Will Abstaining from masturbation help me?

Well, I have a hard time getting turned on most of the time, I have a semi low test but not low enough to blame on my lack of horniness.

Pretty much, when masturbating everything works fine but unfortunatley, I have a hard time getting turned on, everyone talks about getting erections watching just some girl on a TV commerical while I'm sitting here taking 3-5 minutes (without hands of course) to get an erection looking at porn. I realize everyone is different and most people complain about being super horny but unfortunatley I never am lol, I'm wondering if its because of porn and frequent masturbation, I go to a urologist for the symptoms because I have a hard time orgasming (I can climax but not much pleasure) but there isn't much he can do since I am still growing and test therapy and shit isn't stuff you want to mess with till past age 25 :)

So I'm curious before I go messing around with all this crap is it possible to just abstain from masturbation for a while and see if the horniness comes back, I can ejaculate fine I just find it hard to get turned on ;/

I've already gone 4 days and it hasn't been much a challenge, I've looked at a bit of porn but havn't masturbated at all, I only really get the urge to masturbate when I'm on the computer and I can avoid it most of the time if I'm doing this for a cause.

(I've posted quite a bit in the past about my sexual problems and some people said abstaining from masturbation increased horniness if those people could help me now it'd be much appreciated :)

Not masturbating will make you hornier, which will in turn make you more prone to erections. What makes you think it's a concern though? Since you obviously seem capable of orgasms, and you can get an erection, I'm having trouble seeing why you need to be concerned. It sounds like you have everything in the right place, the wiring is sound, and the plumbing works.

Everyone is wired differently.

Short answer: YES.

The main reason is because my orgasms are really lacking due to the lack of sexual ... interest?

Pretty much, I have a hard time getting turned on by almost anything anymore and want to know if abstaining from porn/masturbation for a little while will help things since I think 2 weeks without masturbation for a few months of horniness is a good thing :)

It is possible to become bored with sex because of too much porn. A lot of what people find sexy about sex is that it's something you don't have every day. You earn it, and it is a reward. A reward isn't as sweet if you get it all the time. That is why it can be bad to over-porn yourself. Who want's to be bored with sex? My advise: stop looking at porn when you masterbate. Start looking at pictures of fully clothed women. You also mgiht want to cut back little on masterbating, as the longer you go without, the more intense it is (at least for me). Go for a while, then let your next time be with a partner (if possible, that part's up to you).

Only 4 days? Commit yourself to a month of no masturbation, and stick to it no matter how horny you get.

I agree with most here. Abstaining will most definitely help you get hornier, but I have heard that masturbating helps give you harder erections. However, this may not be the case for someone that masturbates 40 times a day.

I do think though that the main thing is sexual interest. I find that no matter how long it's been since i've had some, either by myself or with someone else, how horny I am is determined by sexual interest.

I think it depends... maybe too much porn/masturbating is the problem... however, for some people, too little porn/masturbating is a problem. For myself, the more I masturbate or have sex, the more often I feel horny... but then I'm a girl... maybe that makes it different.

I think it's possible to become numb to the effects of porn etc. If you are looking at a lot of pornography, and masturbating all the time, it can make it harder to get turned on... it becomes a "ho hum seen that before" kind of thing. I know I have that problem with porn... most of it barely causes me to give it a second glance, let alone a stirring of passion.

Maybe you should explore things other than porn that turn you on. Spend time thinking about what you really like to see and do sexually?

If you're really concerned that there's a problem, see your doctor.

if you live at work with a dorm full of men its entirely possible without even trying.
Hell i went probably 3 weeks without even getting an erection, and ill tell you, to even try to get off i had to come and think about the female coworkers in the bathroom. and the first time i did it man it burned it was so intense, but the pain overpowered the orgasm :(
Now, im in the position of having to work to masterbate again due to my penis being spoiled with sex, although im horny all the time, the hand just isnt appealing when compared to a sweet little vagina and a nice pair of boobs next to you

Have you made any changes to your diet?

I'm a bodybuilder, and when I'm on a strict diet, when the calories are low, I lose all interest in sex. As soon as I eat more, all my systems come back on, so to speak.

Don't go overboard with the abstinence.
Whackin' off reduces your risk of prostate cancer.

Yep. Did it during two months of boot camp. Not much sexual attraction in a big room with 100 other guys (at least not for me). Also, most days I was too damn tired to think about it.

FallenAvatar 11-11-2004 09:53 PM

Just note that eventually your body will relieve that pressure for you. Wet dreams.. or excrete semen in your urine stream. Anyway you could try it... if it's that big of a deal for you, go see the doctor.
