The Role of Female Directors/Producers in Porn Movies
My wife and I were having a discussion about porn last night. Her "complaint" is that most of the films feature "sex" that isn't "sexy". Men are visually stimulated and don't really need the scene to be set. Typically, a "Hey. Do you want to have sex?" is enough plot for us.
We went on to discuss how there has been a supposed insurgence of female directors and producers that have made movies that appeal to women. Do female directors/producers REALLY make a difference in the style of the film? Who, do you think, are the female directors/producers that have had the greatest influence on creating films geared more towards the sensibilities of women?

I don't know for sure but I'd imagine that most female directors are former pornactresses and that they are pretty much conditioned to create the standard "wanna fuck?" movies.
There is a high demand for these movies aswell so I'd imagine that those who make "alternative" porn either conform to what sells imediatly or do so some time during their career. That is if they find an established company willing to pay for the production. Personally I'd love porn with a good plot, the "wanna fuck?" porn feels a bit insulting to me.

Cimarron29414: The tiniest changes in location, dialogue, angles can add up to a completely (or maybe slightly) different film that say, a male producer/director would plan for. Also, some porn flicks seem to degrade women much more than others.. so maybe a female producer/director would appeal more to the sensuality rather than the wham bam there's a poontang effect. Then again, what HASN'T been done in porn ? If I watched a flick directed by a woman and then one directed by a man, I may or may not be able to tell the difference. Either way, it's porn.. some are cheesier than others, but it's all pretty laughable to me regardless.

I saw one or two porn flicks with female directors. They didn't seem any different than any other sex flick out there. Most porn movies are made very quickly and with very low budget, so most of them do seen like "let's fuck" movies. It's takes time and talent to create a romantic, mentally stimulating scene on film. But, there's out there. You've just got to weed them out. Some sites have reviews of adult movies. If you weed through them you might find a few good ones.

I love porn, But i don't know any producers names or anything.
I don't like porn movies that have a story line, Because the actors/actresses are usually so horrible at acting it's funny. I like the movies being produced by guys that almost make it like a home video, Like "Bang Bros" These guys do alot of different types like "Bang Bus" which is kinda stupid IMO. I think the series called "Shanes World" Is produced by Shane herself she stopped being in the movies and started making them or Co-Producing i think. Some of those movies are pretty good. The sexiest guy/girl porn that i have seen is produced by a guy is Andrew Blake, The unfortunate thing is that from the movies i have seen from him..There is usually only 1 or 2 guy/girl scenes in the movie..The rest is girl/girl Fetish kind of stuff. But the guy/girl scenes are definatly hot..His guy/girl scenes that i have seen is usually what's going on in the head of a girl in bed alone playing with herself, Then her being with the guy is just a thought. Very artistic filming this guy does..I would reccomend it to anybody who doesn't like watching 10 guys trying to stick thier dicks in one girl at the same time..I hate that shit. So much for not knowing any producers eh..Well, that's really all i know.

Certainly there is a market for "sexy porn". I wonder why more of it is not produced? Generally, I would contend that the reason women don't watch porn is because 99% is built around the likes of men. Granted, porn created for women would double your market of opportunity. Let's face it: we, men, will watch workout videos and get turned on. So, why not make better films and grab twice as many customers? I suppose the additional expense of producing those films is too much risk and requires too much time. Is there anyone here that thinks women producers/directors produce better films for women? Are there too few to build a correlation?

I personally thing the best sort of porn is a film that leaves much to the imagination. The brain can be a great sexual tool

i know women do porn, but i don't know right off who. go to www.goodvibes.com and check out their porn reviews- i think their staff is either all female or mostly female, and they do a good job of describing the vids. personally, the best thing that i 've seen so far is Michael Ninn's Fem Diva:Anais, which is all girl/girl and masturbation scenes. the way he shoots is really artistic, and the settings are really pretty and inviting. and i love women, so that helps! plus he uses all kinds of women in his films- tall, short, super skinny, normal, real boobs, fake boobs, and even one chick that was ripped like Jesus (with some really nice gams by the way). and the music is really good.
i think porn is one of those things that's hit and miss. but it's a lot of fun searching!

I Have heard that women are less motivated by the visual than most men are (this is a generalization and does not apply to all, of course). Which woould lead me to think the a female would be BETTER at making porn because they can see the "Shot" for what it is ... a camera shot.

The direction of adult films has obviously moved to serve the guys who simply are looking for "5 quality minutes" and out from the movies, to the point where it seems the vast majority of films are nothing but cum shots anymore. It is a shame, because I think a lot of couples could really use and enjoy films that sparked discussion and ideas between them and help to de-stigmatize sexuality. Unfortunately the "gonzo" films seem to do just the opposite.
The best bet for movies that put a little thought and money into production seem to be in the catalogue services. Adam and Eve seems to at least offer a choice for just about everyone, including Candida Royale for women. Plus, there are lots of toys for you and your SO to pick up discreetly to add to the fun!
