wow
here's a story for all you folks..
A little background on me.. i'm 26 soon to be 27 and I'm most certainly not a pedofile. I was at the gym yesterday doing my normal workout and this cute girl kept making eye contact with me. She seemed a little young like 18-19 or so. so after the 3rd time she looked over and smiled I walked up and said hi, introduced myself and whatnot. After a few seconds of talking the subject of school just starting came up, I then asked her what grade she was in and she honestly replied with.. "I"m in the 8th grade" I made a polite exit at that point and was shocked.. I can't believe girls look so much older then they are at that young of an age. Anyone else encounter anything similar? |

To add to Coppertop: Girls now act like the skanky whores they watch on Mtv. They dress skanky, wear skanky makeup, and act skanky. And, as you found out, they flirt with older men just to get attention.
The horrible thing about this is that society approves of this, and it continues to get more and more risque every year. |

i hear ya guys. i totally here ya. sometime i feel so horrible for even looking at them. my ex had a daughter who was 14, but looked a lot older. it's totally freaky.
|
To add to what La petite said. Girls seem to be dressing more and more slutty. Its not that their clothes are more revealing, its how the clothes are more revealing. I am sick of girls who dress like they are exotic dancers, I find girls who dress up more, more attractive.
|
I'm thinking ther might be some truth to the "steriods in cows" argument. I remember there were always girls that looked older. But now, it seems difficult to find a girl that physically looks her age.
|
As far as I'm aware, the steroids in beef and chicken story is true. The onset of menstruation/puberty for women is going down with some girls as young as 5 yrs starting to have periods. (The 5 yr olds may only be statistical aberrations; I have only heard 2nd or 3rd hand accounts of this, not true studies.)
I find the earlier onset of puberty ironic given our later onset of marriage, especially as compared to 18th and 19th century. |
I do believe it's the increase of good diet that is pushing down the age of puberty.
The age of puberty (especially in women) have been dropping in America since the onset of mechanized agriculture. But yeah... HS girls look damn hot (I'm 22, just outside my limit) |
Reminds me of a line from Chris Rock's "No sex in the champagne room"
If a girl says she's 22 and looks 16, she's 12. (Forgot the actual numbers, but these are close and get the point across) |
It's weird though because when I was 13-15 (1997-99) most of the girls actually looked their ages and most of them didn't hit puberty until 12-13. Now I see 10 year old girls walking round looking like 17 year olds...it's fucking crazy!
I'm the complete opposite of the trend, I didn't hit puberty until I was 15! By todays standards that would be really late. |
Let me express this in a comic I made for the school newspaper a couple years ago.

I was at the mall the other day and saw a group of maybe thirteen years olds walking around. They all had on way too much makeup, and their pants/skirts were so low I was afraid their vaginas were going to pop out. I think it was more because of shock, but I, a 24 year old, gave them the dirtiest look that I think has ever come from my face, and they all returned it right back.
When I was their age, I thought winnie the pooh watches were the awesomest fashion development ever. |

What was it that snagglepuss always said: Exit, stage left....... |
HEHE....That's fricken hilarious, yeah if I were you I would have walked out after hearing that and taking a shower for how dirty I would have felt.

Don't worry in a few years you will be of an age where even 20 year old women look too young...

it's the hormones in beef and fast food and probably processed foods that help contribute to the faster maturation.
also, middleschoolers/freshman are BIGGER than I remember. Not even fat necessarily (though a lot of times a bit chubier), but just.. meatier. you can usually tell the difference between a highschooler and college student (even if lookswise, the highschooler looks older or the same age) by how skanky they are like petite says :P a lot of college students i see don't even wear makeup... or hardly any. |
I once saw a girl and another girl making out at a bar together. I got one of the girls numbers and talked to her later only to find out that she was in 10th grade.

I remember the first time I saw an issue of Playboy. I was excited and interested as hell. There were naked women! Very quickly I realized, however, that looking at these women was taking away from the thrill of not knowing. While porn can be important to sexual self-discovery, there are limits to healthy exposure.
That being said, this trend is the same thing. My little brother (16 year-old Sophmore) has to deal with this every day. While I'm sure he enjoys it, when he becomes my age this exposure may have dulled him to sexuality in some way. I'm going to coin the term "the Britney Effect". The idea of innocence giving way to sexuality is normal for young women, but when it is brought about by MTV, which clearly does not have the girls best interests in mind (i/e/ normal development in this society), it warps a natural process into a fad. This particular fad is harmful because it promotes sex at younger and younger ages. Exploration is fine, but with it comes responsibility for ones actions. It is not healthy for 12 year-olds having having children because they were exploring. The damage is 2 fold: it dulls and warps later sexual development (for both genders), and it causes sexuality to grow too soon for young children (with the risk of teen pregancy, STDs, and rape). I say put some clothes on, little girls. You can dress like a slut when you're older. |
My sister gets that a lot, she's 16, but has been passing for a 20 year-old since her 14th birthday.
Part of it is all the steroids, hormones and perservatives in foods now, which has already been pointed out, but a big part is society itself. Not only are girls dressing way more reavealingly, but also, look at the music, like J-Kwon's "Tipsy". My sister and her friends go partying downtown at very upper-class bars and clubs every weekend, and just get in, drink a bottle of Vodka each, and smoke up. When I was her age, which was only 5 years ago, I'd only drank wine during ceremonial events, I'd never seen or smelled weed, and there's no way in hell I would've gotten into those clubs. There comes a point in time when everyone has to take responsability. |
I consider myself one of the unlucky girls with the "look older than you are" curse. Had it since grade 7. The difference is I am modest. I never dressed the way girls do now. Even so, I was mistaken to be a lot older than I was. I hated it cause it made me feel like I was being rushed from childhood to adolescence. Even now I have the same problem. I'm in my first year of university, and have talked to people who though I was around 26. Heh, once I was wearing my ring on my left hand ring finger. Someone asked if I was married! :O
It sucks. |

My wife and I have a term for this. We call them "Prosti-tots". It works for us. I sort of feel like this - it a girl looks like a woman and you see something you like, you can't help but look and you don't know her age so it isn't as if you are doing anything wrong. It is only when you know her age that you should NOT look. Personally, I just keep praying for male children. My daughter and I will just end up hating each other. What, with me making her wear a burlap sack with padlocks to school and all... |
If they are dressed pretty slutty, its often girls under 18 trying to look older. However, as was mentioned earlier, girls develop earlier nowadays. Even with just jeans & a sweatshirt on my 15 year old daughter could pass for 20.
|
Someone's going to have to explain to me the age of kids in, say, 5th grade? Presuming it's you age 1 year, you go up a grade...

My wife, my daughter, and a friend went to get coffee one evening. It was nice out so I was sitting outside while the others went in to get their coffee. When they came out, they told me about a man who was talking to my daughter (who was 13 at the time), and, before he walked out, asked for her number. My friend told the guy, "Umm, she's 13 YEARS OLD." He said the guy turned pale and stammered, "I..I...I thought she was at least 18."
Luckily, the guy was long gone before I was told this or there'd be one more man in this world with only 1 testicle. In my eyes, my daughter still looks 10. I need to open my eyes. |

Wow I'm so glad I'm not the only one. I have to deal with this everyday riding the subway and walking around NYC. Now only I could look my age :(
|
Man, I run into this problem all the time. I'll be walking in a mall and see a girl wearing clothes that HAVE to have been sprayed on, wearing 4-inch heels, and I think to myself, "Hmmmmmmm!".
Then, from the other side of the mall comes some guy wearing a highschool letterman's jacket with the "Class of 2007" on it and starts talking to her about Mrs. Johnson's math class that day. It's right around then that I get that "dirty" feeling and start looking for a police sting hidden in the planters. And yes, for the past 100 years or so, the onset of puberty has dropped in children by a total of about 3 years. I think that is in the more developed cultures, if I remember anthropology classes from the 1980s correctly. I had a professor that linked it to an availability of resources (food) that signaled to the body that reproduction was viable at an earlier age. I still get creeped out when I realize I'm scoping a youngster though - ewwww! |
