meh ...

I'm a girl ... and when I was single I went through my 'predator' phases.

It was kinda fun, admits I do sometimes miss it.

Bingo! All good men cross this abyss at some point. When you do you realize that you can go on about living your life without chasing your penis that's three steps ahead of you after the last hot woman you noticed.

Have been married 10 years...Do I miss the hunt? NO!!...Yeah it could be fun...but I also remember far to many rejections!

Do I think about it? Absolutely---In fact probably everytime I see a beautiful woman...I play the what if game...but then reality sinks in and I think about my beautiful/awesome wife and my two gorgeous kids..."Why the hell would I want to screw that up?" The bottomline is it's natural to admire the opposite sex. It just shouldn't be natural to act on on those admirations.

I'm just another lucky fool. Never had much luck with the ladies when I was younger. I had a few that I somehow managed to get interested in me. But I had no idea what to do, once I had them on the hook. Then, BAM, along comes this hot blonde that gets the eye for me. I was so stupid, she actually had to chase me. I was oblivious.

Let's see, 13 years later(8 married), no I don't miss "the hunt."

Only a skilled and successful hunter would miss the hunt after retirement. Disgruntled ineffective hunters such as myself only wish they hadn't wasted their youth hunting in vain.

Do I miss the hunt? I suppose. It could be quite exhillerating from time to time.
Do I miss the catch and the kill? Absolutelty not.

Staying with the hunting metaphore, imagine you hunt deer. You've gotten some pretty good deer over the eyars, but you've always been looking for mthe one deer that'll make you feel like you're a true hunter, a worthy prey. Say you find that worthy prey and it turns out a thousand times better than you had ever hoped. It is the perfect hunt and a worthy adversary. You finally catch the prey and it is everything.

After making that catrch, every other catch would pale in comparison.

It's like eating canned tuna all your life, then having a delicious fish dinner from the best resturant in the world. Every can of tuna you've had in the past, even though you may have liked it at the time, becomes gross and unimportant compared to what you really love. Thus is love.

Darn, now I'm hungry again. I'm gonna go have some fish.

The "hunt" is the most goddamn annoying about starting relationships.

I just got out of a 4 year long relationship and am currently trying to get with an amazing person, but goddamn the whole process is annoying as shit.

That's one thing I don't miss at all. I've never enjoyed it.

Don't miss the hunt, but I miss the freedom something awful. Just being able to spend a few hours in the basement with a few beers and a broken down motorcycle. Now there's always something that needs to be done or somewhere we need to go or something I'm doing wrong.

Never hunted. Was prey twice - one took my virginity and the other was my wife for 24 years. Built my whole life around that marriage and now being separated I have no life. No clue about any of this hunt stuff. Indeed, no clue about friend stuff either because the issues she had with my friends meant they eventually had to go ... So how does a broke out-of-shape middle aged loner living in his parents attic go about the hunt? Really, its just not an option right now.

I was with my ex for 9 years before she decided that she missed the hunt more than she loved me. It sucks.

I felt like I missed the hunt too .. but I loved her more - and I internalized that, never thought to tell her that. Go tell your partner right now that you love him/her more than the hunt .

Get yourself a 12 pack and a broken down motorcycle. Take it apart. Clean it up. Put it back together. Doesn't matter if you don't think you can do it. Hell, it doesn't matter if it never runs again. Though it would be pretty cool, 'cuz a broke out of shape middle age loner with a motorcycle is a bad boy and chicks dig bad boys. Though to me, my bikes were never about picking up women, it's about the freedom and the speed. My wife won't get on my bike and in fact it no longer even has a passenger seat or pegs.

In all seriousness though - find yourself a hobby. Use your time constructively and the rest will fall into place one way or another.

That's funny

Actually I am focussed on my art. I have a gift that for years I never really paid attention to. I'm paying attention to it now

Thrill of the hunt? Don't miss it at all. It was never a "thrill" to begin with.
