It's a novel concept, but still really weird... I can't imagine the people one could pick up at Wal-Mart.

Scratch that, I can. Not goin' there.

Yeah...no thanks. Maybe I'd go with some popcorn and cotton candy...
OH, that was mean.

I wonder what their return policy is, if it doesn't work out.

StanT -

I live down here in Parker and we have a rather nice Wal-Mart that has a middle to upper class clientele. I find my head turning in different directions quite a bit as I walk through the store; quite a difference between the Parker Wal-Mart and the Aurora Wal-Mart (where I used to live).

For people outside of Colorado--Parker is an affluent town that is in the building stages so there is not much of a variety of stores yet so Wal-Mart gets a lot of business down here.

Our Wal-Mart is very clean, very friendly and a nice place to shop.

Not that I would go to Wal-Mart to meet women, but the view in our store is actually quite pleasant.

Interesting concept....

Get cleaned up in the bathroom, update your look from the new shipment of great clothes, head over the cosmetics for some perfume or cologne, meet someone at a flirting point and have some wine & cheese, stop by the pharmacy for some Viagra & condoms then off to furniture to end the evening.

A whole date without ever leaving the store!

Hey, don't knock it until you've tried it.

Wal*Mart is everywhere and everyone shops there; Even good looking women. ;)

I think it could be the next big thing. No, really - it's a natural, it works for all parties. Seeing as the general run of folks do need to pay attention to the bottom line you don't need to worry about your elitist position leaving you pushing your empty cart about week after week, trailing a forlorn red ribbon as you look into the eyes of strangers, looking without hope for something more than the harried vacancy of the bingo playing bargain bin shoppers. Maybe I should go pick up a box of Tide ...

Wow everything from cribs to coffins under one roof and now mates too!

thalakos315 04-12-2005 04:02 AM

is there anything wal-mart wont' do? i'm fully expecting them to start renting out small hotel rooms, can you imagine getting a gift certificate for a wal-mart hotel room? ;)

braisler 04-12-2005 04:35 AM

It is a cute idea. Maybe an alternative to the smoky nightclub scene. But that has got to be one of the all-time low stories of how you met. "Oh yeah, I saw her eyeing me over the discounted cabbage, so I made my move."

Right now, it is out in the international market, but not in the States. I wonder why for a US based company.

Here's something to screw your mind over. I hear/see a lot of people bashing Walmart clintele. Hey...I've done it too. It's fun. But, think about this. You were in there too! When you were in there observing the dregs and the drones, they were also observing...you. And ya know something? I've never once heard someone say..."Man, I was at Walmart today, and it was full of bizzaros. All except for this one guy...". I would submit that Walmart, being the #1 retailer in the country, is going to have a pretty representative slice of our society within its doors.

Scary...ain't it? :)

By the way, I don't shop at Walmart. Not only for ethical reasons...but, my ex-wife works there. How's that for incentive to stay outta there? ;)
And no, I didn't meet her at Walmart. :p
