I love dancing, and my girlfriend thinks it's hot. suits me fine :-)

I don't necessarily "only dancing when it's with a girl." In fact, I actually prefer it when i'm alone. *shurg*

snowy 01-17-2005 01:30 PM

I love to dance.

This last Thursday I went out with three girls and two guys and we all got dirty on the dance floor at a local bar. Very fun times. :)

guthmund 01-17-2005 02:27 PM

I like ballroom, swing and square dancing.

Yes. Square dancing. I took a dancing course instead of a physical education course at the college. It was fun even though I can't dance.

I can play music and have pretty good rhythm for a white boy, but there's some disconnect between my brain and the rest of my body that keeps me from dancing well. If you can imagine Elaine Benes from Seinfeld dancing and having some sort of seizure, you get the idea. Only much, much worse. ;)

Blackthorn 01-17-2005 02:32 PM

Hilarious poll options!!

You forgot one: I am male/female and I dance like Elaine on Seinfeld but I still think I'm a dancing machine!

:D

drakers 01-17-2005 02:41 PM

Dancing? I don't dance.

ratbastid 01-17-2005 03:06 PM

What is this "I dance badly" hogwash?

Guess what: nobody's looking. They're all worried about how bad they look!

Heres 1 DON'T think about it so much just let go and have fun. If people are looking at you and you're having a good time they're not going to think wow that jackass really sucks at dancing they're gonna think haha wow that guys having fun he sure knows how to have a good time. All the other guys girls will wish they're man was like that.

Couple a drinks should help you loosen up but just don't drink too many...loose your coordination haha. DON'T try to do "moves" then you will get laughed at..by your partner...could be a good or bad thing depending on who you're with they could think it's funny or embarrassing....ever seen the movie THE WOOD before? Remember when homeboy was on the dance floor with the girl doin just fine till he tried to do some "moves" then she walked away? Thats pretty true to life my friend. Don't do moves unless you CAN do moves haha. If you can rock to the beat thats pretty much all you need to do for hip-hop dancin. Girls are happy to help you with dancing too if they like you..don't be to proud to get help if you want it. The more you do it the more natural it will become and the more you'll let yourself go when you do it.

Try it out man...if ya lose anything(doubtful) it won't be the end of yer life. Confidence man try not to be too self-conscious and you'll do aight.

Man, i love busting it out on the dance-floor. I can dance like Usher.

Zephyr66 01-17-2005 06:43 PM

I'm a little white guy, so no, no dancing for me

doncalypso 01-17-2005 06:56 PM

I took ballroom dancing lessons for about five years... I love to dance, especially dances like the cha-cha-cha, the rhumba, salsa, and merengue. I retained only the rudimentary basics of the tango and slow waltz, and for the life of me I can't do the samba (even though it is one cool dance).

What can I say... the ladies love a man who can dance, so why would I not learn to enjoy this activity?

sammy776 01-17-2005 08:24 PM

i'm sorry i just dont understand it. i enjoy watching women do but men look gay doing it

Sweetpea 01-17-2005 08:28 PM

I know several people, males and females . . .myself included that enjoy dancing . . . it's relaxing and you can really let go IMHO . . . damn it . . . why does it have to be monday . . . wish it were friday........ :|

K-Wise 01-17-2005 08:29 PM

Who'da thought men could look gay doing anything other than sharing signs of affection with a member of the same sex...haha not judging I do it to just saying...Kind of behaviour is ruining things for people...if ya dance yer gay, if ya like to dress yer gay, if ya like music someone else finds questionable yer gay..meanwhile those that are actually gay don't always fit these stereotypes to begin with.

I cannot dance. I don't care if nobody is looking. I am very self-conscience (sp?) anyway. I can't stand the thought that people might be looking and/or laughing at me.

munchen 01-17-2005 08:33 PM

I can enjoy slow dancing and grinding but i don't get regular dancing. I want to because i have rythem, i just dont know what to do with it. I'll put it like this. With baseball you have a purpose and mechanics to acheive it ie. hit the ball, feild it and throw it to first. With hockey you have to score on the other team or prevent them from scoring. With dancing they just put you out on the floor and yell "Go"

I'm sure most of the time thats all it is man. Just a thought in your head. The only one looking at you is whoever it is you're dancing with...maybe the company you came to the venue with but other than that...everyone else is too busy looking at themselves and their partner to look at you. If your friends try to make fun of you ignore them. They're just doing it because they don't have the guts to do it themselves and are trying to discourage you from doing it so they aren't the only ones. You'll never learn how if you don't try it ya know?

SntrRck 01-17-2005 09:24 PM

I love dancing, but I don't do it nearly enough.

I've had some of the best nights out just hitting a bar or club, downing a few drinks, and getting off my ass when the DJ spins a hot track. It is funny though, while I love dancing with girls, I never really went to get up on complete strangers. Usually I went with a group of friends (mostly girls) and got plenty of action acting as a safe base. I'd dance with one or two, and while others went off and if some creepy guy was getting way too gropey they'd just shimmy up to me and I'd help him get the message by basically being in the way.

Dancing is the most sensual thing you can do besides sex, and I think its best -like sex- with some one you at least know at little bit, enough to be comfortable around.

Besides bar dancing, I like to slow dance with my lady friend, and I like to crank the stereo and dance with myself. Billy would be proud.

ryfo 01-17-2005 09:27 PM

it depends on how much i have had to drink

Maybe you missed the whole elaine/seizure thing, but believe me at 6'3", husky (do people even use that word anymore?) and with my dancing "skills," everybody is looking at me and most likely estimating safe escape routes from the dance floor.

If only it were a question of confidence.... :)

martinguerre 01-17-2005 11:45 PM

learning to love it. i've never been "good" and i've still probably got a lot to learn. but at the last dance here at school...

i told myself that i was going to have a good time, and asked someone to dance everytime i felt like it. even learned the basic swing step despite being less than sober at the time. for me, i enjoy dancing as much as i'm willing to trust myself.

dirtyrascal7 01-17-2005 11:52 PM

in high school, like every other male, i thought dancing was stupid and made sure everyone knew i thought dancing was stupid. then one night i decided that wasn't much fun... so i started dancing as if no one was looking. over 5 years later, i still dance like no one is looking... but i don't care if they are b/c i'm damned good at it now. ;)

back then i danced to try to win over the girls, but now i really don't care... i dance because i enjoy it. i think its fun, especially when i'm dancing around other people who think it's fun... or especially when i'm drunk.

when i go dancing at the bars, i think my favorite part of the night is right before close... when everyone still on the dance floor is there because they're having too much fun to stop, not caring how bad they're dancing or who they're seen with. those are the people i like dancing around. :)

Just feel awkward and gawky out there. And the last time I ask a gal to dance (actually, I cut in), she fled to her seat as soon as I started. Now adays, I've been taking some kung fu, so I got some rythme. I might just brake out in to my "Drunken Master" impression :D

But come this spring, I might take a dance class at school and see what can come out of that.

WriterZero 01-18-2005 05:26 AM

I would enjoy it if I felt I could do it well. ;)

Cervantes 01-18-2005 07:26 AM

I can't say I enjoy dancing the modern Disco-bleg.. It brings up too many associations of monkey and ape mating behaviour.

But on the other hand I most certainly enjoy the more sober dances like Tango and Walz for some reason...

Hmm... Discovery channel generation?

veruca 01-18-2005 08:40 AM

I love to dance...LOVE IT...and it is soooo sexy when a guy is a good dancer...there have been a few times it has gotten too "hot" on the dance floor so we took it home.

Seaver 01-18-2005 09:51 AM

I can dance the salsa, merengue, tejano, I'm one of the best 2 steppers I know, and am currently learning swing. I've never taken a class for these in my life.

Honestly guys, one of the EASIEST pickup lines is "I've never done this before, would you mind teaching me how to dance?"

This is good because even if you DO know how to dance you have an instant excuse to be bad at it. It's also great because you can make her laugh by constantly cracking jokes while doing it. Ever since college started I've met EVERY single girlfriend of mine (have 3 at the moment) from dancing.

When I go to the country-western bars I dont even get to leave the dance floor usually because girls will grab me as I'm walking off (for some reason in Austin no one can 2step worth a damn). In salsa bars I'm one of the only straight white males there, so the competition is very small.

Look, I dont care if you think you dont have rhythm. I never danced till I was a junior in HS, I was horrid at it at first, then I developed how to listen to the rhythm of the song, and suddenly BAM I could dance. Give it a shot, give it another, give it another, eventually you'll be comfterble enough and confident enough to do it well. And we all know nothing turns on women more than confidence.

Hmmm.. You might be on to something there. Maybe I should try that one out. Thanx for the tip!

hambone 01-18-2005 11:50 AM

I am so bad at dancing, that I can't like it. You would think being a drummer would enable to have some sort of rythm...guess not.

Love like you have never been hurt before
Dance like no one is watching
Work like you don't need money
life is a journey not a destiny.

This is a question that has always befuddled me. Why guys don't like to dance or make an attempt to learn how to dance.

I too was in a breakdancing crew back in the 80's and then just learned how to dance with a partner.

Guys, I'm telling you when you're out there dancing with a friend, as someone who knows how to move on the floor and acts like you're having a good time, it is unbelievable the amount of girls that will ask YOU if YOU want to dance. Even old fat guys..... like me.

The only thing I don't know how to dance, as far as mainstream dancing goes, is two-stepping. And that's the biggest thing up here in the TX panhandle, that and spanish dancing.

FngKestrel 01-18-2005 03:05 PM

I've taken a few dancing classes for fun or class credit, and enjoy it, but I don't do it often enough to really remember the steps. So I end up taking the beginner class over and over again.

HalcyonDaze 01-18-2005 05:45 PM

I can't dance well, but I like to skank, and rudimentarily swing. What I really like to do, though, is to be at home with just me and a girl, turn up the music, and dance in the bedroom. Just bounce around and have fun.

Now I gotta go find another girl. :-/

TexanAvenger 01-18-2005 05:55 PM

I absolutely love to dance. Given, at first there's usually a "I'm gonna look like an idiot" feeling, but once I'm past that, there's no turning back. Once I start dancing, it feels like falling in love.

Grasshopper Green 01-18-2005 06:15 PM

I love dancing. My hubby hated it when I first met him but he's coming around now, and has said he wants to take a swing class or something :) Neither of us is the best dancer in the world, but we still have fun when we do go (not enough).

Kalnaur 01-18-2005 09:47 PM

I (currently) can't stand dancing.

minyn 01-19-2005 09:31 AM

dancing is a wonderful form of expression. its the movement of mind that cannot be expressed by words. its calming and liberating.

but thats just me, and ive been dancing since i was three years old. and for all you guys who hate it, you shouldnt. if you suck, whatever. what the real question should be is - when you dance, are you having fun? cuz thats what we see.

K-Wise 01-19-2005 02:04 PM

Most people I see in clubs dancing look like retards. I just like to sit down and enjoy a drink and conversation so I would prefer a pub of some sort.

SiN 01-20-2005 02:24 PM

female dancing machine :)

(ok, it's been a couple years since i've really done it ... but I know I can move ...)

A couple of my best lays were with guys who could really boogy.

(my experience has been strictly with 'dance' type music, club stuff, but not the real mainstream shit. no slowdancing or any crap like that. I really have personal space issues when i dance).

Ella 01-20-2005 03:18 PM

I love to dance and don't get the chance to do it often enough at clubs, but have been known to boogie around my 'puter desk from time to time...
