Well, for you, that's about the only option besides a vasectomy or not having intercourse.

If your gf is interested, there are other forms of contraception, like a female condom, for instance, or diaphram, etc.

get a vasectomy, or at least talk about it with a doctor. It's reversable in most cases, so it's not a life sentence.

Plus, you could make a deposit at a sperm bank if you know what I mean. No, not having your balls cut off and frozen... just cumming into a testube and having that frozen.

at least a condom plus spermicide. I would get condoms that have spermicide in the lubricant as well as spermicide for her to insert before sex as well. And if you want to be EXTRA safe, she could use a diaphragm on top of that as well.

timalkin is correct of course, while I would be relatively confident in condom+spermicide, and even moreso in condom+diaphragm+spermicide, if you REALLY want to be sure, the best thing to do is just wait. If you're in a serious relationship, it's not like she's going anywhere ;) :p

Let's not jump on the guy here...there are plenty of possible reasons his girlfriend is not on the pill, and that's not what he asked. He asked what other steps they could take, so let's answer and be nonjudgemental. He's clearly aware of the benefits of the pill and, for whatever reason, they have chosen not to use it.

Options:

Pull out.
Depo shot.
Good condoms.

Remember the biological purpose of sex and understand that outside of these options, sooner or later, you will become a daddy.

There is also the sponge (still available in Canada anyways) and the female condom (although I've been told it's comparable to fucking a glad garbage bag, which doesn't exactly sound thrilling). I wouldn't reccomend the "withdrawl" method tho, as people who practice that tend to have a name.. we call them Mom & Dad.

my girlfriend isn't on the pill either, we use a condom and i pull out just to be safe and give her peace of mind. safe enough for me and her.

before i was on the pill i was using pull out (we still use that), condom (we stil use that too) and sponges...but they have these cool tube thingys that like have thsi blue/clear gel spermicide and she can just put that in there :) but keep using a condom for gods sake ..and surgery? hes probably under 30..who would want to have sugery!!

used to use the pull-out method for a while but hated worrying towards each time of the month ... now we just use condoms

I now have two nephews from the pull out method. Do they not teach Sex ed anymore? Even the precum has millions of sperm cells! You can even get pregnant without penetration. Get a little of the sticky white stuff in the right place (say she blew you and some dripped down to her nether regions, you rub her the right way to reciprocate, it finds its way inside) Now I don't want to sound like the harbinger of doom for sex but without some sort of birth control, sex is going to do what it was designed to do. PROCREATE! Sperm have one purpose in their little life, get to the egg first.

I don't know the reasons why she isn't on the Pill, but depending on how long ago she made the decision not to be on it, you may want to bring it up again as an option. I know for me, it's worked well. If she does get on it, make sure she reads all the information that comes with it to know exactly how to take it, as some offer more flexablitily in the window of time between pills.

seriously, the pill isn't the only option for birth control and it's not *that* much more effective than some of the other options out there. Spermicide plus a condom is nearly as effective as the pill is (when used properly).

Dude, the point I was trying to make is this. If you put it in, and you are not using protection there is a good chance she CAN get pregnant. It does not just happen when you cum, any fluid that comes out sexually from the guy (who has not been snipped) contains MILLIONS of sperm cells, and it only takes 1.

don't get too worried about it... you should sit down with your girl and discuss the options aviable to you and her first before you do anything and besure your both happy with what you do

Precum contains a higher concentration of sperm than regular cum... so if she's not on birth control, definately use diaphrams, condoms, sponges, or anything you can get your hands on. The more barrier methods the better when she's not on the pill.

Abstinence is the only positive way to avoid pregnancy. You may also want to consider the risk of STD's. I heard that 50% of sexually active singles have HPV(genital warts)

Don't use the pull out method. It doesn't work. Just stick to condoms and spermicide, and for the love of god don't ever not wear a condom, unless you're married and want kids.
