Inter-racial? As in Human Race with another Race? I'm not okay with that.
Oh, you mean white and black. You're a fool. You know that, right?

A very good white friend of mine went out with a black girl for a while and he said to me that on several occasions he witnessed abuse from blacks towards the girl. Stuff like "sell out" being uttered while passing by just loud enough to be heard.
It always seems the ones to jump on the "racist" bandwagon are the worst perpetrators. |

From what I've read posters say in other threads that deal with this topic it seems like a lot of people on TFP have beef with people of African descent and are very much against dating black people.
Sad to say, but of all poeple on this planet black people are the most hated and despised. Racism still lingers and is very much institutionalized to this day albeit in a less blatant way than in the 1950s. (oops wrong button - TOK)

I dont have anything against them but I think it takes more understanding than a white on white realtion. Ive seen different race couples seriously lock horns on how to raise their children.

You have quite the balls to make a statement out of the blue like that with no evidence to back it up. I'm part of the most despised group of people on the planet? Wow, I don't know whether to feel honored to receive so much attention or feel sorry that there are still humans on this rock that judge people by their skin pigmentation. Make me really wonder about the future of our species if we can't get along with each other. Anyway, to answer the original posters question, date whoever the fuck you want to date. I don't give a shit. I'm black and my wife if half eskimo/white and we've been married for almost 9 years now. Do we still get funny looks from blacks and whites after all this time who have no clue as to who we are or what we're about? You bet. Do I feel sorry for them that they live such shallowed lives? You bet. In the year 2005 you would think that this is a non issue with consenting adults. But unfortunately, that's not the case. This is still an issue with many people due to their upbringing. To everyone who thinks that this should be a non-issue, I'm with you. I wish that were the case as well. Maybe one day it will be. As long as people keep bringing up their kids with their one sided beliefs, then this will continue. No matter if it's the year 2100 or 2200. Until then, what can we do? Try to educate people that we're all the same species, bleed the same blood and feel the same pain. Maybe one day we'll see ourselves for what we really are. Human. |

The "mixed race" thing used to bother me quite a bit...then it happened and when I held that first baby grand daughter, nothing mattered anymore...she was perfect and beautiful...
the second one was just as great, also... now I am proud to introduce him as my son-in-law... |

The only issue that should and can be argued in this discussion is that of culture. I once heard a comment in the movie Thirteen that stated this "If everyone dated someone outside of their race..there would be no more racism" Is that true? Possibly but there would also be no more individual cultures. Our cultures are our own and should be treasured. As hard as it will be for some to admitt it when people date outside the race and marry outside the race a lot of the time 1 submitts to the others culture and lifestyle and disregards their own. This is a fact because I've seen it happen. It is a bad thing but the coming together of 2 people who are different but yet not different is a good thing. So you have to take in the good with the bad. I guess one might ask if the good outweighs the bad but in truth love is color blind and love conquers all.
To be completely honest I am VERY proud to say I am a Mexican American. I have people who are my own people who have come up from and through struggles unique to my ethnicity. I wouldn't have that if my race kept mixing with every other race over and over and over until wait...what are we now? Well we're human and thats all you can say now..Does that kind of suck that my culture and people faded away over time? Yes but what I just said "We're human and thats all you can say now" is actually pretty fuckin nice too. You may call me torn on this issue. In truth I do have preferences in my taste of the opposite sex, I'm partial to brunettes and I favor latina's but does that mean I will always date one or marry one? No. Because we date our "types" and search them up for porn, and other such trivial things but we marry because of a connection. We love because of a connection and a sharing of that love and I don't always find that within my own race. Not every woman of my color has everything I'm looking for in a woman. So I don't know who I'll settle down with and I don't think anyone does. Should it be an issue? Probably not but also understand there are reasons why it's an issue besides blatant predjudice and racism. Also my sister married a white man. He's a great guy I love him like a brother and my neice? She's beautiful Asta!!

Inter-racial relationships, I just don't get why people have a problem with this. I still see people's heads turn when an inter-racial couple walks through the door. Who cares! If they love eachother then so be it. Clive Barker said it best, doesn't matter what color your skin is, when you open us up we're all red.

I can speak from my personal experience.
Interracial never bothered me. I was very non-prejudice until I lived in Indianapolis in 1994-95. There I met quite a few interracial couples (99% black male/white female) and they were around my age or younger (27). The thing that made me really take notice and become racist on this issue, was the fact that in almost all the cases I saw the black man was with a white woman as a social statement and the white woman was either into serious drugs or a true bitch. I know this experience tainted me for a long time. Now, when I see couples I don't care any more but at that point and what I saw, did affect my opinion for a long time. I will say, these women that say they will only date a black man bothers me because that in and of itself is racist. It's like me saying I will only date white women (I have dated some extremely nice black women and have no problem falling in love with one.) I have just found if you love someone the color of their skin, their religion, their ethnic background doesn't matter. But there was a time when my experiences did allow me to have a negative opinion on this topic.

I'm big on allowing people to do whatever they want. I see no problem at all with interracial relationships. It really shouldn't be an issue as many have said before, but there will always be people that are bothered by it unfortunately.

I (white) have dated basically every race in the human species. Everything from Eskimo to Combodian to African. The only time I've been given looks is when I was dating a black girl or a latina girl, and it was always from men of her race. I just chalked it up to racial superiorism (why is she with that honkey?). If they were good enough for her, she'd be dating them.

I'm in a white girl/black-white guy relationship. Err.. I mean he's half white and black.. I'm not with 2 men. @.x
Anyway, why should this even cross people's minds anymore? I actually thought people were over this sorta stuff. It's pointless really. If you're not attracted to other races, then so be it. |
