercrombie and Fitch cologne. A&F can burn in hell, but Fierce still smells the best :)

alec 04-25-2005 12:50 PM

who makes Issey Miyake?

Shit, I wear a plethora of scents, i couldn't tell which are the best. I use cologne from Tiffany's, A&F, Tommy Hilfiger, Drakkar Noir, and Andre Agassi's Armani cologne

On lazy/non-going out days, just some Axe spray does the trick. Oddly, I really have had the most success with just Axe spray. Maybe the commercials dont lie.

maleficent 04-25-2005 01:03 PM

Drakkar Noir I absolutely cannot stand, that and Paco Rabanne were the two scents of choice of teh guys when I was in college, and it's just so overpowering and since i was in college in the early 80s it just seems dated to me.. (Not classic)

Shower fresh is my favorite scent on a fella... no need for colognes

Grasshopper Green 04-25-2005 01:19 PM

A lot of mens colognes smell too similar to me and I'll never know what a guy is wearing. However, hubby wears Acqua di Gio and I love it. He also has Curve for men that I really like as well.

Or hot and sweaty...

Au naturel works best, IMO, unless you're completely reeky.

Acetylene 04-25-2005 02:20 PM

All colognes smell disgusting to me. The only smell I want on a guy is soap, and maybe laundry detergent, because then I know he's clean. And heck, I don't even always want that. Sometimes sweaty is the best smell of all.

Sawfmonkey 04-25-2005 04:55 PM

HUGO cologne....drool.

And that is all.

Is that like marilyn monroe saying she wears Chanel Number 5 and nothing else :)

K-Wise 04-25-2005 05:28 PM

Oh boy I'm going to read all of these threads thoroughly! Especially since neither of the colognes I wear have been mentioned yet (Mambo, Cool Water) perhaps I'm wearing the wrong scents!

Asta!!

cowgirl02 04-25-2005 05:35 PM

I LOVE when guys wear Curve for men!!! Its a really great cologne!!!

K-Wise 04-25-2005 05:46 PM

^ I used to wear that one every day. I've expired my bottle though.

Asta!!

ShaniFaye 04-25-2005 05:49 PM

I prefer natural....but I have a great weakness for Realm

spincycle0 04-25-2005 07:43 PM

Royal English Leather by Creed. It's about 125 bucks a bottle, but i've had about 20 women in the past two weeks comment on how good it smells, so i'm guessing it's working.

Why doesn't anyone around me say that? The only comments I get are "You smell good" when I hug my mom.

Ummmmm.... why?

Everyone has different favorites, so unless you go out and buy every cologne ever made, you're not going to please everyone.

snowy 04-25-2005 11:48 PM

Sex Panther...

Okay, not really.

ophelia783 04-26-2005 03:06 AM

I absolutly cannot STAND any of the Axe products, but I love Old Spice and Alfred Sung, and go totally weak in the knees over Black, by Kenneth Cole.....

You can blame Majik_6 for that one! :)

'zackly - and what smells good on one person, might not smell the same on another because the scent mixes with your own body chemistry.

The only real rule with scents is the use - or rather abuse of them... Don't marinate in any fragrance - goes for men and women - if your scent enters a room before you do, you are wearing too much, if I'm standing 5 feet from you, and can smell you, you are wearing too much. Scent should entice people to get closer to you... it shouldn't be used to repel people. If it's strong at 2 feet away, it's gonna be eyewatering at 2 inches....

raeanna74 04-26-2005 03:14 AM

Preferred Stock. It was one that hubby wore lots when we first met.

Brut. Hubby wears that now lots. I feel almost jealous when he walks out the door for work smelling delicious. I want to smell that all day.

Old Spice. Grandpa wore that years and years ago. That smell give me a safe comfortable feeling so of course I love it.

I basically enjoy ones that have pleasant connections to the smells. Most I don't mind the smell of but there are just these certain ones that make that emotional connection for me.

Because my friend it doesn't hurt to know a majority vote and/or what a "safe" choice is. For example most of these colognes only have one mention however ACQUA DI GIO, has 3 positive responses.

No you won't please everyone but the odds of pleasing someone increase when it's something that is generally accepted.

Not every girl is a chocolate and flowers girl either but you'll get more hits than misses with that combination.

It would just be another option for a first date with a safe choice that will most likely have a positive response. I'm not going to go out and buy 8 different bottles of 40 dollar colognes. If I'm just going out out I just spritz on Mambo so I at least smell good...it's gotten some "Hey you smell good what is that?" before but not as many as my Cool Water has gotten me. So if I'm looking to hook up I pick a safe choice. Ya get me?

Asta!!

chickentribs 04-26-2005 03:25 AM

Sung for when I dress up, Joop for dressing down (don't know why, that's just how it has worked out). Always seems to get a good reaction from the ladies, so I'm sticking with it until otherwise. I have wondered why they can't make a cologne that smells like chocolate chip cookies, that would have to be a slam dunk, right??

K-Wise 04-26-2005 03:27 AM

^ If you smelled like chocolate chip cookies even I may be compelled to fuck you

Asta!!
ps it's a joke!

chickentribs 04-26-2005 03:51 AM

 Funny! I am sitting at my desk thinking if I could just meet a girl who smelled like fresh Krispy Kreme doughnuts! Ahhhh to dream...

ShaniFaye 04-26-2005 03:59 AM

I love old spice too....but it always makes me think of my daddy, so thats not really something I want to smell on my guy

Acetylene 04-26-2005 04:54 AM

These comments on sweet smells have a point. Seriously. The Body Shop and Bath and Body Works both sell scented lotions in various sweet smells including m favorite, Warm Vanilla Sugar, and the close second, Sugar Cookie. I practically guarantee a hit with the ladies--or the men, really, EVERYONE likes vanilla!

Most definately. Or even better - plain old dark chocolate. Mmmm. There is a woman's parfume that smelled to me like it had a little chocolate in it. Ici I think it was.

I have a bunch of different scents although there are only 2 that I ever wear. (when I actually do feel like putting some on) Those are Hugo and Dolce and Gabbanna--Masculine.

Wasn't hai karate 70s along with that lovely polyester leisure suit of yours... It's a good look that not many men could pull off as well as you do... I'd bet you smell yummy...

MEAD 04-26-2005 06:44 AM

Why is everyone so intent of baraging my senses? I already need to see you from 50 feet away with that loud-ass pink metro shirt you got on, and hear you from 50 feet away with you loud inane dribble about your favorite jean designer, now I have to smell you from 50 feet away with your newest expensive scented water. Hendonism! Jesus, whatever you wear (a scent or clothes), be tasteful and classy about it. Like one above poster said, let the person be very close before they can actually smell that you are wearing something, it's sexier that way, and a nice surprise, rather than some huge smelly desprate cry for attention. Be yourself and smell like yourself, but if you wanna add a kick to entice some fine ladides; make it the kick that drives them crazy when you've got them already pressed to your chest, not the kick that sends your musky ass out of their interest completely.

LoganSnake 04-26-2005 07:33 AM

I never imagined Aqua Di was so popular. I got a bottle for my birthday recently and I love it. Have yet to wear it casually (mall n' such).

I wear Old Spice Pure Sport daily. Coupled with the scent that my Adiddas Sport stick deodorant produces, it's awesome. Girls love it.
